This is a 30 acre park in the Rock Island neighborhood, which was an unincorporated pocket between Ft. Lauderdale and Oakland Park. The park is located next to the Bryant Branch Library. The park was once a cow pasture that was donated in 1967 by Mr.Joseph Osswald, a local businessman and land owner. He wanted the land to be used for public recreation. In 2005 Rock Island was annexed by the City of Fort Lauderdale. Today the park is one of the largest in the city and serves as a community gathering place that provides educational, recreational, and play opportunities. The park has a recreational center, two ball fields, three shelters, two tennis courts, racquetball courts, two covered basketball courts, a jogging exercise path, outdoor fitness stations, kids splash pad, playground, three hole golf course, and a lot of iguanas. Whether you want to exercise or play, Osswald Park has something for all ages.

And I scored the avocado tree i wanted. I eat one of these 3-4 times per week, love them

Very nice clean park, easy access with plenty of parking. Several ball fields and well lit for nighttime games. I was there for a city of Ft Lauderdale tree giveaway and they did an amazing job. Well organized from registration to laying out the various trees all labeled with information on eash

I do like there were some seating area for the adults to sit and watch, but there are some spots you can't see unless you follow them. We were there on a week day mid-morning, so it wasn't packed. The kids had a great time. There is a cafe on site, but the menu was limited so we opted to go elsewhere (walking distance) to grab a bite to eat. If you're visiting Ft. Lauderdale and are in the area with little kids, this is a great spot to cool off while the kids burn their energy off.

Unfortunately a few Things fell short starting from the arcade that's right in the middle and you do have to pay extra for. So on top of paying the entry fee you have to pay for each game. Which is fine in a way but there's no way to avoid children from seeing it, so you see multiple children having meltdowns of the parents say no to the arcade including my nephew. The city area was so cute! But no toys for them to play with so for instance the market had literally no toys, no play food or literally anything. We looked everywhere and they weren't even hidden in the ball pit (which was a hit with most of the kids) The staff was sweet and friendly and the place was cleaner than other indoor playgrounds we've been to so that was a plus but I don't know if we'd go back
