My friend purchased a painting from there and she talked to one of the painters. This art gallery, studio and retail store was previously in Park Trades Center but has expanded to…read morea larger space on the Kalamazoo Mall/S. Burdick St., and is such an awesome addition to our community. MRC's mission is to encourage and support individuals living with a disability, and through their artWorks branch they do so by mentoring artistic abilities and providing the opportunity to participate in art hops, develop customer skills and earn commissions from artwork sales. We were fortunate that when we purchased a triptych of floral paintings at MRC, the artist who painted our pieces happened to be on hand that evening. She was over the moon delighted to have sold three of her pieces, and the beaming smile on her face is mirrored by my own each time I look at them on my wall. This is always a very busy stop on the Art Hop circuit and it's a joy to interact with the artists.

We just purchased our second outdoor dining set from Watson's. The first one was great but our…read moredaughter needed a set and we wanted her to have something that would last so she inherited our 5 year old set that was in nearly perfect condition. Our new set is slightly smaller and fits our space better. After searching all the big box stores (WM, L, HD) and club stores we could not find anything as nice or at a reasonable price. So we purchased another solid decorative metal table and chairs from Hanamint. The sales person (Melinda T) was outstanding at helping us. She asked all the right questions and was never pushy. While expensive, we bought on sale so the price beat anything comparable in the market. I highly recommend Watson's (and Melinda). If you're looking for outdoor furniture in Kalamazoo be sure to check them out.

Floor to ceiling windows offer a great view of the artwork whether the gallery is open or closed. The current exhibition by Lissa Hahn is phenomenal -- work that explores movement in photography that creates a textured, 3-D effect without any photoshopping. Her use of super-vivid colors, vibrant photography treatments (such as archival dye sublimation transferred onto aluminum) and the incredible lighting ensured I spotted her exhibition yesterday from a half-block away (and indeed, spotted the artist herself from across the intersection and had to pop in to compliment this peacock of a person on her beautiful outfit and she turned out to be the exhibitor herself.) This is my favorite exhibition I've seen in downtown Kalamazoo in quite some time. 3-D glasses are available for viewing but I have depth perception issues and didn't find they made the pictures pop more for me than they already did. This exhibition is a must-see if you're in downtown Kalamazoo!

I'm in love with pottery. We had to register for this event, and you get a slab of clay ( Shea was kind enough to give as many slabs as we needed!) The event lasted for 1.5 hours and it was so much fun. I ended up making 3 pieces that I can't wait to see. Overall it was a very unique experience and I loved every bit of it.
