This is a free museum with beautiful views of Lake Winnebago and the world's largest collection of…read moreglass paperweights. Look up in the atrium (more glass sculptures perched above the entry door) and definitely visit the second floor, which has glass German drinking vessels dating back to the 1600s. The conference room not only features the eyecatching flat sculpture people posted, but displays of more glass art, including drawers and drawers you're encouraged to pull out, with more beautiful paperweights. It was lovely to see some glass "fancies," which I'd read about. The flowers in glass, the cameos in glass, and the tiny fruits in glass attracted me more than the very extensive and beautiful millefiori paperweights. It's surprising how old some were - apparently a Venetian paperweight looked much the same in 1840 as they do today. Notable among the modern pieces was a southwestern etched glass pot, lit stunningly so it cast a shadow of the design. There are also two TV screens running videos of people making glass art objects, which made me want to immediately run to the gift shop. Do visit the gift shop. Items range from glass marbles (75 cents) to art glass (much of it paperweights) in the high hundreds or thousands of dollars - at least one looked to be a near duplicate of a piece on display upstairs. There are also many affordable pieces: I was there in the fall, so there were tiny glass bat charms and glass pumpkins, in addition to some very affordable and pretty vases and ornaments. Walking through the museum took me about an hour; I like glass but didn't open all the drawers, and one of the galleries was closed while they put an installation in place.

Having gone to the art Institute as a young adult I enjoyed the glass paper weights the most. Now…read morebeing an older adult and being in Neenah I had to check this out. I would say I spent maybe 45 minutes to an hour in the museum. You just wonder from room to room looking at everything. My favorite were the plain old glass paper weights that were round. I was surprised that it's in a neighborhood area across from a park. Afterwards, I see it outside the museum and just took in the beauty. They also have a gift shop with nice glass things in it be sure to go to the second floor where they do have a little more to see.

We were planning a trip to visit family and one of our stops was the Building for Kids…read more They have a great monthly membership rate that includes two adults and children, along with up to two guests. All of that for $20 per month. The thing I was most excited about is that right now you have to pre-register for a two-hour time slot. That way it doesn't get overly crowded in there. There are levels and levels of things to do, and so many things that teach great science lessons!! They have a very large arts and crafts area as well, with a toddler station right next door. We really enjoyed that they also had a quiet room. We have a six-month-old and needed to take a lunch break. It had a glider, all sorts of seating that is comfy for kiddos of all ages, as well as some quiet time activities. I highly recommend parking in the red parking ramp across from the entrance. Parking is free on Sundays.

They're constantly going around and cleaning up the toys so there's always toys in the proper area. All of the exhibits worked, which is rare at places like this. The lab was awesome, the gentleman working the exhibit was very engaging with all the kids. The water ramp was very slippery so be careful, should have a rubber mat for safety.
