Kory is the best!!! I've only had balayage twice in my life (including last Saturday) and he works his magic into my hair! First time at Oz a Salon and grateful there's a large parking lot behind the salon as it was pouring Saturday when I came and left. The salon is way huge, bright, and very clean. Came here on a Thursday afternoon after calling and asking about walk-in availability. Kathy answered and found a stylist available at 1. They were very friendly at the door and offered me water. Arrived around 12:50 and got called up for my cut maybe 10 min after 1 but it's alright. They allow an hour for haircuts so when making a booking or walking in without an appointment, that's something to keep in mind. I had Elaina and asked her to take off 3 inches of length and for long layers. Happy with the results. No idea what the pricing for the different services are but I asked after starting the payment process and not seeing a total. It was $85 before tip. Would recommend this salon. Super impressed with this salon and especially the hair stylist, Brandon! I've always walked past this salon and thought one day I'm actually going to get my hair cut there. (Disaster cut from a stylist in Fremont made me go on a 5 year hair cut hiatus) SALON REVIEW- I called at about Noon on a Thursday and asked if they had any availability for that day and they said they did. I was shocked! The salon was definitely following all distancing requirements which really put me at ease. The waiting area is closed but you can call and check in and they will call you and let you know when the stylist is ready for you. Hand sanitizer is available as soon as you walk in and they do a temperature check as well. The stations are spread out and they're limiting capacity and the number of stylists working at a specific time/day. Specific stylist review - BRANDON he was seriously AMAZING!! I walked in with absolutely no idea what I wanted and told him I was open to anything besides a pixie cut lol my hair was to the top of my butt so there was a lot to work with. He took a few minutes to study my hair and checking the texture when damp. He made a commitment cut which was epic!!! The shampoo/condition was amazing. Very detailed thorough scalp massage. As for the cut he got right in and worked his magic. It's hard to describe but it's similar to a shaggy lob. Lots of texture and movement. Which is so hard to attain for my super fine hair but the cut was exactly what my hair needed. He styled it and it looked fantastic. It truly gave me the confidence boost I needed. I decided to go lighter and Wendy Salgado did an Amazing job with the balayage teqnique she did on me. It is a bit more time consuming because in this hair color technique, highlights are hand-painted/wept on the surface of random sections of hair starting midshaft and becoming denser as it moves down the section of hair to the ends. Balayage highlights are a few shades lighter than my base color, thereby giving my locks a more natural depth and dimention. Wendy blended my color so seamlessly into my natural color and explained that its easy to maintain with the right quality products. Oz a Salon carries a great selection of top quality hair products. I've been coming to this salon for almost 2 years. But with Korey, almost 5 years I think. Korey is an amazing stylist and will always be honest with you. Which is what I love about him. The only maintenance I do on my hair is a quarterly trim and he always manages to bring my dead hair back to life. What has kept me coming back to him is his understanding of the desire to have long black hair. It may sound funny, but if your asian, you know. I grew up with my mom always attempting to cut my hair at home, or getting my hair butchered at the asian salon. I so long desired to have long healthy voluminous hair-and Korey is able to give me that, and help me maintain my hair these past few years. Every time I come to him, he makes my hair looks so good, that I don't even want to wash my hair! Gross as it may, but I dry shampoo as long as I can just so I can keep my style through the week. I scheduled an appointment at Oz a Salon by calling their reception about three weeks ago. Since it was my first visit there I didn't know any of the stylists and asked for an appointment on a Thursday morning. They gave me an appointment for 10am on Thursday 11/17/22 and on my request they gave me the following estimate for a haircut and highlights: "With this stylist, it's $325. It will take between 3 and 4 hours." (these are the exact words the lady used on the phone when I scheduled). I did not know who the stylist would be but the salon had good reviews and I didn't need any special hair treatment so I wanted to try it out. I went there last Thursday at 10am and met my stylist Jeannie (jeannielong hair on Instagram). She asked me what color I wanted and I pointed to one spot of my hair and said we can do this for the highlights. This was the only consultation I got from Jeannie. Fast forward 4 hours later, my head was still in the sink and I told Jeannie that I had to leave in 30 minutes to pick up my children from school because I had expected to be done after about 4 hours. She was surprised that I also wanted a haircut and said this wasn't in the books. I was surprised, too because I had scheduled the appointment for a cut & highlights. She said instead of a full hair cut she would do a "quick clean up cut" of the ends of my hair because by that time I only had 20 minutes left for cut and blow dry. She did a quick cut and I did like the result of the color and cut. Only I did not like what the receptionist charged me when I checked out: instead of the $325 (and I thought it wouldn't be much more because of the "quick clean up cut" instead of a full cut), they billed me $545!!! I was dumbstruck and totally caught off guard. I asked for a breakdown of the prices because I couldn't believe my ears! They said Jeannie charged me $400 for the color, $45 for a "tip-out" (what is that??!!) and $80 for a full cut. Even these three amounts don't add up to the total of $545! By that time I was very late to pick up my children and my brain probably in shock so that I just went ahead and paid what they asked. I admit I should have disputed the charges right there and then, but I was caught off guard and in a rush so I feel that Jeannie took advantage of this because she knew I wouldn't let my kids wait outside their school to argue about the cost of my haircut. As soon as I was at home and came back to my senses I called the salon to question the sudden price increase of 68%! I paid $220 more than I was quoted on the phone. They said they couldn't do anything about it and I should get in touch with Jeannie. I texted Jeannie and suggested a compromise in which she would refund me 50% of the $220 because she had neither done a consultation nor asked my consent for the "tip-out" nor informed me of any increase of the cost. She only replied that the $545 I paid was the amount she needed to cover her costs. She never replied to my following message that was respectful and reasonable. Now I'm left with a horrendously expensive hair cut & color and nobody takes responsibility for it- the salon says it's Jeannie's problem and Jeannie says that's her rate. So if you're loaded and don't mind a sudden price increase of almost 70%, go for it. As I said above my hair looks nice but the money for my kids' Christmas gifts now went into my hair colors thanks to Jeannie. read more

Fast forward a few years and my hair is long and GORGEOUS. I now get compliments all the time on my hair. I have been to SO many different stylists and he is the first one to actually get my color right and keep my hair healthy and growing. I also really like that his technique allows for extra time in between sessions so if I don't come back when I'm supposed to my hair doesn't look grown out. Deborah is such an amazing hair stylist!! She is very professional have great customer service, very detailed orientated, and also very fun to talk to. I was recommended to her by one of my friend who got her hair done smoky blue, and faded out very nicely to a gray color, its been a few months since she had her smoky blue and I still don't see any yellow or orange at all. She started out with a detailed consultation asked about my hair history, hair goals, and budget. She listed out all the options and prices for me to decide what I am most comfortable with. I came in with some previously lightened and compromised hair on the ends and I wanted to do a metallic gray sliver violet color. I was very concerned about gettin more breakage, and told her to do whatever she needs to do to keep my hair healthy. She was very patient, detailed and very careful with the lightening process. Used a lot of good products and treatment to keep the integrity of my hair. She also informed me what she was doing through out the whole process, so I'm not confused and worried. After the color , she did a cut and styled my hair for photos! She also has professional camera with lighting and backdrop. She will pose you and help you take a very IG worthy finish photos and as well as Snapchat/ IG story. In the end , she informed me all the take home products and options I could get to maintain my hair color, and what I love was that she wasn't pushing me to buy it.
