I just wrapped up a 6-week training program with Dogtown's head trainer, Makenzie and had such an…read moreamazing experience. I have a timid, sometimes reactive and aggressive dog, who needed a lot of help with training. After an hour consultation with Makenzie, we decided to do three day & train sessions where my dog would go to their facility for a half day of training one on one with Makenzie, three at home 1:1 sessions in my dog's natural environment, and three hour long group classes. The amount that I learned in these 6 weeks was absolutely mind blowing. Training your dog is about practice and consistency, and speaking your dog's language, and Dogtown gave me the confidence and the knowledge to be able to train my dog on my own. The day & train opportunities were a wonderful way to start. Makenzie would train my dog 1:1 and then would send me videos about everything they worked on during their sessions. When I came to pick her up, Makenzie would show me what they worked on and how I could practice it at home. The training sessions in my own home were incredibly helpful as well. It gave me time to practice with my dog(s) in their natural environment and refreshers on what we had already learned, and building upon the skills she was learning. The group sessions were amazing for my dog, and any dog, to have an opportunity to practice in a new, overstimulating environment with other dogs that she doesn't know. Since she is apprehensive around other dogs, this was amazing practice for her. On top of everything else, the team is so friendly and kind, and the trainers are so knowledgable. I had the chance to take a group class with their trainer Maren and she was wonderful as well. Thank you to the team for teaching both me and my dog the skills to be better trained.

As a Draper resident, I can't say enough great things about Wendi Okabayashi and "A Heart 4 Paws."…read more Our rescued Black Lab/Great Dane mix had already been surrendered twice. He was jumpy, mouthy, pulled constantly on walks, and was honestly a handful. When we reached out, Wendi responded immediately and suggested meeting in a public place so she could observe him in a real-world environment. Within minutes, she had him figured out. She wasn't just reading the dog, she was reading us and showing how our communication was affecting his behavior. The transformation has been remarkable. He's now obedient, well-mannered, walks politely on a leash, and has become a cherished member of our family. What also sets Wendi apart is her kindness and thoughtfulness. When you work with her, you're not just hiring a trainer. You're building a lasting relationship. She truly cares about every dog she works with and has become an extension of our family. Even after completing her Board and Train program, she's always available to answer questions, offer guidance, and celebrate our progress. If you're looking for a knowledgeable, responsive, and professional dog trainer in Draper or anywhere in the Salt Lake Valley, Wendi is the person to call!

Thank you so much! Wendi is an incredible dog trainer! Wendi came highly recommended by a friend and so I did a group class with Wendi! I almost left right after arriving to the first group class as my dog, River, was letting out a super high pitched bark called a Shiba scream. I was so embarrassed by his bark I never even heard before that moment but Wendi was so kind to not let me leave and reassured me it would be okay and taught me what to do so that he stopped screaming and we could be successful during the group training class. That group class changed my relationship with my dog as I learned how to communicate and bond with my dog. I also did a few private lessons with Wendi to really learn how best train and lead my tough, independent, and stubborn Shiba. She truly changed my life and his as I could never imagine that I could walk him on a leash without pulling, let alone have him be calm enough to be able to take him kayaking with me!
