Erich's the kinda guy who can talk the talk (and talk he does, for hours on end), but not walk the…read morewalk. Supposedly he says he has "20 years of sheetrocking experience," but what he really means is he has 20 years of subcontracting experience to others. Most of the work that Erich did, he did in a shoddy way. The only saving grace, and the reason for a 1 star rating, is his workers were decent at their jobs at least. Took roughly a week of work to get my bathroom reno done. The project was simple: get my small, old barnboard and plaster and lathe bathroom up to date with drywall, 2x4 framing, fresh coat of paint, plumbing, tub/shower, and adding new vanities. The project was done in FEBRUARY OF 2025. First, the good parts: Bathroom looks much much better compared to what it started off as: a puke inducingly ugly thing, initially carpeted (which I took out immediately after purchasing the house), followed by scraping layers of rubber rotted carpet underlayment until the ugly plywood remained. The bathroom, after the renovation, now looks modern, clean, and the ceiling is much higher not having to have layer after layer of hackjob framing the previous owner of the house did. Erich's subs did...decent... work, although left much to be desired when it comes to proper finishing. Some drywall joints have visibly large amounts of mud, tape, and paint noticeable. Poor craftsmanship drywalling. The framing was done well at least, so I can do future bathroom renos myself. Last, but not least, a list of screwups off the top of my head that I can pin entirely on the business owner, Erich: The scope of work included adding fiberglass insulation within the walls of the newly framed bathroom--this was never done. Athough not required for inside walls, the scope and invoice pricing included this service. Of course, Erich pocketed the cost of insulation for himself after returning it to the store, rather than refund me for services not carried out, or even leaving the insulation so I could have used it later personally. Then, and this is quite embarassing, he struggled for a solid 45 minutes trying to install a toilet flange. I stand by what I stated: I would never hire you to replace a faucet in the future, let alone any sort of serious construction. Oh yes, he also failed to patch up a huge hole in the wall, which the scope of work included. I've attached a picture showing that, as well as I've labeled who worked on this project on the studs and the tub wall. (In the off chance I get dementia way down the line 40 years in the future, I'll know who did this sort of shoddy work, and not hire that company or their descendants). Finally, it is expected that you maintain a clean working environment. NO protection was used on my hardwood floors, including NO plastic sheets or cardboard sheets to prevent construction debris and dust from getting rubbed in. I had my roomba mop the room at least 3 dozen times before the hardwood got back to its starting shape. Plaster and lath dust gets EVERYWHERE. Oh, and the icing on the cake: Erich was supposed to have hauled away the construction waste after job completion. This was NEVER DONE. In fact, the contractor I hired for my roofing project did that. You should be ashamed of yourself, that ANOTHER contractor had to fix your screwups. My entire garage was FILLED with at least 40 construction bags of debris. All I got were excuses after excuses: oh my guy's wife is sick, oh my truck broke down, etc etc. Keep in mind, this is now AUGUST of 2025 and he still has yet to pick up his junky old vacuum cleaner which he left behind here ON TOP OF THE OTHER JUNK... BACK IN FEBRUARY! (And I just got to this review after so long because I had a whole slew of other projects going on this year--new metal roof, removing a chimney and fireplace, framing and drywalling my living room, etc, all done by another contractor who actually gives cares about proper worksmanship). TLDR: Stay clear of this guy. TERRIBLE business. By FAR the worst contractor I have ever used. See screenshots for more details.

He also installed new steps & deck into the unit. His work was as excellent, and he communicated everything he was doing thoroughly. He's a nice guy, too. He worked around, over, under, and next to 33 years of accumulated crap, family kibitzers, a lazy, fat-bottomed, plastic eating cat (the size of a small dog!), dust, and a myriad of other surprises, inside and out. He and his crew were professional at all times and really good sports. A good sense of humor is a real blessing, guys! Thank you! This was an emotional struggle for me but Josh and his crew made it so much easier to endure! Many thanks to Josh and his crew. NY Sash, you have a real gem with them! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND NY SASH & this crew! Well worth the money! Anna McMullen

Stove dent wouldn't show, so I took it and the company offered $100 off on that. They said they'd replace the dishwasher. A second weeks goes by - we waited around during that four hour window they can't do better than, and they brought a STOVE. So truck left with the stove. We still had the dented dishwasher. Another week, I hear nothing. Then I call. "Oh, it's coming in three days," I am told. No one told me. "And it's between 3 and 7 PM." In the dark. In a house I don't live in yet. I said no, and they said call us again in two days and we'll have a new day and time for you. "Daylight hours," I said. "No problem," I was told. Two days later I call and delivery is between 7 AM and 11 AM. I call delivery - 7 AM is insane - I live half an hour away from this house. The Home Depot person I call is sympathetic, but there's no other option. She tells me to call after delivery and maybe there can be some sort of refund for the trouble this has been. So I get up before the sun, drive to an empty house, and wait. I finally get it, and they take the old one away. I email the company to tell them I want some sort of satisfaction for this mess, and they offer me a GIFT card. Like I'm going to buy more stuff there. I am still waiting to see how this works out, but this has more than confirmed my low opinion of Home Depot, or Home Disappointment, as a contractor I know has dubbed it. True indeed.

Since the problem was the loss of refrigerant by a leak somewhere, and the internal icemaker not working, the anticipated cost made me consider getting a new refrigerator. It would be nice to say that I went to the CBD of my community to find an appliance dealer. But that doesn't exist, so the choices are limited to a big box store or an hour travel. I suggest reviewing Consumer Reports for guidance. I did my Net research first. I opted for Home Depot. I looked at many models and decided upon one that was highly rated, energy efficient qualifying for a NYS rebate. I paid for it on a Weds and the cost of delivery and removing the old one very reasonable. Oneonta Home Depot said it could be delivered on Sat. between 10 AM and 2PM. Well to my happy surprise, I got a call at 945 AM that the delivery team would be at my home at 10 AM. They did a great job of removing my old, wounded refrigerator and put the new one in its place. It's nice to have a store that sells appliances, with a year warranty on parts and labor and actually does what it says. I like that Home Depot also sent me an email of my invoice and how to prepare for the delivery.
