I dropped in to get a sandwich today and my first shock was seeing the behind-the-counter kid helping me touch everything with the gloves that he was going to use to make my sandwich: his face, his pockets, a pen, a clipboard, a scale. I asked him to change his gloves. He did. Then he proceeded to set the clipboard down on the sandwich making cutting board, run his newly gloved hand across the paper, grab a pen, and touch a dirty wall on his way to get the meat. The best was yet to come. He grabs the ham, and goes to the meat slicer, already with some salami on it, sets the ham down on the side of the counter where there is roast beef that had been sitting there since I walked up, removes the salami and sets that aside on another counter. And here is the worst part. He disappears into the back, brings out a literal small bucket of water, pulls out a dirty cloth from it that's been used for who knows what, wrings the water out back into the bucket, then uses the cloth to wipe off the meat slicer where he then sets down the ham.... he then throws the filthy rag back into the bucket--presumably to be used again... wherever else it's needed. At that point, I said, "changed my mind" & walked away. If you want to get sick, get your lunch here.

The liquor store is attached. Great variety inside, but definitely a pretty penny-- but what do you expect in mountain town and I'll say it again... it's on a ski hill! They've got it fully stocked and even have cute kid carts for your little shoppers. It's large enough to be a grocery store similar to a Trader Joe's size elsewhere and does the job.

There are a few food stands that serve fresh food, flower stands, local food stands, etc. I recommend getting there early for produce if you want to grab before they sell out. Parking around is $1.50 for an hour. You might be able to snag a spot when someone is leaving who can pass over their little parking pass. Lots of tickets out yesterday on cars who didn't pay, so don't get caught in that mess.
