When it came time to enroll our daughter, our fears were different. She is immunocompromised, and sending her to daycare felt incredibly intimidating. They took the time to understand her needs, worked closely with us to create a plan to help keep her as safe as possible, and made sure we felt comfortable and supported every step of the way. Their compassion, flexibility, and willingness to partner with us meant more than we can ever express. They check in when our kids are sick, celebrate every milestone, and are always there with kindness, encouragement, and genuine support. We have found truly the BEST place for our kiddo to grow at OTR Cheshire. After having gone through a very traumatic experience at another center, our boy has never felt more safe, encouraged, and loved at OTR. The teachers are patient, kind, and brilliant. I've been very happy with the care my kids have received at Over the Rainbow. My oldest attended from 3 months until he entered kindergarten. My second child is attending now and will "graduate" this summer. The teachers are kind and engaged. The director has been extremely personable and supportive of my kids' various needs - medical and otherwise. Both of my kids have learned a lot of skills they can carry into grade school, including becoming very social kids who play well with others, through being able to write their own names. I can't say enough great things about Over the Rainbow in Cheshire. My child looks forward to going everyday. They have a very well structured play and learn schedule that she definitely benefits from. It's nice to have a place that feels like home/family. We have had our kids there for 5 years. From infant care to now before school care. Jamie and the staff are truly caring and attentive to the kids. This center has been really disappointing. The cheery exterior and the proximity to 691 don't make up for the litany of issues with this place. First of all, the manager of the location has a major attitude with parents and seems to have a permanent chip on her shoulder. The teachers at the facility are hit or miss. A couple are fantastic but many seem to be pretty disengaged with their work and several seem downright miserable. They're all smiles at pick up/drop off but pop in here during random hours midday and you'll witness frazzled teachers yelling at kids and/or disengaged "teachers" who are little more than babysitters staring blankly at a room of babies. The space itself is ok but not great. It's clean and secure which is great. But they lack an indoor play area beyond the classrooms which makes for long, boring days in the winter/rain/whenever said disengaged teachers don't feel like going outside...especially for kids ages 2+ who need to move and get some exercise. Even on nice days outdoor time is greatly limited here. One of the worst aspects of this place is how frequently they close. It's constant. We've moved around a bit and have experienced several daycares...but none come anywhere close to closing as much as this place does. Sure, most everywhere is closed on the typical holidays...but this place throws in even more closings leaving parents with the expense/hassle/scramble for childcare coverage on totally random days like Good Friday, the Friday before Labor Day, and random staff training days (which for some reason cannot occur on these other days they decide to close even though other businesses are open). It's ridiculous. And let's not forget weather closings! But of course, they charge the full amount regardless. Bottom line is don't judge a book by its cover. The cheerful exterior is a thin veil for a disappointing and frustrating daycare that fails at both customer service and quality care. Unsafe! My daughter attended the waddler room of Over the Rainbow in Cheshire, CT for exactly 5 days. On her final day she sustained a significant injury to her face requiring a Drs visit. I was not notified of her injury by any OTR staff. I immediately noticed it when I picked her up and questioned her teacher. The supervision of children is so lacking that she has absolutely no idea how or when she got hurt! This is the most significant injury that either of my children have ever sustained and I still can get no clarification of how it even happened! My pediatrician assured me that she would have cried after this injury for a prolonged period of time and encouraged me to report this facility to the state for neglegence. No administrative action was taken by the director or owner. Miss Jamie and Miss Emalee were completely aware of the incident and the lack of safety concerns for the children. The center LOOKS great and the director talks a great game. It is a bunch of lies. All they care about is money in their pockets and the state off their back. No communication to parents about SERIOUS safety and health. If your child currently attends this center I urge you to open your eyes! Look around. Don't let them trick you into sweeping your concerns under the rug. Especially in the infant room! Which my child did not attend but my heart breaks for the children left in that room. I could see them shaking cribs violently with a screaming baby in them while I was picking up. read more

My two year old started Over the Rainbow in the fall and we are very happy with the center. The teachers and staff are very nice and have gone out their way to ensure my little one is comfortable. We love the app that they use to send updates throughout the day; we always get lots of pictures and a summary of all of their activities as well as foods and bathroom/diapers. After only a few months we are very happy with the center and most importantly so is our daughter. read more

My children go to the Cheshire Over the Rainbow and they love it. The teachers are great, they get lots of outdoor time, and are always coming home with fun art projects. The building is big, bright, and clean. Since my 3 year old son started, he now knows his colors and loves singing the songs he's learned in school. My daughter is learning new words from her teachers all the time. 5 stars! read more
