This year my girlfriend and I decided to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday together. It was a doubly special occasion because it was also the first time that our families would meet (save for our mothers, but that's a story for another time). My mom and brothers and I were walking around downtown the day before turkey day looking for a florist and happened upon OSHi.
Mom was looking for a quick/cheap arrangement just to say thank you to my girlfriend's parents for hosting everybody - I think she was hoping to find something pre-arranged like you'd find in your local grocery store florist. So when we walked into OSHi I was quite certain we wouldn't find anything in our price range. The place is definitely classy, and you can tell they do most, if not all, of their business in custom arrangements.
We asked the man at the front desk about pricing/availability and explained the occasion and our hesitations about purchasing a custom arrangement (short background: my family is newly poor). He just asked for us to give him a price range and told us that we would be taken care of..he was, in fact, the owner of the place - "Mr. Oshi" (though when pressed, or if you pickup a card, you'll find his name to be Perri Crutcher).
When we returned a mere 90 mins later, Perri was putting the finishing touches on our arrangement. When he finally pulled it from behind the counter and presented it to my mom we were all speechless. Surely this was another customer's arrangement - it could not possibly have been done for the price range we specified...but he assured us that it was ours (we still think he made a mistake, or was feeling extra charitable). The man is truly an artist and a gentleman, and his work speaks for itself. The fact that he was able to put something together so quickly on the day before a major holiday, while still maintaining superior quality at an affordable price, was beyond impressive.
I had to sign-up for a Yelp account just to post this review, but Mr. Oshi made it worthwhile. Perri, thanks for your kindness, your help, and your art - my girlfriend's family was equally pleased with the arrangement, which sat centerpiece at the table during the Thanksgiving feast. Hope that your holiday went as well as ours and that this review finds you continued success!
Thanks,
