I don't really enjoy giving places of business only three , and had the food or the service met my specific expectations, I probably would have given more. However they didn't, so here is why. I told #SuperHubs that I was craving some good Japanese food, hibachi style. We have been to quite a few of them in Greensboro, so we decided to drive toward Burlington and see what we can see. On the way, I grabbed my iPhone and opened my trusty Yelp app. It led me to this little place, and I had already noticed that it had only received three stars, but the other Japanese restaurants that we frequent also received three stars, and I did not agree with those. So, I thought we would give it a try anyway. From the pictures posted, I could not really tell much about the restaurant itself. I was really hoping for a table style grill where I can watch them cook the food, because then I would know it was cooked fresh. However, that is not what we saw when we walked in. As soon as you walk inside the door, you place your order at the bar, and then find a seat in the main dining room. So, I guess you would call this Japanese express. Or maybe Japanese fast food? I have no idea, but I do know it was not what I thought. The only reason I'm saying this in this review is so that if anyone is wondering what kind of restaurant this is, it is NOT where you sit around a big table with strangers and have your food cooked in front of you. Now, about the food. I gave the grill style table, or lack there of, a pass hoping the food would meet my expectations. When the salad came out it was brown-ish lettuce with a few strings of carrot in it. The ginger dressing that I ordered looked like mashed up carrot baby food. And it tasted bitter. I ordered the steak and chicken combo so #SuperHubs and I could share. The steak was not tender but very chewy. The chicken was well seasoned and had a good grilled flavor to it, but several pieces were charred on the edges. It did come with broccoli and mushrooms that were sautéed tastily. And the rice and white sauce was really good. The place was neat and clean. I could tell it was well sanitized. The staff was masked and gloved up, as well as being very friendly. But they did not return to the table to ask about refills or about our experience. All in all, we probably would not try this place again. read more

Everything I got today was better than what Yelp led me to believe this meal would be. Large portions , great white sauce and expected flavors made this for a positive dining experience. I stopped by on a Tuesday night while on the road for work. Sat in a quiet dining room and enjoyed my meal. Great local place with friendly people and fresh Japanese food. It is almost never crowded so sometimes I wonder how they stay open but I am glad they are here. Our family of six can eat dinner here for under $50 with leftovers to take home. My kids favorite part is that they bring your choice of sauces (white, ginger, etc) in bottles... no sauce stinginess here! Not much variety on the menu but that is a refreshing change over typical Asian places to eat. Food is always good and seems to be fresh. It won't blow you away but for the price & convenience, I cant complain. Most of the negative reviews i have seen seem to involve takeout which we have never done here. I picked up a to-go order for some Hibachi Chicken along with an order of their gyoza. The chicken was very good, it's cooked with mushrooms and served with fried rice, vegetables and noodles. There was also a choice of salad or soup, I chose the salad with ginger dressing, the salad was just lettuce with one tiny piece of carrot, nothing exciting there, but the hibachi plate and the gyoza were both great as were their ginger and mustad sauces. read more

worst hibachi i've ever had, i ordered a steak hibachi with no mushroom and no onions with squash. i received well done steak but i asked for medium well steak, 95% of the steak bits had all fat on the pieces. squash is absolutely flavorless, the rice is undercooked and the icing on the f***ing cake is that i found not one but two long black wavy hairs in my rice. embarrassing, disgusting, and dissatisfied. will never eat at osaka again and i recommend no one else ever eat from them again as well. read more

I felt the need to write a review because we order takeout from this place all the time and I really like it! I was surprised to see such negative reviews. The only thing that I can complain about is that I called before 9pm one time to place a to-go order and they said they had closed early. I was disappointed but it didn't stop me from going back. The food is well seasoned and they give you large portions. The sauces are just right and they don't charge you for extras. I wish they had a spicy mustard sauce but I'll live. I haven't found another Japanese restaurant in the area that meets my standards. Most are pretty bland, don't give you enough food or are too far. We tried the hibachi chicken, steak and shrimp. Our friends from Charlotte really enjoyed the teriyaki as well (and they are Asian!). The noodles, I agree, could be left off. I never eat them. read more

Before I begin, I should note that I've only gotten their lunch take-outs. In other words, I can't really speak much for the service. The food on the other hand is OK. With the lunch special you get your choice of hibachi meat (or vegetables), fried rice, noodles, and side hibachi vegetables with a salad. Every time I've gone, I ordered the hibachi chicken. The lunch portions are appropriate and very filling and sometimes I even have leftovers. The hibachi chicken, fried rice, and vegetables were all really good. However, the noodles are nothing more than spaghetti cooked with soy sauce and stir-fried. The salad is a little lacking but that's not too much of a big deal. They have also recently added appetizers like dumplings. So, overall, this is a good place for take-out. read more

