This shop holds some stock which I haven't seen in other discount stores, namely some brightly coloured containers which have a 60s looking hippy pattern on and some moving noisy pictures (such as pictures of the ocean with ocean sounds which are quite soothing) which are ideal ornaments for living rooms. A small selection of tools and DIY materials can also be found on the shelves. I liked the smell of this shop, obviously the owners have burnt some incense to give the shop a nice, calming aroma and make it welcoming and comfortable. Despite the appearance of the shop, it is not a pound shop but it is still significantly cheaper than supermarkets and other household stores. It is small and not good if you have the kids with you as there is plenty which they can knock off the shelves and break. Parking is nearby at the bowling alley or pay and display around the corner should you wish to load your goods into the car as near to the shop as possible. Wardens patrol the area regularly so resist giving into that "I'll only be a minute" mentality which catches so many people out.

The prices they set are unbelievably low compared to some other well known charities. You can pick up designer jeans for £3 and designer tops for as little as £2 each. There's a huge stock of books, dvds, videos etc a large mens clothing and shoes area and lots of toys, gifts and bedding etc. The baby clothes are from as little as 20p per item, I've kitted out my wardrobe from this shop. It is so busy and a real community area where people meet and chat and everyone is friendly. All the staff except the manageress are volunteers and it's for a very worthwhile cause. (the cottage hospice has about 14 shops in total)

I've found more than a few bargains in this shop, and they stock a wide range of goods including bric-a-brac, toys, shoes, books, clothes, household wares, and more recently they have started to sell small PAT tested electrical items. One of the great things about this shop is that they don't overprice items, recently I have noticed charity shops have been becoming very expensive and sometimes it ends up that you're better off buying something new in a cheap shop such as Primark than a second hand item. This is not the case in here, items are always very fairly priced. Look out for the bargain rail which is usually outside the shop when the weather is good enough - it is filled with items of clothing for 75p which have been in the shop for a set period of time - a sort of a clearance rail!

Ellenor Hospice Care Shop is a very large charity shop on the High Street which sells almost…read moreeverything you might need for a home such as 3 piece suites, tables, shelving units and ornaments and vases along with books, toys and games. All goods are second hand and vary in quality (stock also varies depending on what people donate) but there are some real bargains to be had in here with the added bonus that the money goes to charity. There is plenty of room to roam and space isn't an issue. In fact it can be quite fun having a look and seeing what stock is available, a little like being at a boot sale without the dodgy donut stalls or mud. There is not parking available next to the shop but it is possible to either park in the retail park opposite or in the large Sainsbury's car park around the corner.

I love to come and pick up some books or a puzzle, and they do have quite a good selection of books if you take the time to look. Although I haven't purchased any clothes from here, they do look like good quality. I might have to have a proper look next time! They also take donations and I usually like to drop a few books off before I buy a few more. There is also parking outside, which makes it really easy to quickly run in and drop stuff off.

PDSA Orpington however made me SO cross, I hadto write. This was the last of the 8 million charity shops that adorn the High Street in this South East London Satelite, not because there is a super duper new out of town shopping experience but because people like it that way.apparently. After a few minutes of innocent browsing, I became aware of a woman glaring at me over folded, permatanned, leathery arms. Her bright pink mouth pursed like a dogs bottom. I glanced at her and considered what she was doing. If I were a shoplifter, I wouldn't get far as I have a bad leg, but what would I be doing nicking a £4.99 dress anyway? I thought I must be mistaken. I went to the til, then spotted some cameras so left the queue to take a better look. As I peered at them over the fan, leatherface asked in a loud voice from right next to me Have you served this lady? obviously meant to let me know she had me in her sights. Dumbfounded, I left the cameras, made my purchase and went on my way. I have never been made to feel so awkward in a shop before! Did she really have nothing better to do? Perhaps she should leave the shop keeping to the other, much nicer ladies that looked embarresses at her behavior. Maybe she was a retired headmistress that missed her job! Either way, the PDSA are going to get a letter. I have a direct debit giving them a little every month because as an impoverished student, they glued my dog back together on numerous occasions and I believe I owe them. Grrrr to leathery bored housewives with dogs bottoms for mouths and pink lipstick. Now I have vented, I should stop going over it.

I could not open the door, but there was a blonde man inside reading a paperback book. He signalled over to me, so i thought he was going to open the door, but when he came to the door he turned the sign around from open to closed.

don't rely on the map for directions- look them up on the farms website…read more I have to state now, that i am a volunteer for the woodlands farm trust and have been for the last 5 years, so my apologies if this contravenes qypes t's and c's! the woodlands farm trust is a charity run by volunteers, and open to the public. they have quite a lot of animals, mainly sheep and cows. i find this farm extremely well run, and there is always something to do. if you fancy volunteering and getting a little dirty, then go down and give it a try. it's an ideal place for the family, as well as school visits. the woodlands farm trust also has open days, but check the website for further info. its free to get in, but the farm actually relies on donations, so please give genorously!
