I recently found myself in a frustrating situation at the U-Haul storage facility on Williston Rd…read more in Williston, VT. After traveling all the way from Maine, I realized I had brought the wrong key with me and had no choice but to call a locksmith. As luck would have it, a technician from Dion Locksmith was already on-site working on another job and kindly agreed to help me out afterward. While I truly appreciated the locksmith's willingness to assist and found him to be professional and efficient, I was very surprised (and disappointed) to be charged a $98 emergency service fee on top of the labor cost--especially considering I didn't request an urgent dispatch, and he was already there. I understand that companies have policies, but in this case, the policy felt unfair and inflexible. Charging for an "emergency visit" when no extra travel or urgency was involved doesn't sit right. Bottom line: The technician himself was great, but the pricing policy felt excessive and lacked transparency. If you ever find yourself locked out at U-Haul, bring a drill and a flat-head screwdriver--you may not need a locksmith at all.

I purchased a home recently and have been dealing with a lot of contractors to get it ship shape…read morebefore I move in. Contractors in the area are busy. It's summer after all. Many don't return calls. Some do but then don't follow up. Most can't make the time to fit you in for an appointment and even if they do, they may not show up. I've learned this the hard way. Despite some not great experiences, I've had some pretty good ones, too. I knew Jeff (guy behind the company) was busy as there aren't a lot of people who do what he does (slate roof repair), but even so, his voicemail said to email him. I did. He emailed me back right away (as in a few hours). He explained he was very busy but fit in time to pay my house a visit. He explained clearly what his fees are, how long he thought my issue would take him to fix, and that he wouldn't be free for a few weeks but that he could fit in time after if I was ok with that. I was. He emailed to let me know when he would be there. He asked me questions which I answered. He showed up. He did the work. He even started accepting credit cards on my request (wowza - I've requested it a few times this summer but he's the only person who actually did it). He followed up with me after the repairs to let me know what he had done, and to inform me that there were a few other issues at the top of the house that I should look into (I already knew about the issues, but it was good to hear he thought they were issues, too). It's impressive when someone who is in an industry that's not known for good communication or follow through does just that and then some. I highly recommend hiring Jeff based on my experience. There is no way for me to know with 100% certainty if my roof is ship shape now, but my gut tells me he did a great job. And communication and follow through is super important to me. He came highly recommended from my general contractor. I will definitely call him again if I need further work done on my slate roof.
