The initial design work was stressful given the costs of what we wanted versus what we could afford. However, once we settled on a plan, the process was incredibly smooth. Our project manager was Moe who was amazing. He was always available and dealt with any of our concerns immediately. The subcontractors were all wonderful. Everyone worked long hours and things moved along quickly (the entire process did require 6 months although everything was essentially done in about 4 months.) Things were always left clean and organized and the entire process was as stress-free as something like this could be. I cannot be happier with the outcome - we love our new room, porch, and patio.

The gentleman showed up about 20 minutes after I talked with him to apparently remind him he had an appointment. I explained what I needed to be done and he took a few notes down. After he left I forgot to ask when I will receive a quote, but I figured I would give them 4-5 days. 5 days later I did not receive anything, so I sent a follow-up asking when a quote will be sent. To this day I still have not received a quote and wasted my time with this company. Maybe they do good work, but they are not organized and also do not respond to a possible customer. I would not recommend them. Response to Hamed: I did not state any lies. We had an appointment at 9 am and I called you at 9:30, where you completely forgot and said you will be there in 15 minutes. You did show up about 15 minutest later, but only because I reminded you. There was no quote provided, and I did not request any electrical work done, so you are lying on your response.

We hired Sandro to dig out and underpin a basement (with full gut reno as a separate unit), renovate several bathrooms, and completely redo a backyard/patio. Having someone literally dig out your foundation while you live there is a harrowing experience. But SVC exceeded our expectations. Not only were SVC's prices far more affordable than the nearest bid by a huge margin, but they completed every task up to my high standards. Sandro was always flexible when we decided to make changes to the plan. And he was amazingly good at anticipating questions ahead of time and making sure that he had our input when necessary. Sandro handled all aspects of the renovation including the design, architectural drawings, permitting, sourcing materials, and building. Only the structural engineering was outsourced (to a structural engineer). My only complaint is that the project took slightly longer than estimated. Hard to fault too much, since this is the nature of the business. If you are on the fence, choose Sandro and SVC. It will be the best decision you make in your reno. I will absolutely be using Sandro again.

Atlas Moran Construction (AMC) helped us do a full kitchen renovation and some repairs in two of…read moreour bathrooms and a bedroom. Sean Moran, the owner, and the guys he works with did a great job with everything they helped us out with. There were a couple of things we were looking for in the contractor we would end up hiring. First, they had to be reasonably responsive with our understanding that we weren't their only clients. Sean was always very responsive. If he didn't immediately respond to a text/e-mail, or phone call, he would always get back to me within a few hours. Second, the contractor had to be very knowledgeable in that they could help us complete our vision, provide information that we requested, or feed us vital information that we overlooked but needed to know. Sean and his guys were always spot-on in their advice and definitely helped us understand what could work, what wouldn't, and what we should do taking into account our long-term plans for the house (potential rental down the line). Third, the estimated time to complete the work had to be reasonable. The times that Sean quoted were very reasonable and most importantly, they ultimately met all their timelines. I oversaw all their work and ZERO minutes were wasted during performance. Finally, the prices had to be competitive. We weren't exclusively entertaining the cheapest rates because when it comes to renovations, you really do get what you pay for. AMC's prices were extremely competitive, especially considering the amount of one-on-one attention we received during the entire process and the kind of experience and quality of work they bring to the table. This of course is generally an advantage of going with a smaller company. The renovations and repairs Atlas Moran Construction helped us out with turned out great. I should note that the renovations and repairs were completed through two different work projects, so obviously we were very happy with the first project that we went with them on the second one. We're currently looking at some complete bathroom renovations and you can bet that we're going with Sean and Atlas Moran Construction again! I highly recommend that you consider them too for your next renovation/repair project!
