A person who shall remain…read morenameless dumped their dirty cleaning water down the toilet (my wife) along with the cleaning rag and plugged the toilet for the guest bathroom right before our guests were due to arrive on Sunday afternoon. I drove to Beartooth True Value shortly before they closed. Brian (the owner) helped us with selecting the right snake (less money). Mike who checked us out (an actual plumber) helped us select all the right parts if we needed to pull the toilet in order clear the plug. Brian gave us his cell number in case we needed to come back for a different snake or additional parts after hours. Repairs were a successful. Not only is it a great small town, locally-owned store filled with all of your hardware and lumber essentials that is staffed by friendly, knowledgeable local staff that lovingly helps take care of their community. It is that but it is so much more to me personally. You see, up until just awhile ago, it was owned by my dad. Now since my dad was the owner and manager of the store and I would work on/off at the place as a teenager, I didn't think I could really review this location without falling into some sort of conflict of interest. Now that my dad has retired (yeah!) and sold the business to new ownership, I think I can now give it a shoutout without any bias involved. I do want to give a quick shout out though to my dad. My dad worked long and hard at this business, building it from the ground up. He put so much of his life at this store, making sure to keep prices affordable, benefit his employees, and be a blessing to the surrounding community. He accomplished that for decades. He raised a family, put his kids through school, and have blessed his kids and his grandchildren immensely because of all that hard work. Each long, stressful day was worth it to my father because he greatly loved his family. I am forever grateful for his sacrifice and dedication to hard work. I love you dad! Ok, but this is not a review of my dad - on to the store! If you find yourself in the Hackensack area, this store has what you need for your cabin, camping trip, or day to day needs. Lots of selection that caters to various hardware and lumber needs including items such as coffee makers and outdoor décor. Items are competitively priced and friendly staff will help you find what you need. A good bonus - these folks live close by, so ask them about good fishing lakes, community events, best parking spaces for We-Fest, etc. They have the insider knowledge! Just recently I had an issue with a sales/promotional item that I felt was not properly discounted based on the promotional information. It was ambiguous but when one drives a number of miles and spends an hour to take advantage of a promotional item it is very disheartening to be refused based on a detail no customer could be expected to understand. After I made my case to Jeff the manager he agreed to honor the price as discounted by the promotion. This to me is a huge incentive to buy local and support friendly and fair businesses such as Ace Hardware in Walker MN. The item was a umbrella stand and it works perfectly.

On March 19, 2022 they contacted me and agreed they were defective and they sent me another pair which arrived after March 19th 2022. Now less than a year later I wrote them that the replacement pair has the same issues - cracked rubber on the uppers, cracked all the way through and no longer water proof. Today March 11, 2023 they told me the boots have a one year warranty. I am within the one year warranty but they do not want to honor the warranty saying the warranty started on my original purchase. I feel the warranty should start when the replacements arrived for the defective original pair. They were very sarcastic and belittling in their correspondence with me. The boots are Frog Toggs and junk. The Godfrey's True Value Hardware store is junk too. Beware as they do not stand by what they sell or the warranties they claim to give. Steve

Their selection of Big Green Eggs and accessories is incredible. We always make a stop here when in the Crosslake area and end up leaving with something Big Green Egg related. Super friendly and helpful folks, superb selection on everything they carry, and reasonable prices.
