For those with young children, you'll appreciate the two separate play structures tailored to different age groups as well as the gigantic grassy field perfect for field games and picnics. The play structures include a number of modalities like swings, small slides, and climbing structures. The flooring is tan bark so be careful with splinters. Those looking for an outing to hang out or share food can take advantage of the many picnic tables and barbecue pits scattered around the park. Trash cans are also readily available so needless to say, the park is quite clean. Most of the tables sit under trees so you'll be shaded from the beating sun most times of the day. They also have a small, well-maintained basketball court with nice nets for a pickup game. I've rarely seen anyone playing so if you do come with your own crew, you'll have some private time to yourselves. Street parking is available but if you drive further in, you'll be able to make use of their parking lot. There are some small shaded areas in the lot and plenty of spaces. Overall, Birch Grove Park checks all the boxes for park goers and it seems the city does a great job to maintain it so it'll hopefully continue to be for years to come!

Two playgrounds - one for smaller kids and the other for bigger kiddos, a basketball court and plenty of open green space. Open and clean bathrooms. A plus right there. Lots of trees that provide shade for the playground. Sandbox for the kiddos to make sand cakes. Cons - none! Of course it tends to be busier on the weekends. We've gone usually in the mid-morning and it's not crowded at all. Families or groups are setting up for their parties. Otherwise it's a great neighborhood park.

Just a street away from supermarkets, cafes and popular eateries, Northgate Community Park is a common suggestion in between errands, especially if it involves playgrounds. It's also just a few blocks from the highway entrance which makes this place an easy meet up spot for out of towners. Parking is abundant in the private lot but also plenty available along the street. The kids have a great time here due to the open play area and variety of modalities within the play structures. The play structures were recently upgraded and includes swings, slides, climbing walls, ropes, balance beams and steps. The ground is all padded and there are plenty of benches for those looking to have a comfortable vantage point to keep an eye on your little ones. For field activities, they have two large grass fields frequently used as cricket fields with some local pick up games. The perimeter is also very walkable with paved sidewalks for those looking for a route for their four legged furry friends. Basketball courts are also available but pretty limited. For families looking for a spot to hang, they have a nice picnic area with benches and tables, however, it's not shaded so you may want to bring your own covering or find a spot on the grass instead. There aren't that many spots so you may also want to come early to reserve them or go through the city to secure a spot. They had bathrooms before but I believe they were under maintenance when we last visited and they only had the portable potties available. Overall, Northgate Community Park has some of the most unique playground structures and best maintained in the area. Its location is also a highly travelled one for those aiming to couple the day outside with a meal or some productivity. This quiet park is frequented by locals and you're bound to meet some new friends from the neighborhood!

This community park, is pretty big with a decent sized parking lot. The park is pretty clean, there wasn't much trash or anything else lying around except for a shopping cart, lol. It has one basketball court, with nets attached to the baskets. I believe there is a volleyball court, however you need to bring your own net in order to play. There's like at least 3 baseball/softball fields here for you play either one, so that shouldn't be a problem. Now, for the little younger ones, there are 2 playgrounds. One for little ones, and one for older ones to play in. There pretty well kept, clean, and easy for kids to use. This community park, does have a restroom/bathroom for you to use, although I've never used it before. Overall, this is a great park to spend sometime just to chill, play, have fun, be athletic, and be outgoing! I've had some great memories playing at this park with some of my best friends. We all had a great time. I'm sure you will too, if you just do something fun! The reason I gave it 4 stars is because it's a big park, but not all of the park is being used.. There's a lot of empty space filled with grass that could be put to better use. I've taken pictures of the park as well.
