Initially, I was not in favor of public school and put my daughter in a charter school for kindergarten. There, I learned that smaller classes don't mean a better education. After a rough start there, I did a little more work on finding the positive attributes of public school. Cy-Fair really changed my outlook. While the elementary schools hover at around 1000 students each, I've learned that the teachers and staff can make that seem less overwhelming. Plus, an active PTO throughout makes up in the areas where the school needs help. My daughter is entering her third year at public school and loves it. I am so pleased Cy-Fair proved to me that public school is still a viable option even in a huge metropolitan area.

This year is a new principal, Ms. Cathy Jacobs is ridiculous! She offered me absolutely zero empathy or apology for any inconvenience to my circumstance. She simply repeated herself 3 times, as if I'm stupid or hard of hearing. I have enjoyed visiting with my children's teachers, peers, and most importantly my child at the end of the year holiday party. Apparently, there's a hard copy of a "News Letter" that I was suppose to receive and did NOT. I was suppose to get an email but got an email 2 day before the said event and the slots were full, when I sent 2 notes to the teacher 2 weeks prior to the event. My daughter said the teacher would email me and did not receive anything. This is not the first time that the lack of organization and communication has kept me from enjoying some time with my child. Oh and by the way, my email has not changed in 10 years! I am extremely dissatisfied with the principal her apparent lack of basic sense of humanity!

Wilson Elementary School is a glowing example of how public education can be done right…read more Each week, my daughter comes home with a weekly schedule and the teachers do so much to make sure the parents are informed on what is going on in the classroom. Even though the school has almost 1000 students, they still find the time to make you feel your child is special when you go to visit. Initially, I was wary of public education so my daughter spent a year at another school that did a poor job of educating her. Once I switched her to Wilson Elementary I realized how much she'd been missing out on while in the charter school. Wilson has impressed me again and again over the past few years and I am happy to have my daughter there. I feel so lucky to have such a great school near my home. A child's education is a priority and one of the most important things you can give them. Wilson Elementary is doing an excellent job of making sure my daughter, as well as all of the other students, is getting a foundation that will benefit them throughout her life.