Sadly, this is not going to be a positive review. I really had high hopes for one of the only restaurants in this area, but we've now had two bad experiences with food, and won't be returning for overpriced underwhelming food again. The first time we waited 40 mins for take out, only to be told that they gave our food to someone else. Instead of being proactive, they waited for me to come back in to ask me if I wanted it remade?!.... Um, of course I do, I already paid for it and have been here the better part of an hour. No apology, no compensation, nothing. The food LOOKED great. A few bites in I realized it was a waste of time after all. The rice was mush and had no seasoning or flavor. The chicken was obliterated it was so over cooked. It was essentially inedible. The noodles, like the rice, were mushy and unseasoned. The veggies were also bland and overbooked. My husband got the steak, while it was slightly better, it was still far best well done even though it was ordered MR. We gave them another chance hoping that these were rookie mistakes that would be corrected with time. It was same experience, with an even longer wait time. The prices compare to that of sit down, quality Japanese steakhouses in Gso, yet the food can't even be compared to that of one of the many Japanese express restaurants around. read more

Tonight was my and my husband's third trip here. Wasn't wowed by first two visits but our adult daughter wanted us to meet her there tonight. There were four of us, but others who came in quite awhile after we ordered were served their foods first. When our food finally came, my husband's hibachi chicken plate was cold. The waitress checked with owner and his answer was he would recook the same food. No thank you. This was our last time patronizing this restaurant. Since moving from Greensboro, which isn't far away at all, we have been trying out thebasian restaurants around our area we live in. Osaka popped up and didn't have such great reviews, and they were all from quite some time ago. The reviews we read were all the same, lack of taste in food, long waits for food etc. we didn't want to base our visit based on someone else's opinion so we tried it out. Service was great, portions were great but the food not so much. Soup had a odd taste to it like it lacked seasoning and had burnt ingredients in it. I ordered the flounder and my wife ordered chicken and steak. The rice did not seem to have any taste what so ever, the quality of the rice was almost under cooked. Flounder however was ok, you can tell it was a bit old and a due to the lack of flakey consistency you would usually get..The noodles were bland and everything just didn't seem to have any taste to it. My wife said the same thing but the steak was good..I gave this a 3 star rating because of the good service, the sauces they make are really good and the portion sizes are good...I will probably not be coming back here..they need to hire either better cooks or get more training. read more

Customer service is poor. Person working evenings with the pink in hair at the front was rude from the start. Kept complaining about incoming to go orders gave a bad vibe to me, my son, and bf. locked the doors at 8:30 when the place closes at 9pm. Our server was great I can't remember her name (long blonde hair). If it's your first time going there you obviously won't know you have to seat yourself. I have never thought I would write a bad review about a restaurant, but this place has done it. From the food, the service and decor or lack there of, it was terrible. The food was bland and not made well. The supposed Asian noodles were nothing more than store bought spaghetti with a bit of soy sauce. The salad was nothing more than iceberg lettuce with bad dressing. I understand that they just opened, but they have a lot to work on. Our waitress was so bad that the other waitress working, came up and apologized even though we did not complain. Take out customers So I saw the mediocre reviews and thought everyone has bad days. Don't think it's just a day. I ordered Habachi chicken, Habachi scallops and Habachi steak. The meal was $36. I thought that was a bit much for rice and meat that was not flavored three boxed of iceberg lettuce that was called a salad and vegetable broth called soup. I was very disappointed but it says slot when your teenage son is disappointed because they eat and like ANYTHING. If they don't kick it up not sure how they are gonna make it. Ever since we first tried the restaurant, it's become my brothers favorite spot. I like it as well. The food that I get is the same every time which is hibachi chicken and shrimp. My food always comes out perfectly and the meat is always cooked the way I like it. I am a big fan of the rice and always get happy to come here and get some. I always get extra vegetables because I like them so much. The restaurant is smaller but every time we come in; we always get a table. The employees are pretty laid back, but they should probably smile more when serving to be more friendly. The prices are good, and their portions are really big, enough for lunch for the next day. The soup is also really good, we always get two instead of a salad. Overall, I would say that this restaurant is pretty good. I haven't tried anything else on the menu except for hibachi but from the looks of it, the other items on the menu are good. My mom really likes the salmon. Ordered takeout, after a long wait got home poured sauces on food, the hot mustard sauce was sour, turned my stomach had to spit it out. Called Osaka and informed them that they needed to pull the sauces as it was bad, they didn't sound concerned and I wanted the to remake our food, and told them I could bring back my food and sauce so the could see it, I was told they were closed and they would give me 10% off my next order because the food was cooked properly and only the sauce was bad, I explained that the sauce was poured on the food therefore ruining the food, again I didn't want a refund just our food remade, needless to say they have lost our business and I would caution anyone eating there to check your food and your sauces. read more

The salad was great. Not watery or wilted at all. The ginger dressing was actually one of the better ones we have tried. The soup was good also. I had chicken and shrimp hibachi. It was a lot of food. It came with noodles, veggies, and rice. The chicken was pretty plain, but that's what soy, ginger, and white sauces are for, right? The shrimp and everything else was delicious. We had plenty of leftovers. It was a clean restaurant. We will get take out from here in the future. read more
