The only way you'll be seen right away is if you're in an ambulance or an older person. The staff can be nice at times but other times they have a tendency to be neglectful and rude. The few times I've visited for myself or for other people the staff were all over the place. Nobody was on the same page. Each time the staff would come in with no real information and made no real attempt to inform the patient of any news updating them on their situation. I've waited in an almost completely empty emergency room before for over four hours with no information on when I'd be seen or how long the wait could possibly be. I have needed to go to the Oswego ER 3 times in the last 3 months - only because urgent care was not open at that time. Every time I was treated well by nursing and administrative staff and see that they have a lot to deal with, as every time I've been there has been police bringing in unruly people, some drunk, etc. They have a lot to deal with and do a great job! I was not so impressed with the doctor I saw on the first visit. He basically laughed at me wondering why I thought I might have a blood clot and then went on to laugh at me for taking vitamins and supplements and said I was wasting my money. Ummm...mind your own business? The second time I saw an NP, who was professional and took care of the issue. The third time a saw a PA who pretty much dismissed what I was there for and did not address the issue. Thankfully I was able to see my doctor shortly after that who did scan the area to see what was actually going on. So a mixed bag when it comes to doctors/NP's/PA's. It's not like I like to be at the ER late at night when I could be in bed at home. I went because I felt like I actually had an issue. Additionally, I'm self-pay. So if it was nothing I would obviously wait to see my doctor for $100 rather than go to the ER at least $1000 a pop every time I go. read more

I visited the ER on July 21 expecting to get some answers for swelling in my leg and a lump in as well as swelling in my abdomen. The only time the ER doctor put his hands on me was to listen to my lungs the rest he just made observations sent me for tests. Sent me home with a prescription for a water pill. I wanted answers and got jack. I should have went to Crouse. Plus they sat me in a wheelchair in the hall way across from the soiled linen closet and I was completely ignored for hours. Cold, in pain, thirsty, and had to go to the bathroom. No one asked me if I needed anything. read more

It's a hospital. That's all I got. Service has been hit or miss. Generally I receive better service when seeing a specialist, the wait in the emergency room (or that second waiting room that makes you feel like you're being seen, but you're really not) isn't terrible in comparison to my experience in bigger cities. Maybe for a small city like this one it's a long wait. The worst service I've gotten has been the emergency room, it was an emergency so not much option but to go. I prefer the Fulton location, nicer folks there. Like I said it's a hospital. read more

My father was brought to er. He is 94 and we all understand not being able to be with him. The Dr said they would call in 2 hr. Well a dietary worker called after one and half and said he was wandering around the parking lot. My sister got him but then they would give no info because he is coherent. No response on why no one called as they said they would. That is poor treatment of an elderly man and I work in healthcare and can't imagine how that would happen read more

Mixed feelings.. the nurses in L&D are AMAZING i couldn't have asked for better nurses. The emergency room is terrible though, nurses in there were extremely rude to me when I went in during my pregnancy. I've gone in before for coughing up blood and waited 3 hours 2-5AM and wasnt seen so i just left since i hadnt died or fainted or anything. and also laserated my middle finger waited about 7 hours with blood gushing out onto a dirty towel for me to be seen, 6 stiches later my finger is now crooked and have nerve damage that they didn't care to check up on. So basically its a good place if you're not there for the ER imo. read more

My mother has had the misfortune of having to be hospitalized SEVERAL times over the past 3 years. She has been in Oswego, St. Joe's and Crouse. Of ALL of these, Oswego has been the best choice, by far. The nurses are professional and caring. The doctors are there early in the AM and again in the evening. DESPITE many of them having their own office to be at. They are courteous and will actually LISTEN to the patient and the family. The housekeepers and EVERYONE else that works there (Oswego) are at the top of their professions. When we chose a hospital, WE CHOSE OSWEGO. read more

The doctors are good but the billing is ridiculous. Nothing is bundled and get multiple bills for a single service some of which went right to collections without even giving me a chance to pay it first. Had one bill that I paid on time and it still went to collections and showed up on my credit report. I had to call up they admitted the mistake and removed it but the unorganization is ridiculous. I will never go to another doctor affiliated with Oswego Health again for this reason. read more

This place is the worst friggin place to go to, they make you wait a full day pretty much before even getting to you then want to yell at you just for asking why there is a long wait even when you're back in a room. Your symptoms will get worse and you could die waiting for them to give you the help you need. There's barely ever a doctor around and the staff is rude and lazy on their phones half the time waiting for time to pass. Small but serious burn on my hand, 2 hours in the waiting room, 30 min in a room waiting for the doctor, the doctor comes in seemed professional and like he knew what he was doing said they would give me ibuprofen to take, put burn cream on and wrap it to avoid infection or any further damage, the doctor leaves the room I wait another 30min a very rude RN comes in says here's your discharge paper and kicks me out when I asked her about what the doctor had told me she said nope and that I could buy the ibuprofen myself that "you can afford to buy it yourself I'm not asking the doctor he's busy" unless you're bleeding out I suggest driving somewhere else because this was not only the worst service but the worst medical attention I have ever received in my life! read more

Just had my first ever surgery at 71 years old all of the staff at this Hospital were great very professional and clean and caring they treated me with respect and helped me to calm down as i had never been in a hospital before it has been a week since my surgery and I have no problems or any complaints with my experience at this hospital if i need a hospital in the future this would be my first choice thank you Oswego Hospital. read more

Do not go to this hospital if you are sick. They are very slow, dirty, rude. i had brought my daughter there and signed in my grandson because he had pink eye and very bad cough. mind you he is 11 months. we sat there for 2 hours and nothing. I ask the nurse how much longer and she said very rudely "it will be 2 or more hours". Well we left. and will not go there again. read more
