Hikes with cool endings are always my favorite. This one definitely doesn't disappoint. It took me…read moretwo visits to figure out how to get here since there's not a lot of info on this one. It's about a 5-mile roundtrip hike. There's some tall brush that you'll have to walk through at the end so you may want to wear pants and wear hiking shoes. There are a number of different trails that can take take you here. I started from the trailhead located at the end of Falling Star Ave in Thousand Oaks. The trailhead is a little hidden. It's located off to the right at the end of a cul-de-sac. Make your way along the curvy Hidden Meadow Trail. You'll reach a fork where you will need to make a sharp right continuing uphill on Sandstone Hill Trail. After a decent incline, take a left at the fork and continue to head in an uphill direction. The trail eventually dead-ends at a power line transmission tower. From there you will see the arch high up on the mountain. You'll then probably say to yourself, fogettaboutit! But it's actually not as hard as it appears. There's a small path marked by a cairn. You will need to power your way up the hill. The trail is well-marked but really overgrown with tall dry brush. When you get to the top head left. The trail will lead you to the backside of the arch. Be sure to spend some time reading the short messages and view the various trinkets left by behind by people. Relax in the cool shade. Climb on top of the arch and appreciate the views. I really liked the inspirational message someone wrote. "Hope you find your peace and enjoy the beauty of your surroundings...Push through the pokey brush and trust your instincts carving a path."

This is a difficult hike but worth it for the views. Lots cool rock features and several caves near…read moreby with cliffs that overlook the surrounding cities.

Great views for a 1 hour hike close by! A the end of Highgate road off of Triunfo Cyn. Park at end…read moreof road. Go thru opening..then a 1 min walk take steep dirt path on the right. There is a huge spot on left where they are perhaps building a large home. The path continues upward..not too tough. Then evens out. Great views of Westlake Lake on the right. Soon you'll see Las Virgenes Reservoir on your left.Such great views! Walk to the end when you see the back yards....then turn right and go up the hill .When you walk the loop back toward the left you'll see Eleanor Lake. The wild flowers are just beginning now...more to come.Super quiet, peaceful hike. Didn't see a soul! The hike took an hour. This is a kid friendly hike. Easy enough.. Best little hike in the area.

There is major construction, possibly of houses, at the recommended location to access this trail…read more I walked around for 20 minutes trying to find it. Then, when I found it, it was quite small, and narrow, and not of interest in the searing heat, especially with rattlesnakes right now. I would not have been able to see what was on either side of my feet with tall grass or brush. On the plus side (or negative side depending on how you feel about wildlife), several deer bolted out of the brush when I was walking around trying to locate this trail. Overall, I wasted a couple of hours trying to find this place and what I found (after searching around), was not worth it. Maybe that is the idea, so it stays wild. I should add that the pic with the wide looking road is where they are doing construction, not the trail.
