Anyone who knows me well will have noticed my recent obsession with collecting obscure vinyl. This had resulted in me making friends with most music market stalls as well as trekking across London to charity shops and second hand record stores when I've heard they've had a decent delivery.
When looking for a place to buy vinyl you have to consider the area in which you are purchasing it in. Most people don't travel to drop something off at these shops, they live around the corner. As a result there are a few cute little shelves under the books with almost a complete discography from Shirley Bassey. Someone really must have been a fan. Now I was a little bit sad to break this collection up, but I don't want greatest hits, it's all about albums and LPs. They tell a story and I can understand why artists get upset when only one song from their album gets bought on iTunes. It's taking it out of context.
So anyway, along with Shirley, I got an old Topol record from his days on stage, Lionel Richie, Billy Joel and some Nat King Cole. All in fantastic nick at around £3 each. I left a very, very happy lady. read more
