The Fisherman Pie, which was Haddock, Smoked Haddock and Salmon in a Creamy Leek & Chive Sauce, topped with Mash Potato and Isle of mull Cheddar, was delicious. Even the Seasonal Vegetables, which were served with the pie was really good. On top of that, they had a nice long list of ciders to select from and they had the Kopparberg Strawberry & Lime, which is one of my favorites.

On entering it is a spacious and cosy looking bar that is definitely suited for tourists with a collection of beer mats almost being used as wallpaper to cover most of the free space behind the bar, some of which I had never even heard of! The decor and feel to the sitting area itself is traditional with a modern fusion, little tweaks like old spirit bottles (JD mainly) being used as candle holders are excellent to the vibe of the place and really let you settle happily in to one of the booths and take the surroundings in. We went in here because my better half was feeling hungry (I was saving myself for the North Berwick Fry which is just next door to the Ship Inn, in hindsight I should have eaten here) and decided to pop in here for a drink & a bit of lunch/dinner, we definitely weren't disappointed. A chicken and bacon burger was ordered and a chicken and bacon burger it was. Where the chicken that this chicken breast came from I don't know but it was definitely doing some serious weightlifting and bulking up. It was MASSIVE, in all it's chickeny beauty I found it hard to resist taking a huge bite out of the burger. Long stoy short, I ended up taking a huge bite out of the burger. The chicken was beautifully juicy for general pub grub and the bacon was lovely, sweet but slightly salted which gelled all the flavours of the breaded chicken and the toasted roll together. Thinking about it now, I'm getting hungry again. Every time I have a pub burger, the side salad always lets it down, every time, it's like the bars expect people not to eat it, but not this bar. The salad was crisp and fresh, served up with a deliciously sweet vinaigrette that was perfect for dipping a wee bit of the roll in. The spirit measures were 35ml and the guest ales on offer covered breweries such as Innis & Gunn and The Inveralmond Brewery (who do beers such as Lia Fail and Ossian) which justified the bar being about 60-70p more expensive than the others we visited.

Still loving everything about this coffee shop! If I were local, this would be my go-to haunt (as…read moreit is, whenever I'm in Edinburgh, I take the train just to come here and then walk the beach). The large interior has an industrial vibe while still feeling warm and welcoming, the courtyard outside is a perfect place to enjoy some sunshine (the upstairs is only open on the weekend). Get a cold brew or an iced latte or an iced Americano with oat milk - it's so good! They also have a few bakery items, including a vegan banana bread that is DELICIOUS (one of the best I've ever had). It's a thick, moist slab loaded with nuts and dried cranberries maybe? There's just something "more" to it that makes it special. I recently bought beans (flavor notes of "jammy" and "honey"; it's SO GOOD), and it seems like I can reuse the canister for a discounted refill the next time I'm here! I believe they even grind them if you want. They also have some really cool merch (tote bags [I own], beanies, shirts, etc). #CoffeeAndSocialSolidarity

We came to North Berwick from Edinburgh for the day via a very easy 30 min train ride. Steampunk is located in the back of a building on the main street of North Berwick. It is sparsely decorated but the theme seems to be related to bicycles. We stopped in for midday iced lattes and a snack. The lattes were good and I appreciate their to go cups and straws are all paper based. The granola bar we grabbed did not impress me at face value but wow was it delicious. Like chewy granola with some cinnamon added in. It was the perfect sweet pairing to the latte. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating here.

Although, since loading it's…read moreinformation, I discovered it started out life as a florist - which explains the arrangements and floristy/homey things for sale in the cafe. The cafe's owner, however, opened on the dot of 10 when she saw two hungry day trippers loitering in the High Street; we'd actually been exploring North Berwick for about two and a half hours by then, so breakfast was something to look forward to. Disuaded from toast and jam by the knowledge I would probably smell The Beloved's bacon roll and wish I'd had that....we got two coffees and two bacon rolls. And it's worth the drive. No re-heated bacon here! Soft fresh rolls, tasty bacon (I still can't figure out how she cooked it that was different from normal!) and good mellow tasting but strong coffee. And all insanely cheap! Service was excellent, the shop section was cute and added a cosy, sweet, "tea at your gran's" sort of atmosphere, food was not haute cuisine (but who's looking for that first thing in the morning after beach combing?!) and the rhubarb sponge looked amazing. We meant to go back - and we were given a 10% off voucher for our next visit, so we just might have to head back down there on our next available weekend.....!

What better than Charlie's Cafe. Thanks to Kay L's previous review, I had this place in mind as a potential stop off and very glad that we did go in as it was lovely. Possibly the fact they were also doing a scone and cuppa special helped lure us in too, can't remember exactly what it cost, but I'm sure it was a bargain £2.50 pp. Warmed scones with jam and clotted cream, served up with coffee or tea and I'm positive we got free re-fills of tea and coffee! All this combined with an hour or so of gossip - perfect!
