The best part of this place was the super welcoming and friendly staff. First impression are every thing and the bartenders and their radiant and beautiful smiles and great energy really set the tone. The place is well lit, plenty of seating, super clean and modern decor with some vintage flair. There is a great menu, plenty of drink options and every thing is served quickly. You have to try the scallion dip! It's amazinggggggg. The night I went they had live music and they have a whole calendar of events all through the year so definitely check them out. read more

Amazing little cafe and event space downtown! Came here for the first time in like a year and was so saddened to see they got rid of most of the food items :( I had the BEST chicken salad croissant last year when I came here. Been here a couple of times now. Once for lunch and once for just some coffee and a cookie. cool interesting thing and a nice addition to the down town bradenton vibe that isn't just a bar. But you can get good beer here! Lunch was good, their version of a cuban is pretty good and the DC sandwich was fresh and flavorful as well. A great place to take a moment en enjoy life. Kind of call this post hipster vibe, but in a good way. Open bright, friendly with some good tasty bits to have. Plus music and other things to attract people to this long empty block of down town. come give them a try, enjoy the vibe, enjoy the coffee, enjoy the beer. This is what downtown really needs to become the new center for fun and interesting bites. read more

Went there because the place we really wanted to go for brunch had a long wait time. As the reviews were stellar we walked there. The avocado toast was delicious, but the price of a very small pumpkin latte is beyond extravagant! Ouch. For that price, you get the super-size at Starbucks. Also, a bit unsure as to what is going on with the split floor and adjoining business. Overall okay, but not impressed. read more

This is a hip little coffee shop. The decor is simple, clean and modern. We ordered two cold brew coffees and some avocado toast. The coffee wasn't my favorite. Not sure of the blend they use but it was a little rough. The avocado toast was phenomenal! The pickled radishes really gave this little breakfast treat a refreshing twist. I wish there was more than a few slices. Customer service was good and the price is a bit high. It took a little while for avocado toast to be made, not sure why but again, it was really tasty. About $20 for two basic iced coffees and avocado toast. Ordered a fresh brewed ice tea to go and it was very strong, almost cloudy in color: not bad, not great. Nice place but they play really loud, upbeat music so early... I think im too old for this place, lol! The avocado toast was the star of this visit. Just an okay place for my personality and taste but good luck to Oscura. Definitely a hip joint to have coffee at. read more

This place is across the street from my office. I'm new to this area so I've been doing a lot of exploring. I've walked past it and made a premature judgement that had kept me away. It is a cool place, so naturally you see tables full of hip looking people that make me assume it's going to be very exclusive and not friendly. Well, I talked myself out of my presumptions and social anxiety and decided to walk over and I am very glad I did. I was greeted by a friendly staff member who asked if it was my first time in and responded with excitement when I told him it was my first time. I told him I wanted caffeine but no sugar and was asking about teas. He suggested I consider a cold brew. I really don't understand cold brews so I inquired and as he was explaining it he got me a sample and told me this would be more caffeinated than any tea they have. I actually enjoyed it and asked if they had any non-dairy milk substitutions. They had almond and oat milk, so I ordered a cold brew with a splash of oat milk. I drank half of it and felt like I had just taken a bunch of pre-work out. He was not kidding, the caffeine was strong. I got a to go cup and was told they hoped to see me again soon. The decor in this spot is super trendy and very Instagram ready, if you're into that kind of a look. read more

I have been riding past Oscura Cafe & Bar since they opened thinking "Hey, that looks like a cool coffee shop!". Well, I've since visited a few times and it truly is a cool coffee shop. So, if it's so cool why only 3-stars. Oscura only gets 3-stars because there is no consistency. If there isn't a particular employee making my drink it's not always the same. I love their turkey and Brie sandwich but their pastries aren't the best (I had a stale croissant). I'd rather come to Oscura to support a local small business owner but everyone knows that our special caffeinated drink must be on point, EVERYTIME! I hope that training continues and business continues to progress and grow to be a town favorite. read more

We chose this venue because of it's location in proximity to the wedding (Baker's Ranch), the price, the menu, and mostly because of the room itself and the views of the sunset over the Manatee River. When we first met with Cindi many months ago, she already knew the time of sunset on March 9. That speaks for itself. We set the end of cocktail hour to coincide with that time, and worked everything backwards from there for the rehearsal. The sun cooperated on the day of the event and everything was magical. We choose an open bar, appetizers, and a menu of about five entrees. The food was all very good, but I wouldn't call it excellent. The mahi-mahi was a tad too done. The brisket was close to excellent. I didn't have the island tacos, but heard they were a hit. The coconut shrimp was perfect. So a mix. Appetizers were generous. We selected "premium level" beer and wine and liquor for the bar. Mostly I was happy with that choice - good beer and liquor, except I felt that the Chardonnay options brought it down a notch. We asked for a slightly better Chardonnay, and the best we could get was still not so great. Wine lovers need a little more value in an event like this, and a better white would help to improve the overall value of the premium selection. The venue and the staff are the reason the rating is high. Cindi was very helpful and accommodating from the time we first met in the fall, but really showed her professionalism on the night of the event. She and her team were friendly and helpful, paying attention to detail and flexible in meeting our needs. Big kudos to the staff!

