This further made me question the cleanliness of this place, though I didn't ask if any of that has been done prior to daily opening or periodic sanitizing at different times of the day, so I don't know. I arrived shortly after they opened on a Saturday and it began to fill up pretty soon. I recommend not going on a Saturday and perhaps select a weekday to reduce the amount of stank you may experience after a busy week of boredom for your kids. Add to my experience, a family of obvious locals who blocked the areas where most patrons would walk, and I get the feeling they did it on purpose as a show of force from the 'hood. While there, the lights went out for a section of the building. That is a scheduled and planned light-out due to an hourly attempt to allow the kids to 'party out'.

It's big enough that if you or your family want some private, family time, there is a great spot. Multiple areas: to picnic/grill, room for big playing: room to train big dogs, hiking/walking/running/cycling paths, playing frisbee, football, basketball, frisbee/disc golf, playground. There is a lake (I'm not sure if you can fish or not. I would think so. But, double check to be sure.) Area for water play. (A bit of a warning) It has moving water, down the rocks.... The rocks are super slick. Mama tip: Needless to say, adults and kids can fall and get hurt. It's rocks/ big, slick, rocks! But, FUN! Lol I love taking my dogs to walk and play outdoors. On leash, of course. Restrooms throughout the park, and covered pavilions for big groups/family reunions/get togethers/church functions (egg hunts)... great park to enjoy being outside! Fun for everyone:)

A lot about livin' and a little 'bout love." Alan Jackson I remember when Alan released this song in '93 and (having never visited the South to that point) I wondered if he invented some magical river called the "Chattahoochee" because it made for such a catchy guide vocal. Now that we've seen some of what Alan was singing about while on the "Chattahoochee River Walk" in Columbus, Georgia, it makes me wonder if the lyrics to his song could actually be semi-autobiographical. ‍ This trail runs parallel to the river and offers a consistent connection to it during your adventure. Walkers, runners, cyclists, and leashed dogs are all welcome here and from a safety standpoint I'd assign it a perfect score during daylight hours. Those with mobility challenges should not be dissuaded from enjoying it because it is well maintained, mostly flat, and easily accommodates wheelchairs, baby strollers, etc. While I typically elect to run most of the trails that we review, I quite enjoyed causally meandering along this one. And that's...Henry's Take. #chattahoochee #alanjackson #columbustrails

We've been getting out on it for our double digit runs. It's exudes peace, calm, tranquil, and serene vibes. It's paved, clean, safe, well lit and although not crowded you aren't often far from your next walker, runner, cyclist, four legged friend or stroller. It's the perfect place to get in uninterrupted mileage with stunning views of the river as it flows from rapids to a glistening still. There's plenty of shaded areas as well as exposed. It feels like a very gradual train to the terrain as its essentially flat but has a few bumps here and there to keep the legs feeling their best. If an active lifestyle isn't your thing, it's the perfect place to take in a picnic, enjoy stillness, meditate or read your fav book from start to finish. There are miles and miles of the perfect mixture of fresh air, sunshine, shade and quietness. We run it from the Lake Oliver trail head start (out 5-6miles then turn back for an easy 10-12) but I can easily see doubling down on it if you are looking to get in 20+ miles while still being right beside the city. On and over the water you can go white water rafting, zip line from GA to AL, fly fish, take in a INF World Canoe Championships and more! The Dragonfly has been a symbol of happiness, new beginnings and change for many centuries. The Dragonfly means hope, change, and love. I'd say this trail is perfectly named. Enjoy!
