cozy semi-dive bar with live music. Open only 4 nights a week and worth a stop when in town.
Front area is the main bar - decent basic cocktails, ok selection of beer, and good prices. Can get a little crowded before the music starts, but if you get there early you can grab a seat. They have a basic hanging rack in the back (by entrance to back area) for hanging coats, etc..
Back area is the music area. Fairly small with lots of music posters and the like on the walls. Small bar area when you walk in and small stage at the back. Limited seating along the wall, but plan to stand if you want to see the band - lots of tall Dutchmen will block your view if you stay seated.
You pay the cover to get to the back area. So feasibly you could stay up front and listen to the music first to see if you like it before paying the cover charge.
Note: while you are not allowed to smoke indoors in restaurant and bars in Amsterdam, the bartender in the back area smoked non-stop the entire time. read more