The only unfortunate part of our visit was the hostess experience. We waited at least five minutes without being greeted, which honestly didn't bother me much. What stood out was that when she finally came over, there was no acknowledgment or apology for the wait. It was my husband, our two kids, and me, and she asked, "Table for two?" When I asked if they had a gluten free menu, she seemed confused and told me I would need to ask our waiter because she was new. Being new is completely understandable, but the annoyed tone throughout the interaction unfortunately left a bad first impression. Thankfully, everything changed once we were seated. We had a great table outside with a beautiful view, and when we opened the menu, we were happy to see that gluten free options were clearly labeled. Then we met Johnny D. What an absolute breath of fresh air! He immediately brought great energy, was incredibly knowledgeable, and took amazing care of us. Our son wanted oysters, and because some oyster facilities may use processing methods that can be a concern for someone with celiac disease, Johnny went above and beyond to find out exactly where the oysters originated so we could feel comfortable ordering them. He gave us great recommendations, stayed on top of everything at our table, and truly made the experience memorable. They have a large outdoor area with a playground for kids and lots of tables. There is a small bar inside, and they are renovating more interior space for additional seating for the hot summer months. The wines are overall pretty tasty. They only grow muscadine grapes on the property and import other grapes from California and elsewhere. They have a selection of drier wines all the way to the sweet fruit wines. They also offer wine sorbets. My husband and I each got a wine flight of 4 wines for $18. I forgot how big the pours were but they were a decent size. They also offer wine tasting experience of 6 wines, smaller pours, that lasts 45 minutes. They have a small section of food. We got the pimento cheese and crackers, the cheese was delicious. They also had popsicles and ice cream, which my kids enjoyed. We got three bottles of wine to take home with us! We love supporting our Florida wineries! Also, our bartender Shelley was fantastic! Oscura has great coffee and a great atmosphere. Perfect for twenty-something's that need a place to get some work done, have a meeting, or post a picture to instagram to look cool. Trivia nights are common throughout the month and are very fun. Definitely the sort of hip place Bradenton needed. read more

Craftails Speakeasy

Unfortunately, this experience went from disappointing to downright concerning…read more I do want to distinguish between the two bartenders working. The younger bartender was nice, pleasant, and welcoming. The older gentleman behind the bar, however, was a completely different experience. He came across as rude and was essentially barking orders at guests about how he would take our orders. For a place positioning itself as an upscale cocktail experience, that attitude set the wrong tone immediately. Unfortunately, the drinks didn't make up for it. My espresso martini was mediocre at best. My friend had the lemon drop, which was equally lackluster. Then came the $30 smoked Old Fashioned, which should have been impressive at that price point but was incredibly disappointing. We were also told they infuse their own vanilla into the vodka. Whatever they're using or doing with it, the end result tasted incredibly cheap --not remotely what I'd expect from a premium cocktail program. Then there's the condition of the place itself. There was a wrapped pipe dripping water onto/near a lounge bench, chipped and peeling paint on the walls, and obvious signs that preventive maintenance is desperately needed. The space simply wasn't aesthetically pleasing or maintained at the level the prices and concept would suggest. But it actually got worse when I went to the bathroom. Part of the ceiling appeared to be falling down, water was actively dripping into a bucket, and there was visible dark growth on the ceiling tile that looked like mold. At that point, my concern went well beyond décor. If you're going for an upscale speakeasy experience take a look at The Doctor's Office. That's the kind of atmosphere, presentation, and attention to detail I associate with this concept. When you're charging $30 for a cocktail, expectations are naturally going to be high. I expect excellent drinks, professional hospitality, and a well-maintained environment. Aside from the younger bartender, who was genuinely pleasant, this experience missed the mark across the board.

Service was awesome too. We got there right when they opened so it was just me and my mom at first and the guy at the bar made it easy and fun. The vibe feels a bit on the fancier side, but it's still chill, a perfect spot for date night or just taking cute photos. No hidden entrance or secret password that we could see and street parking is available. No wait during the day. It's not the cheapest spot, but honestly worth it for the drinks and the aesthetic. I'd love to go back and try more of their craft tails sometime!
