I have been a client of Outer Limit since 2007. And I chose that studio after first checking out at least 10 others. The reasons I chose Outer Limit are the same reasons I record there now. First and foremost, I'm a business owner in the mental health field, a speaker and an author. I have many recording needs for meditations, course materials, pod cast, books and overall background music. For that reason, my recordings and even the music created for the background of my recordings, are not only important to me but they are essential to my business and my brand so the quality must be excellent. My priority is expertise and excellence when it came to my choice! Ken - the owner is incredibly professional from the first phone call to the delivered product and any needed changes are handled with grace and speed. He is a great communicator and even a good coach so that your recording really becomes the best it can be by the time you finish. There are a lot of little things you might never consider when recording and he is right there to make sure none of them are missed! He is punctual, respectful and has a genuine education in audio engineering from Fredonia. Plus he has been in business for nearly 30 years and his reputation is outstanding among business owners and all kinds of musician alike. For whom it matters, Ken is not only a true musician who can come up with some amazing things when you need it for a commercial or something missing in song, but he has an arsenal of professional musicians who play every instrument you can imagine that will show up and help with your project with just one call from him. The studio itself is also professional. It has a welcome home kind of feel to it, where you can relax and record with ease. Ken is a true professional as a business man and as and audio engineer but he is also down to earth. As an aside, it's cool to record in a place celebrities even record and feel at home at. Ken is just a regular guy, not a celebrity with connections, but they choose him to record with. That's saying something! To give an example, they've recorded Eminem, Donnell Jones, Raheem Devaughn and that's just 3 of the many. But they've also recorded the sound bytes and walking tours for companies like the Albright Knox Art Gallery. His clients are people who are the best at what they do and they know the excellence is the standard for their recordings. Aside from that, and this might sound like a strange comment but also one thing that stood out to me, was that I felt safe. A lot of studios are run by people who just decided to start an studio and wanted to "get into the music biz." Or they have interns doing everything so it consumes tons of time and money. They have lots of gear and such but there was nothing professional about them - from the space they were in, to their demeanor, to their style of communication, to the people hanging around during your studio time, to the smell in the studio and just the lack of knowledge and expertise at large. That matters a lot. Outer Limit is for the serious recording artist or business who knows their recordings or music must be excellently and professionally done. I saw below that someone gave the studio a 1 -star review, but that person also admitted that he booked a session 3 times and didn't show and so the reason for writing a bad review was because after 3 no-shows, he was not allowed to book another session. I hope readers plainly see that review as total nonsense because it is coming from someone totally unprofessional with no regard for their own responsibility and who never even recorded at Outer Limit at all. Bottom line, this is the studio for people, artists and business owner who take their recordings serious. read more
