We spent two night tent camping and had a great time, overall. The site was close to real bathrooms and showers, which was a huge bonus. The campground staff was friendly and happy to help out when needed. Our site itself was more gravel than grass and the way the fire pit was situated and anchored to the ground made the space for our three tents pretty limited but it worked out. I brought a campfire grill to go over the fire but was happy to keep that clean in the car after seeing that the fire pit had a built in one! Excellent touch! The lake was nearby and had quite a few swimmers, sunbathers, and people fishing. The ground squirrels and cranes are fearless and super cute. They will come right up to you. The hiking trail across ZZ is a nice, flatter, shorter hike but super cool, especially the clear water and bubbling springs in the stream! For a much more difficult hike we went nearby by car to the Pinewoods trails. The 6 mile loop had a ton of large elevation changes that made for a great workout among the beautiful pines and valleys. We will definitely return, but will inquire about a grassier site near the bathrooms. Oh, and Knuckleheads Pub in nearby Eagle is definitely worth a stop! It was raining heavily when we arrived so that was our dinner spot the first night. Looks like that will be my next review!

Breakfast over the fire! The grate was already there!

Nice grounds and pretty lake but next to a kennel where dogs bark all night and right off the main road with cards going all night.

This was exactly the experience we were hoping for! Cabins come with mini fridge outside grill, firepit, beds, couches, and tv with cable. The park itself has WiFi. We brought our two dogs and they are having a blast. The lake is a short walk down the hill and perfect place to take a little swim with the pups! If the cabin wasn't rented out for the weekend we would of stayed the entire week. We might even come back after this weekends renter is out. This place is absolutely amazing if your looking for a rustic romantic get a away! Bring bug spray!

These cabins are being restored over the fall and winter of 2018 and will be ready for overnight rentals starting May 1, 2019. Each open cabin is about 400 square feet consisting of bunk beds, a full size bed, pull-out couch and kitchen table. Each cabin has electricity, however there is no plumbing. Fear not, there is a hand pump well and seasonal restroom centrally located between the 4 cabins as well as showers and flush restrooms just up at the hall for your use. The cabins are right on Friess Lake too which is 121 acre lake with a maximum depth of 48 feet. It's a perfect lake for fishing, swimming, and paddling a kayak, canoe, or paddle board (rentals onsite)! Glacier Hills is located just 2.5 miles from Holy Hill in the beautifully Kettle Moraine! We parked at the south unit, where there's plenty of parking, and set out on the trail during the first week of September. Be prepared for mosquitoes; definitely bring repellent and consider wearing dark-colored clothing. The trails are generally well maintained, though some areas have taller shrubs. We saw a couple of Indian springs. Overall, it's a fairly easy and enjoyable hike.

Easily accessible from Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago, it feels remote without being too far from the closest cities. I've camped in the Pinewoods Campground here for many falls- and biked both the Emma Carlin and John Muir Trails. The mountain biking is great, but (as a novice) I always bump the given difficulty levels up a notch. Medium is Difficult, etc. Ottawa Lake campgrounds is good for families who want direct access to the Lake. The Lake has a beach, a fishing pier, a dog pier, kayak/canoe launch. Pinewoods sites are actually really secluded. True to name, they're amongst towering pines. The facilities are cleaned once a day. Scuppernong Trail is a great system of a few hikes amongst the pines, and the Scuppernong Springs Nature Trail is an easy hike with bubbling springs, that the family will love.
