The guy painting my house ended up fixing the garage door opener in 3 minutes ..stay away from this place . Oh and the quoted me $150 just to look at the damn thing . Rude rude rude Right from the start the person answering the phone was rude & impatient. Spoke with a young woman who put me on hold for an extended period - then a rude gruff man answered the phone and took over the call. They weren't able to nail down a specific time for my appointment. I called the day of the appointment to ask where the tech was - they said he was "on his way". 2 HOURS later he arrived. When the service tech showed up - he said there was nothing he could do. I need to talk with sales. It was obvious they did not want to do the job. ( replace a garage door ) I will never contact or give them a positive recommendation. read more

We have a pair of doors that are 18 years old and Scott was the "whisperer". Although they no longer make parts for the units we have, he was able to tweak the openers and make them both function properly. He did discuss the next option of replacement, but by no means did he try to upsell. read more

A++ for customer focused service. When I called for an appointment, none was available on the day I wanted, but a "will call list" was offerred for the day I desired. I fully understood that there was a probability no one would show, but they did!!! (They were in the neighborhood and knew my job was quick) The ask was synching up a remote and car to the 2 door garage (a task I knew would take an experienced technician less than 30 seconds), but since the minimum labor charge is a 1/2 hour -- it came complete with a thorough inspection and lubrication of the two doors. High marks for me for proposing a solution that "might" work and lucky for me it did! read more

After many years of service my garage door opener chose the coldest time of year to finally break. I called around and discovered this was pretty typical and it actually quite a busy time of year for garage door repairs. Still it was only a few days before they were able to get to me and when they did the service was top notch. Josh the service technician was on time, friendly and did an excellent job of explaining what needed to be done to get my door working again. The end result was that I happily had a new garage door opener and springs for the door installed in only a couple hours! The new opener is so much quieter than the old one and much safer (the old one didn't know stop if it hit something). In the end the bill was about what I was told to expect and I felt it was reasonable compared to the other places I called first. I am so happy to be able to use my garage again! read more

I had a good and easy experience with Overhead Door Company. There was no pressure with respect to the sale. The representative was knowledgeable and quite friendly. The doors were installed within a reasonable amount of time from purchase and the estimated timeframe was on target. There was a minor hiccup with installation-the external/decorative hardware wasn't installed. A call to the company was received and the oversight corrected within one day of the call. I'd recommend OHD...I'm pleased with the doors, the cost, and the service. read more

The quality of the doors and installation were excellent . However the sales guy, Don, was awful. It started with the initial appointment for him to measure. After 3 hours past the appointment, we called, and he said he couldn't make it. He never called to say that. Then, we scheduled the installation. He called several times the week before to see if they could come before our scheduled date. We couldn't accommodate. The day of the appointment, I stayed home. After a few hours. I called him. He started by saying the doors were not in. Why did he call to try to schedule the week before, if the doors weren't in?. Then he said we were scheduled for next week. I had an email from confirming that it was the day I was home. They sent a guy later that day to install. The installer showed up and found Don either measured wrong or ordered the wrong doors. We finally got them installed a week later. The installers and office staff were great, but Don was terrible. He lied several times. This guy should be fired if this is how he treats other customers. read more

Extremley unprofessional company. I was riding my bicycle through downtown Portland when two of this company's workers started hurling abuse at me from their truck while stopped at a red light. It's very distracting to be yelled at/honked at while on a bicycle, and in turning my head to see where the yelling was coming from, I almost crashed into the car in front of me. Incredibly inappropriate behavior that would lead me to believe that this company has a problem with professionality in general. If you have to choose between overhead door companies in southern Maine, go with the one whose employees aren't a bunch of of knuckle-dragging lunkheads. I never would have expected to get into a heated argument with one of the employees within 5 minutes of his arriving at my residence. Poor service, poor attitudes of the employees, a perfect example of a business "only in it for the money". If everything hadn't already been paid for, I would have cancelled the entire job. read more

Did a good repair job--but completely lacked communication skills. I work out of my garage and had lots to do that day, everyday. I have a "prep" area which contains things that need to be cleaned and those things I with handle with gloves. He grabbed an unclean box (without asking) and moved it--then went about he work with what were already very dirty hands. Without warning he shut the garage door and I was left standing outside watching my stuff for about 30 minutes (in 90 degree weather) wondering what the crashing metallic sounds coming from my garage were. When I was finally allowed back in, I saw his none to clean ladder up against my easel and a painting I had been working on. Yes, I admit I am a clean freak. But I was perfectly happy to move things around for him and now I have a lot of cleaning to do. . read more

On April 22, 2014 I called to request an estimate to replace existing barn doors ant the option of installing a third door. I received a call back the woman stated she was covering for a person who was on vacation and that she would relay my request to him on Thursday when he returned. After waiting a month and never hearing from Overhead Door Company I called to speak with the Owner/Manager. The gentleman who answered the phone told me that the owner was out and that I should call back in an hour or so to see if the Owner/Manager had returned. I tried to leave my number so the Owner/Manager could contact me to resolve this issue and the person would not take my call back information. This persons statement that "these things happen and I had no reason to be upset only Fanned the Flames. Since as a prospective customer I do not believe I should have been content with this treatment. I would not recommend this company to others. read more
