Stopped by one night recently while in town with friends, what a cool space for live music and food. Eclectic mix of seating and tables and chairs. A small covered stage area for live music, walk up counter food service. I had the street tacos, a plate of three well prepared bean and cheese veggies tacos with mushrooms. Flavorful and filling, they hit the spot the night of my visit. Not fancy but good, fresh guac, pico and salsa, with a side of rice. My group grabbed a large table and half a dozen chairs. We were here from out of town. There was 8 of us. We stood around the main counter outside for about 20 minutes looking at the posted menu and waiting on someone to acknowledge us. An employee passed us a few times. Someone in the back saw us as well. We finally asked someone for help and we were told they closed early that night. ( there were people still sitting at tables so there was no indication they were closed)! Which is fine. But someone could have been kind enough to let us know rather than watch us standing around waiting to be helped for 20 minutes. The snub seemed purposeful. Perhaps because we were clearly from out of town ( I will leave it at that). We were able to go to Dogtown next door and get food. Service there was excellent and the folks were much more friendly. read more

OuterSpace is by far one of the coolest places in the little hippie town of Floyd, Virginia. Walking through the town, it is near impossible to miss the giant blue "Magic Bus" parked on the side of the road. Outerspace is an eclectic haven for creatives, artists, and the curious wanderer. The open air space is dotted with vintage diner booths and old school pinball machines mixed with elements of yoga and wanderlust. Awesome food. Awesome people. I'm local so I usually get the burrito bowl or big ass burrito. Both are super yummy and enough to feed two folks (you are welcome). However... they started doing a steak (filet) and eggs on the weekend. Simply can't get enough of it. Local grass fed beef. Local eggs. Dang. Nice!! Also they are one of the few folks open before noon on Saturday. Steak, eggs, potatoes, and some fruit ... along with a glass of red wine will really start your day off right. Soo chill at outerspace, have some eats and drinks then go explore the town. This place is as unique as, well, Outer Space! I'm always on the lookout for someplace fun and unique...outside dining is a bonus. Outer Space met all these wishes. I found some restaurants in Floyd County, so I decided to drive there with my family on a Sunday afternoon with my family to find someplace to eat. When I saw Outer Space, I didn't want to look elsewhere. It's is such a funky little space. I loved it! I believe that the restaurants primarily serves vegetarian options, and while I'm a meat lover, vegetarian meals cooked right are out of this world!!! I had a bowl recommended by the hostess, and it was sooo good with a huge portion to boot. I wish I could remember the name, but I'm pretty sure most anything on the menu is delicious. They offered a selection of smoothies as well, infused with nutritional supplements like hemp and CBD. This is a truly unique space, and it makes for the perfect weekend drive on a lovely day. Incredible vegan and vegetarian fare, with delicious drinks. Eccentric ambiance, and a lovely shop on the magic bus, service was welcoming and helpful for us first timers! Was a random stop for lunch on a work trip, and our only trip to Floyd but we both agreed to return to check out the town, and stop here again. Truly a delicious meal that left us fulfilled! What a great (outer) space! We saw this spot while downtown in Floyd on a Friday, but didn't come by until later in the weekend - so glad we did! Southern California vibes are abundant in this hippy-vibe food court on the edge of Floyd downtown. The space hosts three business: Lucky8 Cosmic Cafe ("Space Cafe"), Revolution Juice, Bootleg BBQ, and the Magic Bus. The Lucky8 Cafe has a breakfast menu + all-day nachos (SUPER DELICIOUS!), Revolution Juice offers juices and smoothies, Bootleg BBQ has BBQ, and the Magic bus has espresso and vintage finds. The food here is so delicious we ate here twice during our short stay in the area. Everything on the menu looked amazing but I loved the tacos so much I had them twice. My husband had the burrito the first time and the papusa the second time and he said both were wonderful. We will definitely return when we are traveling through again. read more

We ordered a brunchadilla on Saturday a little after 11. It was so tasty and melty delicious! I got an iced latte that hit the spot. The portion was very generous and it came with watermelon in the side, yum. The service people were kind and efficient. We sat in the shade on a hot day and were comfortable. Decided to treat George Millsaps to brunch for Father's Day. (also because I didn't make it to the grocery store yesterday lol). Ended up at Outer Space. Soo good! This place is one of the best and most consistent in the area - by far. Super great food, excellent coffee, kind and thoughtful staff, and live music.
