This place is beautiful!!! My three girls (11,5,2) ALL had an amazing time in the water and at the playground area. The playground is really outdated but none of the children who were there cared. They were living their best life!

Beautiful park with 2 jungle gyms for the kids. Lots of great scenery and the waterfalls are really cool. There was a lot of trash around the park though and beer cans, but besides that recommended park in GA.

    Great trails!!!

Great trails! Kid friendly! The best Saturday afternoon spent with the hubby & chiclets!

Scenic lake in the very back of park

What a shame that the residents and others using this park have trashed it. And shame on the city for not maintaining this little gem! We traveled here while visiting relatives are were sad to see trash EVERYWHERE. Not just a few wrappers here and there but big chunks of broken glass, bottles, Styrofoam, cigarette butts, food wrappers and entire bags of garbage just tossed throughout. There was trash in the water, on the stairs, on the walkways, under the bridge and even INSIDE the slide of the playground. GROSS! The playground equipment was broken too, luckily my son wasn't injured when using it. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. (see photos) Aside from humans littering the place I can see this would be a gorgeous park. Although the water was just a trickle it was so scenic with rolling hills, open space, cute bridges, swings and playgrounds. There were historic looking brick fixtures too but hard to tell what exactly they used to be since there were no signs. We collected as much trash as we could carry with just our hands and threw it away, our small part in helping restore the park. Truly either the city needs to clean this place up or surely a community group could organize a trash pick up day. Seems like the perfect service project for Boy/Girl Scouts, or local school or civic organization. We hoped back in the car and drove around the back and saw less trash and MTB trails, folks running RC cars over the rocks and a pristine looking lake. So much potential, I hope the city or its residents puts some work back into this park and cleans it up.

Columbus is ridiculously boring in itself, but I would go back time and again if only to hike through Flat Rock Park. The place is a naturally beautiful eden, especially for a New Yorker like me whose exposure to nature is limited to the glories of man-made Central Park. I highly recommend stopping here for an hour or two, whether it's for a picnic/BBQ, a quick swim, or just to enjoy the sights. Perfect spot for photographers, especially if you like catching neat wildlife. Just keep an eye out for brown recluses. :p

We have only been in Columbus for about a month and I've been searching & searching for a place to take my dog to go swimming where there aren't any alligators & this place is PERFECT! It was only about a 25 min drive from Ft Benning & It's good ol southern muddy water but it's shallow enough around the lake that we can let our dog into play & cool off. It's not a dog park or a off leash area but we found a little spot along the lake with no one around where we could let our dog off to play fetch in the water. The leaves were changing on the trees & the scenery was beautiful and peaceful! There seemed to be a lot of people out enjoying a picnic and bike riding. Will be going back for frequent visits!

This park is gorgeous! We took or dog for a walk and she loved it! We let her off the leash for a while because there were no people around and she ran around, jumped into the water and was the happiest dog ever! It's very clean, no trash around the picnic areas and the trails are great. We even saw people with strollers and there's a playground as well as a large frisbee golf area. It's just so nice and calm there, however I can imagine that it gets crowded on the weekends. We came on a weekday in the morning and only met like 2 groups of people walking around. There were a couple of cars parked in various parking areas but we didn't see a lot of people. We will definitely come back with or dog, or to have a picnic.

Flat Rock Park at high water. The trails drain well and are in great shape for running even after heavy rains in the last day!

Flat Rock Park is great for trail-running! There are miles of secluded trails where you can run for hours without encountering anyone else. Perfect if you want to enjoy nature or spend time alone with your thoughts. On my 1-hour run today, I saw several white-tailed deer and lots of squirrels. Even with the heavy rainstorm during the last day, the trails drained well and were in great condition (too wet for mountain biking though). There is also an 18-hole disc golf course and plenty of picnic tables. With all the fall foliage, Flat Rock is a beautiful park for enjoying a relaxing afternoon!

A example of how people take care of flat rock park. This is the norm for the whole park.

The whole park is completely trashed. There are trash cans everywhere but people can't seem to find them for some reason. The picture I attached is the norm for the whole park. Trash everywhere makes it so you can't enjoy the scenery which would be beautiful otherwise. It's a shame.

Beautiful park. We loved the area along the river with enormous rocks to climb around on.

Compared to I've 5 years ago, this park has truly gone horribly downhill. The city does absolutely nothing for it.

Although very pretty the place is not clean. I used to bring my kids here but in one day we found two dirty diapers and a used condom.

This place is great and would get 5 stars if it weren't for the guy always trying to give other guys blow jobs in the men's bathroom.

This is probably my favorite place in Columbus. If you love being outdoors, like I do - this has…read moregot to be the most beautiful out and back in the area. We've been getting out on it for our double digit runs. It's exudes peace, calm, tranquil, and serene vibes. It's paved, clean, safe, well lit and although not crowded you aren't often far from your next walker, runner, cyclist, four legged friend or stroller. It's the perfect place to get in uninterrupted mileage with stunning views of the river as it flows from rapids to a glistening still. There's plenty of shaded areas as well as exposed. It feels like a very gradual train to the terrain as its essentially flat but has a few bumps here and there to keep the legs feeling their best. If an active lifestyle isn't your thing, it's the perfect place to take in a picnic, enjoy stillness, meditate or read your fav book from start to finish. There are miles and miles of the perfect mixture of fresh air, sunshine, shade and quietness. We run it from the Lake Oliver trail head start (out 5-6miles then turn back for an easy 10-12) but I can easily see doubling down on it if you are looking to get in 20+ miles while still being right beside the city. On and over the water you can go white water rafting, zip line from GA to AL, fly fish, take in a INF World Canoe Championships and more! The Dragonfly has been a symbol of happiness, new beginnings and change for many centuries. The Dragonfly means hope, change, and love. I'd say this trail is perfectly named. Enjoy!
