I ordered Oshen for the first time via UberEats the other day and wow. It was SO GOOD I just had to come and leave a review. Not only was the presentation spectacular with eco friendly packaging, but by far the freshest, beautifully curated rolls I've probably ever eaten, and I eat a lot of sushi. Maybe not the widest variety but that's okay when you have rolls that taste this good. Looking forward to going in person and enjoying the entire experience soon. We have been trying to dine here for awhile. It is always busy. We finally got in and we weren't disappointed. Anthony, the host and one of the owners takes incredible pride in the food, the service and ambiance. Great passion. Sarah was our server and she was awesome. At her recommendation to try the edamame because it was truly unique, we did and it was so good. Very different in a positive way. We got the Pork Bao buns (a little more pork would be good), the Doragon and the Philly Maki. All were delicious. Great spicy mayo and eel sauce. Also liked the presentation. Javier took care of us and this experience was literally the most unexpected surprise! The sushi rivaled the "best" sushi in major cities. This made for a great dinner night out! The decor is modern and spacious, with outdoor seating if you like that. The staff was friendly and attentive. We had wine, then chicken gyoza appetizers, which tasted great. We chose a variety of rolls and nigiri. The fish was fresh and prepared deliciously. Terrific sushi. I enjoyed the nigiri more so than the rolls the fish was very buttery soft. For dessert, we had the chocolate mousse cake which was perfect ( 3 types of chocolate ). Cute place for a little date night. We sat outside. It rained and the staff was great, trying to get us under umbrellas and even gave us a dessert to compensate. Now, as a very basic white girl, the food wasn't it for me. The drinks were!! I loved the non alcoholic yuzu white peach sparkling water. Others raved about the margs. If you are a fish person, this is a great place. I'm not used to the raw fish, they do have a fun presentation for flambéing it in front of you. The edamame (needed salt) and shishito peppers are usually my favorite appetizers, but everything was charred to add a grill smoky flavor. Even my vegetable fried rice had big chunky veggies with a char smoky taste. Personally it wasn't for me, maybe I was having an off day. I would love to be able to say it was expensive because the portions are not huge. But we all know that restaurants prices in the city are what they are. read more

Tried this new Restaurant on Rea Rd last night. Ambience was great. They did a great job of changing the atmosphere. This new restaurant is owned by the Viva chicken group. Waiter was attentive and answered all questions. My friends ordered the Sushi rolls and seemed to enjoy them. I has the Shrimp teriyaki and that's went things South. The shrimp were tiny and after the first bite I could tell they were pre cooked frozen imported shrimp. Very chewy and tasteless. The waiter came by to check on us and I expressed my displeasure. He offered to bring me another but why would I order another?? Overall it was disappointing. I'll go back and try it again since it's a new restaurant. read more

My husband and I had a reservation at 7:15, the place was packed which is always a good sign. We arrived a little early and had a cocktail from one of the servers near the bar, Christian. He grabbed us a drink and cashed us out quickly. We were promptly seated right in time and had the best experience. The spicy salmon tartare was twice the amount of a serving you'd find anywhere else in Charlotte. We ordered so many things, Scallop and salmon Nigiri, Doragon sushi roll, pork belly Bao. The intimate setting was something we appreciated, it made the experience feel more exclusive. Everything was absolutely too notch and at a price you couldn't find anywhere !! Most of all, the service was outstanding. Jimmy was the best server I've had in at least five years. As a career server, I'm hard to please, and he was just the most amazing server. He topped off our Sake throughout the meal, was such a delightful character, greeted us immediately and was just such a lovely accompaniment to the most amazing measles we've ever had. Literally from the moment we walked into the door to the moment we walked out- OUTSTANDING SERVICE from the hostesses, manager, servers. I cannot express enough how accommodating and nice everyone was. We sat at the table behind the hostess stand and did not feel cold or crowded at all, ever. It was actually a perfect seat because we had plenty of space. Atmosphere was exactly what I would expect from a nice Japanese restaurant- soft lighting, bustling service, food presented as it was prepared, and the noise level was perfect for conversation. The drinks were spectacular! We had the mezcal cocktail and the whiskey sour one- both were "oh wow this is SO good" kind of good. The food- I hate that other people had a subpar experience because this was hands down the best sushi/Japanese restaurant I've been to in a long time. I was initially sold on how incredibly reasonably priced the dishes were. Thank god, somewhere nice AND affordable but wow the food was amazing too! We had the edamame (RUN, don't walk for this), spicy tuna tartare, salmon nigiri, beef dumplings, pork belly bao buns, and Doragon roll. Everything was fresh, made to order, and truly delicious.
