We needed a 10 X 16 shed built on site, which we learned is hard to come by. Kirk came out to see our land and reassured us that his company could do it. The price was fair. The 2 Hispanic men who built the shed (in about 8 hours) were competent and very hard workers who took pride in their handiwork. We were happy to not have to have an absolutely level area and the plywood floor was a plus. The wood was primed so we were able to easily paint it to match our house. Outbuilders built a 10x12' loafing shed for my pasture. They were able to match the colors of my barn and did a fantastic job. First time around they put the siding on horizontal which did not match my barn. Not their fault, as it should have been noted on the order. But after pointing it out, they immediately ordered new siding and came back and fixed it. It really says a lot that they made it right. BTW, my horses love it. I would use them again in a heartbeat. I bought a large chicken coop from Outbuilders in 2013 for about $1000. Yes, it was expensive, but I had time constraints to consider, so I have no complaint about the high price. It appears chicken coops are no longer being sold on the website, but they do have some pictures still. There were some good aspects of the coop and experience with Outbuilders, but with everything weighed together, I wish I'd found another builder. The coop is a common design that's been around for years. It is fairly sturdy and attractive from a distance, but the closer you get, the more flaws you can see, especially in the plywood cuts, which left a lot of air gaps around the nest boxes. The coop was similar, but not as pictured on the website and not as seen (in person) on the lot. I paid for a fully primed structure, but there were several parts that were bare wood. There was also supposed to be linoleum on the roost board for easier cleanup, but this was not included and Richard, the owner, stated it was a mistake on the website when questioned about it. Not a big deal, but again, not as described and paid for. There were also no latches anywhere and those had to be purchased and installed after the fact; not something you expect for a $1000 chicken coop. But the biggest problem with the coop is the spacing of the wall studs -- I don't think there's a 16" on-center anywhere in the coop and that has made it problematic to insulate and attach an automated door/lighting system. When dealing with a builder, you assume they are going to stick with tried and true practices for spacing wall studs in a structure. Perhaps that only applies when there are inspections to pass, but that is just a guess. My bad...for making assumptions. In fairness, Richard was friendly enough and, though he couldn't be reached by phone directly, he was quick to return calls. He had the coop delivered in a timely fashion as agreed and dropped it right where I asked. I really wish I could give Outbuilders a higher rating. I mean, the guy was very personable and had a lot of good stories to share while he was here. He was easily likable, but unfortunately, a good personality and storytelling skills weren't what I was paying a high premium for, so, while I have given a 3 star rating, it's actually somewhere more between 2.5 and 2.75. read more

The time from initial inquiry to completion of the project to build our 2 loafing sheds was very fast without a compromise in quality. We really liked the fact that we were able to make the design what we needed rather than being forced to used a certain design while still being able to get the cost benefit of them having standard designs. The pricing was very reasonable and service from Kirk and the whole team was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be using them again for future shed building projects! read more

I really dislike giving poor reviews. Bought a home in south Bend and knew right away I needed a big shed on the back lot. Initially, scheduled an consultation and met with the company onsite. Shed size to be 10'x 20' with upgrades in venting, worktop and shelves as well as heat barrier for the roof. Added a sliding window for ventilation. Explained to the estimator I had a significant amount of other work to do on the house and wanted them to paint the shed upon construction. No problem, part of the contract, but I had to supply the paint in the correct. color. I supplied the Miller paint company high quality paint at a cost of around $400. Never squawked about the contract price which seemed a little high. On the install date, the crew was about an hour late, no problem. They worked all day until 5 pm plus and were unable to complete the job as well as the shelving was not to contract. To their credit, they did return the next morning to complete the shelves to my satisfaction. Painting would have to be scheduled in the next week or so. I followed up with a call and they never scheduled so I ended up painting the damn thing myself. I should tell you that I have experience with sheds previous to this experience with another company. Overall the construction and materials are subpar based upon previous units I had built. The workbench top is rough with some nails not fully seated. Previous sheds had reflective coating on the inside of the walls. I will probably have to top the workbench with a layer of butcher block or finish grade plywood. I cannot recommend this company but you will judge for yourself. Cost to build: $7500. read more
