My tutor was John Easter. Thanks to him, I had a major improvement in my GRE Quantitative Reasoning score and got into an amazing graduate program. I HIGHLY recommend John as a tutor. He tutored me for the GRE Quantitative Reasoning section in Summer, 2015 over the course of a month and a half. I am an English major who applied to graduate school for Speech Language Pathology. Math has never been my strong area. Before working with John, I started studying on my own for GRE Math; I hadn't done math since high school. I took an initial practice test online and my score was in the BOTTOM 3rd percentile. I spent a lot of time despairing and having panic attacks that I would not be able to take the GRE and get into graduate school. After that, I decided to get a private tutor. During my first session with John, he conducted an assessment of which areas I need to target and was very encouraging. He was very organized, diligent, always on time and created an excellent study plan for which areas to focus on for improvement. He recommended great study materials that were extremely helpful for me to understand the concepts. John taught me valuable strategies on how to solve problems efficiently and how to understand the process of the GRE better. I had a lot of anxiety with the GRE Math portion. John was consistently encouraging and supportive in helping me persevere in studying and doing practice tests. I will admit: I absolutely dread math. However, John actually made it approachable, interesting and I was able to get through my days feeling more confident in my ability to do better on the GRE. I got 153 on my GRE Quantitative section. I went from 3rd percentile to 52nd percentile. I just got an acceptance letter from a graduate school that was in my top 3. 9 months ago, I decided that I wanted to go back to school to get my MBA. Having been out of school for 9 years, I knew I needed to freshen up on my standardized testing taking skills prior to sitting for the GMAT. After some research, I can across a Groupon deal for a company called MyGuru that, based off of reviews, sounded good. I purchased a reasonably affordable package for GMAT group prep classes and readied for getting to it. Days before classes were scheduled to begin, I got an email from the company owner telling me that unfortunately the classes had to be cancelled, but, considering the circumstances, he would pair me up with a private tutor from his staff and afford me a comparable number of hours in one-on-one sessions. While I was looking forward to working with peers in a classroom setting, the tutoring option was a great substitute. The tutor with whom I was paired was John Easter. John and I worked together, on and off, for approximately four or five months, granted I had to purchase some additional session hours during this duration. Although it wasn't cheap, it was a wise investment. Working with John, my practice exams increased continually. Between my first practice exam and the one and only time I sat for the actual GMAT, my score had increased by 65%. The GMAT score that I was able to attain, coupled with strong applications and interviews, helped me to get accepted into the Kellogg part-time program last week, and the Booth part-time program yesterday. John's assistance with and motivation in preparing for the GMAT was integral to my success. We first met John (Owl Test Prep) 6 years ago when we needed someone to "spark" the love of math our daughter had lost somewhere between 4th and 6th grade. I highly recommend John to anyone who wants to take the GMAT and get a high score. He is a great teacher and will teach you "the game" of GMAT. He is very knowledgable and will show you all the tricks you need to know. There were several occasions during the course that our minds were blown by the tricks he taught us, so be prepared! I appreciated that he was always in class before the start time and would spend that time to answer our questions. You will not feel stupid asking simple questions or asking for a concept to be explained again. He would explain the topic to you until you get it. He also likes to tell funny stories every once a while which makes the class more fun. I have not taken my actual GMAT yet, but I see good improvement in my practice exam scores and feel much more confident. Through the recommendation of my sister, my son has worked with John at Owl Test Prep for the past two years. John was an incredible resource during my GMAT preparations! He helped me make a 100 point jump! During our weekly two hour review session, we would work through key strategies/practice exams and do lots of practice problems. He provided me with a lot of other resources that helped hone in on specific areas I was struggling in. For example, two weeks before my exam I was having a mental breakdown on Critical Reasoning. I talked to John and he corrected a few techniques I was incorrectly using and I improved greatly. The materials just seemed to click afterwards! I've tried a lot of other resources but John Easter is the best one out there. If you're struggling and are familiar with the exam, definitely use John to make the most of your sessions. read more

I worked with John 2-3 years ago when studying for the GMAT. He tailored a study program based on my strengths and weaknesses.
