It was a truly magical experience. It was so magical, in fact, that I considered commuting to DC from New Haven so that I wouldn't have to take the kids out. The teachers are beyond wonderful, and deeply committed to fostering a love of learning through play. They also had the most epic healthy, home cooked food program. The kids play outside in all weather and really learn to embrace nature, and the teachers cater the programming to their curiosities and interests (we had a whole segment on bats :). All in all, this was a truly formative experience and we miss our Alphabet friends so much!

All three of my children are so different, but the teachers were so amazing at understanding and working with their different personalities and learning styles. I loved that the director was always visible and available, but clearly knew each child in the school. They all loved the outdoor space, we could never get them to leave! As busy working parents, it was such a bonus to have healthy and tasty chef made meals and snacks from their gourmet kitchen! And to know my kids ate it and enjoyed it! The kids stayed through kindergarten and that was the best decision we made. I feel so thankful for our time there and for our alphabet family!

Perfect teacher to student ratios, diverse learning/play areas, plenty of outdoor time, fantastic and healthy lunch and snacks created by two full time chefs are some of the ways that The Alphabet Academy outshine all others. My family has been very happy with our choice in childcare. The teachers and administrators really care about the kids and provide an environment that is not only safe and warm but creative and challenging. We love the emphasis on fresh, natural foods (all food is provided/included, which is SO convenient) and outdoor play. They also do a very cool "Summer camp" program where the kids have outdoor/water play all morning every day, and the preschool/pre-K kids have several field trips. There are also occasional "bonus" events such as an end-of-summer family party and Christmas-time pajama party for the kids. I will be honest, it's not cheap, but as with all things you get what you pay for!

As a Child Psychology major at Albertus Magnus College I did my "normal child" internship at St…read more Rita's. There is a reason that this day care fills up so quickly: the staff is fantastic! They become as attached to the children as the children do to them, sometimes even more. Hell, I bawled my eyes out on my last day and had to tell all the kids that they were "tears of happiness because [they] grew up so much." And I know that any of the other staff members would do the same. They are gentle with their discipline and give lots of hugs and kisses as needed. When a child was ill for more than a day it was a huge discussion and parents were called to make sure the child was OK. Doctor's visits were always discussed. I mean when I say they care, they are like your kids' other family. They really teach the children and they are amazingly advanced by the time they leave. An example: when I was working at People's United Bank one of the parents brought their children that I taught at St. Rita's and the three year old said "I was really mad that Mommy made me come to the bank, but now I'm happy because I got to see you, Miss Sara!" (He was a very silly kid, always trying to convince me that he didn't know how to color and then make amazing artwork). So why four stars and not 5? 1. The teachers aren't certified. Don't get me wrong, these people can TEACH, but when you're in a private day care setting with pristige I feel like parents are always looking for that certificate. 2. The big appeal is that your child is almost guaranteed a spot at St. Rita's school and that seems to be the primary reason that parents choose the day care and they capitalize on that. 3. They sometimes have a hard time with rowdier children, and children are rowdy. But the discipline is never an issue: it's always appropriate. Then again, I don't believe that there is one perfect day care, just a perfect day care for your child.

She's a mom, it's very apparent that she cares for your child the way she cares for her own 2! She was flexible with my awful work hours, and always had a briefing for me as to what my son ate and did for the day. I'm SO DISTRAUGHT that I'm relocating! Now I have to find someone as fantastic as she is. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone!

Ms. Lori, the Director and Ms. Candace, Asst. Director has created a safe and nurturing environment at their school. Mr. James and Ms. Sabrina are my daughters main teachers and they both provide such great direction for children to learn and grow their skills. There is also Ms. Alicia, who comes in and helps when needed and she is also great. It's so many excellent teachers that also help with early drop off and late pickup. You not only feel confident for your child's development and safety, but you also gain an amazing family community as part of this school. My daughter has attended Tender Care Learning since October 2015 and it has honestly been one of the best decisions so far because she's learned so much and is already prepared for kindergarten. The preschool's well rounded social skills, personal responsibility, and academics are only a few of the excellent areas your child will develop when attending Tender Care Learning. You feel so grateful to have your child learn and grow at Tender Care Learning plus to know they are in good hands and safe. I know my daughter will always greet me with a big smile every time I pick her up and want to show me what she's learned during her day. Her teachers are always there to tell me about her daily activities and anything else. They are truly a professional team. They keep their classrooms with a small group of students, so the teacher to student ratio is great. You will feel so happy your child is a part of such a great school/learning environment each day. We will be heading to kindergarten this Fall and will truly miss our Tender Care Learning Family.
