Wow.... Sand Hollow Doodles outdid it! We were in line for a puppy and the mama had a false…read morepregnancy, our timeline was short due to other family activities otherwise, we were going to wait an entire year. Sand Hollow DELIVERED our little Athena in Reno, and we all happily drove up and had our gotcha day! It's been 16 years since we have had a puppy in the house! She is training us to be better HOOMANs and is such a doll. We keep in touch with Sand Hollow on growth spurts and they have been completely helpful when I need a little extra guidance and don't really trust the internet advice. Thanks for being you guys! Keep up the great work! Tri Springerdoodle DOB: 4/20/23

We purchased two 8-week old moyen poodle puppies here at the end of December. This breeder is not a…read moreback-yard breeder and has been breeding doodles for at least 5 years. Our owner was friendly, and worked with us financially on the pricing. However I had to ask for a receipt and what I received was a small generic slip that can be purchased at an office supply store with no contact information and no itemization. The breeder delayed our original pickup date by about half a week because she said they picked up a "parasite" and had to finish their 5-day treatment. I immediately had a stool sample checked by slide smear at our veterinarian and it came back clear, which I reported to the breeder. One pup was noticeably smaller than the other (2.3 vs. 4.3 lbs at six weeks). Then after three months they started to have trouble with loose mucousy stools, lack of appetite and light vomiting. At first we tried changing food and feeding a bland diet but no improvement. Our vet suggested that we test for giardia, an intestinal parasite and sure enough the test came back positive. I discovered that giardia requires a special (antigen) test that most veterinarians can't run in their labs; it has to be sent out. When I asked the breeder what the parasite they originally contracted was she confirmed that it was giardia. What disturbed me is that she did not document what the specific parasite was, what treatment was administered, nor did she disclose to me that a special test was required to detect it. I am suspicious that these puppies were not fully cured when we picked them up, since a proper test was not performed after treatment. We have learned that giardia cysts can hide out in the intestinal tract and reinfect later. The infection we dealt with was difficult to cure as the vet had to use two different medicines over 7 days each to clear up their condition and obtain a negative test. The breeder chose to keep silent when I told her about my initial fecal slide results, which is crazy since her warranty explicitly disclaims giardia and coccidia. If you use this breeder I recommend that you specifically ask about these two parasites and if diagnosed, have her provide a follow-up test proving that the parasites were not detected. The good news is that the size and weight difference between our pups eventually narrowed to only 5% and no ill effects from their infection have displayed. Their skin, teeth, and muscles all appear to be healthy and we are very happy with them.
