Luckily, it only took about 10 minutes, and they offered us seats at the bar, which we gladly took. Our waitress, Sandra, was quick, sharp, and so friendly. We ordered the Aztec soup (so good), the poblano soup, and the mole enchiladas (spicy-smoky),and absolutely delicious. For dessert, we had the hot chocolate (just like the one my mom used to make!), and Sandra brought out some sweet bread to go with it (fantastic). We also tried the guava gelatin, which was superb. The ambiance was lively, full of all kinds of people, and had a really cheerful vibe. If you're in the area, this place is a must!

It was happy hour and they have 2 for 1. I ordered a mojito. The mojito came out with no mint. It tasted like lime juice with ice. It was green but I think they put food coloring or maybe some sort of green mixer. I drank about 1/4 of it and stopped. Worst mojito I've ever had. My brother in law had a vodka Collins. He didn't really like his either. We figured since both our drinks are 2 for 1 we wouldn't get our second drink and it would count as two. Nope they wouldn't allow. We didnt finish our first drinks and there was no way we were ordering another. My wife and sister enjoyed their wine. We shared a pizza and it was decent. We asked for water and the waiter brought out 4 bottles of water we had to buy. Every other restaurant or bar here has always brought out water without us asking. 3 wines and 2 horrible "liquor" drinks plus a small pizza was $90 US. Not worth it. Service overall was bad. When we were paying i left a small tip on purpose because the service was bad. It was around 8-9% The waiter comes over and says it's mandatory to tip 10%. Who does this? He is lucky he even got that. So I hand him a handful of coin pesos I had in my pocket and I leave. DO NOT GO HERE! There are so many better places in the area.

I've previously visited another location of Café Toscano in Roma Norte for breakfast on a previous trip to Mexico City, and I enjoyed their breakfast menu more than their lunch menu. The Caesar salad was nothing special, but the atmosphere is great, and their outside seating is beautiful. The service was also great - friendly, helpful, very fast. It's not a bad place for a meal, but I definitely prefer Café Toscano for breakfast over lunch.

Mexico City! Roma Norte…read more We didn't see too many tamales being sold on the street so we decided to try Cafe de Raiz. The Yelp reviews in Mexico City wasn't too helpful because everyone seemed to go to Google for the reviews. I'm trying to help by posting reviews and pictures for the yelpers out there. First off, the tamales are pretty big so a few shared is plenty for breakfast or early lunch. It was different then the ones I usually had. The most intriguing dish by far was their bowl. It's a tamales style called zacahuil which is made in a banana leaf and though it's a version of tamales, it's uniquely delicious in the best way possible. I loved it!!!! You get both a hot sauce (spicy!) and a cream sauce to put on the tamales which defiantly levels up the dishes. Another thing to mention, their coffee game is legit. One of the best coffees I've had during my visit to This beautiful city. Service was amazing. There are a few tables inside and out and the ambiance and neighborhood is so cute.
