We came on a weekday morning with 3 toddlers who were very excited to see some airplanes, and that's exactly what they did! There was thousands of them! If you or someone in your family is a fan of airplanes/helicopters, this is the place for you. We had so much fun touring the different aircrafts, watching the planes and helicopters fly, and people watching! The parking situation at the designated lot was easy, and from there they have buses running to the actual show grounds. This space is HUGE -- wear comfortable shoes! There are trams running periodically up and down the main road, but once it becomes busy they are few and far between - we ended up walking all of it (with a wagon for the kiddos). We probably experienced 5% of the offerings at the airshow, but wow did we have fun. If you've got a toddler, I recommend grabbing some noise cancelling headphones so they can enjoy the fighter jets if you're lucky enough to catch a show! We enjoyed some popcorn, ice cream, pretzels, and frozen lemonade while wandering around. Delicious classic fair food that was reasonably priced. We can't wait to come back as our son gets older and continue to make memories here!

Oshkosh. My second home. I've been coming here for the airshow and to visit friends for more than…read more35 years. It has grown a bit in that time, but is still a friendly, fairly small city, with a welcoming Wisconsin character. There's a revitalized downtown, lots of local history, decent shopping and dining, plenty of access to the water, and more. I started coming for the airshow, and EAA clearly has a big impact on the town, culturally and economically. Every summer for a week, aviation enthusiasts flock here (and many live here and nearby.) The residents are mostly welcoming and supportive of this (though many flee for the week, often renting out their houses.) For that week, and much of the rest of the year, aviation is central to the Oshkosh experience. The museum is awesome, and there are many other events throughout the year. Don't miss the old-time ice cream and root beer drive-ins, Leon's and Ardy and Ed's. Check out the other museums, and the small zoo. Get out on the lake. And go for a flight over it all. This is my 2500th review, and I wanted to choose something special, so I chose Oshkosh. Special to me, and a special place to many.
