My meal was so interesting - a trio of Belgian specialties: meatballs in a sauce of carmelized onions and pear syrup (my fave!!); stewed chicken breast in mushroom cream sauce; and stewed beef in a sauce of brown beer and mustard . The room had windows viewing 180 degrees into the square for the perfect beer pics. The tender meat and aeromatic cheese squares were the perfect complement to thick pieces of bread. Two totally different beers were introduced and described for consumption which included the Delta IPA and the Golden Carolus Tripel. Both beers were light and refreshing, although after devouring an entire plate of cheese and bread, my belt buckle was about to snap. At the end of this dish, my tastebuds and tummy waited with eager anticipation for the next dish, which was the pigeon. I have never had pigeon before, and so wasn't sure what to expect taste wise. I have mixed feelings about the actual meat - it was a darker pink than chicken and more gamey and earthy than I expected. Not sure if I would get pigeon as a meat choice again, but this was a perfectly cooked breast that was placed on the plate in front of me. Again, all the accompanying items, but especially the broth were fantastic. I can rhapsodize about the depth and complexity and layers of the broth - it was beyond superlative and I borrowed a spoon to finish it off. Oh, I must also say that the wine list put together by the restaurant is fantastic! We ordered an Australian red - the Rolf Binder Shiraz - Grenache blend from Barossa Valley, and it was awesome! But there were tons of other win choices that looked super appealing, so kudos to their sommelier.

My Salmon was okay, the Mac was good, as per usual, but the poor service left a sour taste-- the server even shared some friendly banter with the people next to me but was stoic when it came to my table. When I walked by later, I found it was much busier (no surprise), so worth keeping that in mind. Also, worth noting, they have a small section of outdoor seating to take advantage of if the weather is nice.
