Such a cool little hidden gem in Middletown! I didn't even know this place existed…read more I don't really know what to call Surreybrooke but it is a beautiful manor with grounds, a garden center, and venue area. The manor is marked as private even though it is visible from other parts of the property. You can definitely see the growth of the plants over the decades of time but this is something so unusual to see in this area and that in itself is truly spectacular. Take 20 minutes to stroll through this place, you may find that you end up staying a bit longer.

This place was so amazing. I was visiting from Washington, DC, staying nearby in Bedford for the…read moreweekend. I've had such bad luck finding plants and shrubbery for my yard. After striking out twice at other businesses in the area, one of the shops suggested I look here. You know what? They have just about everything you could imagine. I had a few plants that I couldn't find anywhere in the DC or Baltimore area. I must have called about 20 different shops. Not only did this place have what I was looking for, they had about 5 different versions of the same plant. Each of the staff members went out of their way to talk me through what type of soil I needed, where to plant each one and tips on making my yard grow better. I was writing so much of it down, since they were such a wealth. I've never seen so many plants, and it was reasonably priced. I honestly may make this my go to plant nursery each year. It's worth the drive from DC.

My fiancé and I travel from Frederick at least once a month just to see what new gems this place…read morehas acquired. For shabby chic, recycled, or repurposed furniture, YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER PLACE than La Rouge. Furthermore, YOU WILL NOT FIND BETTER PRICES for these treasures. Upon our first visit in early 2017, we noticed that larger furniture pieces were prolly $100 less expensive on average than comparable items in Frederick boutiques. We have not complained. And, by the way, EVERYTHING they have is quality. No junk. No roll your eyes. Just a lot of "wish I needed one of these too". For the record, we have purchased a dresser, a few mirrors (including one BIG one), two lawn ornaments, paint, a yardstick, a wine rack, and a beautiful coffee table (off the top of my head). And I'm a dude. I don't even like shopping. Not usually. La Rouge is an exception. Lastly, the service is friendly and attentive. This place is dope.

They forgot to send one of the pieces i ordered so i had to pick that piece up on my own and was promised a $100 credit for my troubles which i never received. The biggest complaint is that my table was delivered damaged and she told me to keep it for use while she ordered me a replacement, a month later, i asked where my table was, she thanked me for REMINDING her?! Then the day she was to bring it, it is defective as well and she has to order me a new one and they have a no refund policy but I'm welcome to exchange it! And then she shouldn't return my texts or calls becsuse her phone 'was out of service' You can't charge people for good you haven't delivered on so i have called the credit card company and disputed this portion of the charge and made the defective table available for pick up at her convenience. I will never shop here again and have made my friends aware as well. Word of mouth travels and you could have made this okay by simply doing the right thing by your customer!
