She seated us without our full party present. We were able to get a look at the menu b4 the rest of our party arrived. Our head waiter or manager and server were attentive and accommodating. For apps we had half a dozen oysters, chicken skewers, and duck rolls. Drinks were the Porn star martini (my new fave), a Bellini and margaritas. All delicious. For entrees, we had the crispy duck served with rice & mash, and the sirloin. All very very good. Love is!

Whilst the restaurant is on the more pricier side, the service and trendy atmosphere more than makes up for it. The 23 year old blond hostess was charming and seeing the balloons my friend had gotten me, was quick to congratulate me and start up a conversation on our plans for the evening and what she may recommend. Once we were seated, the waiter came round numerous times to make sure we were doing alright and then we had sufficient drinks and food throughout the night. The food was pretty good, but what really made the restaurant stand out were the drinks. The cocktails they've got are simply delicious. The complimentary chocolate truffles for dessert was just another addition to the remarkable service I received throughout the evening. My only criticism was that despite having joined their loyalty club earlier in the week, after being tempted by triple points on your birthday and a 'welcome gift' online; at the restaurant, the £20 welcome voucher which was supposedly pre-loaded on my card and needs redeeming within 25 days of receiving it could not be used as it needed another 20 hours to be activated. Whilst it was great to receive triple points, its not a restaurant I would go unless there's an occasion to celebrate and with the £20 expring in a few weeks, it was quite the let down that I was unable to use it.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant and fantastic large outdoor dining area which is great on a nice sunny day dining by the canal. The food is always at a high standards and having eaten there several times now I can say I've eaten a lot from the main menu and have never had any problems whatsoever. The staff are attentive, polite and even spark into some friendly conversation which is nice. They have a reasonable lunch time offer for 2 course or three course meals. They also offer pre-theatre menus too. Can't fault the place.

You will find greenery running all upside the walls as well as a fantastic view of the canal. In the evening the ambience inside is also great. Reservations are available but you can usually get in without too much of a wait time. On this occasion I ordered a spinach and mushroom crepe which was fantastic! It's probably my favourite vegetarian dish that they do. It's a sensible portion that leaves you satisfied. For dessert I ordered the praline crepe which was again fantastic. You generally find with dessert crepes that they can do no bad no matter where your buying it from. Cotes crepes are above standard in terms of quality with a light pancake and not overly sweet praline feeling. For me in particular this restaurant shines in the summer. The cocktails are great and the dining experience is unique.

Cafe Rouge has a good number of locations in Birmingham, this is perhaps their most well-known and…read morecentral branch in Birmingham's Bullring, fairly close to the outdoor interchange between New Street and where the two parts of the mall split, close to the church and Starbucks. The store from the outside at certain points looks like you're going into a quiet, deficit building through a dark entrance and heavy door - there is some outdoor seating which is a nice area to sit in the city, however. After a few bad experiences with the Cafe Rouge brand at locations in Newcastle and Salford, I decided to call here after noticing a good brunch deal for £5.95 which included a good selection of items. The decor inside is a little old-fashioned but it can link into the contemporary French decor in parts you'd expect from a French chain restauraunt, from the same "company" who own and run Bella Itallia, one of the country's largest and most common Italian chains. I ordered a gluten-free breakfast, despite not saying "GO" on the menu which they use for items which can be modified to be gluten-free, I was told they could do it without the sausage - I don't know why this wasn't labelled on the menu if it was possible, relying on the guests to ask. My food quality was okay, it wasn't anything special and I did find the mushrooms to be a little slimy rather than seasoned, the bacon to be slightly chewy and fatty but the gluten-free bread was pretty good, the eggs could have been seasoned better but were okay and the beans were good, although a bigger portion of beans than a small pot would have been better. The staff seemed nice enough. A good, central location serving food at prices much lower than nearby competition, with a nice seating area to warrant a three-star rating with the value for money winning an extra star.
