The store is down the street a couple miles from main street in Old Forge so you wouldn't walk there from all the other shops, you'd have to make a specific stop for the store but I think that stop would be well worth it. They have a decent selection of nice gifts from jewelry and hats,shoes,clothes to more traditional photo albums, etc.. They have more locally made items then most of the other Adirondack stores in Old Forge and the prices are pretty reasonable on most of the items. When I went they even had good sales on certain shoes and hats. There was one item I was interested in getting and the woman let me know that she was out of them and let me know they were china made and not locally made and I'm glad she brought it to my attention. I respected her for putting down the cheap stuff she carrys probably just due to demand from some customers, it really just let me know how much pride she took in gelling quality gifts and not putting the cheap items on the same esteem.

Beyond that, there is light fixtures, handcrafted tables, kitchen supplies, wedding items and much more. The store itself is very big so you can get lost pretty easy. The staff is friendly and willing to help you. It was nice to just walk around and get lost looking at all the different items they sell. Next time we are in Old Forge, we will definitely be stopping here for more household items!

But now, it's near and dear to my heart, not just for the rustic decor and furniture that have graced our family camp's interior for years... But because of the books... Old Forge Hardware's vast bookstore is hands down the largest and broadest in genre scope for 100 miles, stocked to the stacks with ADK history, Art, how-to books, true crime, kids' books, adult fantasy & my favorite: HORROR. Unfortunately he does not have any automatic start switch snowmobiles and we 4 girls had a hard time starting the machine. You had to pull the lever to start. John came to save us when my snowmobile got stuck in snow and the engine died. On the second morning John came to start the machine for us. We were very thankful for his kindness. John is very funny. If you are man, there is no issue but if it is going to be a group of girls, i recommend that you find a snowmobile with start switch.
