It was hard enough scheduling an MRI for my thigh, they're not returning my telephone calls, I can't log onto their portal as I needed to have my phone number changed, the MRI was sent to their Ocala, FL office about a week ago have heard nothing and I'm trying to fill out a form to see one of their MD's, but it's booby trapped... redlined with nonsense, can't send, just tried calling, no answer. They must be insane? I changed my number with them, this guy, yikes, they don't know what they're doing. I was able to log on to the patient portal. Omg... I made my copayment of $40.00 when I was at their Gainesville office, but the website says I owe it to them! The Orthopedic Institute in Summerfield, FL, may have competent doctors, but the receptionists/staff are incompetent, uncaring, and unprofessional. Because of them, I missed my appointment and was unable to reschedule "without the permission of the doctor," who had left early "because there were no patients scheduled". There was mine! Long story short. Knee injury. Had cortisone injection. Reaction to the injection was not good. No way to communicate with them thru the so-called patient portal. Tried making another appointment MANY times. You just cannot reach ANYONE there. Tried to call Dr. Key's office directly but they don't answer. Their main switch board person sends me to the same individual who doesn't answer. The whole "institute" is just pitiful. At the #250 West Marion Hospital 4600 SW 46th Ct, Suite#250, Ocala FL 34474.I asked Dr. ViJay Babu's medical assistant who was tall with blonde hair in a bun for copy of a form I needed for work. The Medical assistant refused to give it to me. I asked to speak to an Office Manager, and she stated she was the office Manager and yelled, disrepected me and berated me so loud my driver who was waiting for me in the lobby waiting area, stated she heard the medical assistant yelling at me. I was not in any way trying to be confrontational however she was very aggressive and rude and loud. I felt very humiliated. I spoke to another medical staff member and requested to speak to the Official Manager where the actual one arrived. I finally spoke to the actual office Manager, and she printed out a copy of my form I needed for work. The actual doctor was amazing and very professional. The medical assistant needs to be trained on professionalism and not to be disrespectful to patients who had just undergone a procedure. read more

I don't know how to even begin to list my complaints with this institution. The number of red flags keeps going. I just filed a grievance with my healthcare provider today 10/29/2025 given the abuse I have suffered with the Orthopedics institute after a 3rd party conference call between all of us. My healthcare provider is completely in tune with me filing a lawsuit against this organization and is willing to testify to the negligence I have received from the orthopedic institute and has personally advised me to seek immediate health care at another facility. Only one shoulder surgeon who did not show. What a joke, that is twice he was a no show

Do not have therapy at the Orthopaedic Institute. Find a clinic where the therapist works with you the entire time. At the Orthopaedic Institute, only 20 minutes was spent with a therapist. I was charged for the full hour, but the therapist saw 3 patients during that time. I saw a different therapist every time, so time was wasted when I had to explain things again. After the therapist, I was sent to do exercises on my own. One time the exercise station wasn't set up right and by the time I figured this out on my own, my time was up. Staying on schedule seemed to be the priority. I changed to a clinic where I saw the same therapist for the full hour each time and where I got help doing the exercises the right way. read more

Dr. Goldstein cannot keep an appt. My first appt I waited for 2 hours after the scheduled time. The follow up after my surgery I waited almost an hour after my appt time. It's frustrating, as a professional, when other professionals cannot meet scheduled times. I cannot recommend this doctor or this practice if you value your time. I've had a better experience with the Gainesville location but unfortunately they did not have a doctor with the specialty I needed. I will ot come back to Ocala TOI. read more

I am a military veteran if 31 years and have tricare health insurance for my spouse. Based on the total humiliation she experienced this morning at the Summerfield office, I suggest that all veterans and their spouses find a different organization. These people kept insisting that she did not have any active insurance and that she pay and upfront amount. This office cares more about the money than the patient and especially military spouses. After spending hours on the phone trying to straighten this out, I was informed by one of the scheduling staff that my wife's health insurance policys are active and that information was available at time of her appointment. We have left numerous messages on the voice mail of management and no return Phone Calls. I am asking ALL veterans and their spouses to boycott this organization. read more

Dr. Rogers did my hip replacement and it went fine. I have had other treatment from other doctors in this group and they have all been wonderful. I never had a problem with any of the staff. My husband also had surgery by Dr. Rogers and his recovery was excellent. I would recommend these doctors any time. read more

Save your time and go to an orthepedic office that carea about you. I saw Dr Goldstein and he seemed nice and knowledgeable, but his staff is awful. They don't care about you, assisting you or calling you back. YOU are NOT important to them. I was called by his surgery scheduling staff and asked to return their call. I called back within the hour and never received a call back. I tried 3 times that day and 4 times the next day. I received a call back only after telling them I would call the VA and complain about treatment. I was told during this call that they only schedule on Wednesday and Fridays. I was assured I would get a call the next day - which was Friday. On Friday I call after 11 am as I had not received a call yet. I called 3 more times (for a total of 4 times that day). I again threatened to complain on the 4th time. After the 4th time, I got a call back. I was told the scheduler had left early and she would call me back on Wednesday. I told them not happy, but would wait. NO CALL ON WEDNESDAY. This staff does NOT care about the doctor's patients. We are not important so therefore do not deserve any consideration or help from them. I have called the VA and complained and asked to be sent to another doctor. I will NOT be treated as not worthy of being respected by them. Their lack of respect is disgraceful. read more

My doctor that did my surgery is amazing. However, I tried calling the after hours number the day after my ankle surgery and was crying because I was in pain. I was told to take Tylenol and Motrin.. which i already was.. and otherwise to call back Monday. So yesterday at 8am, I called and spoke with my provider's secretary about almost being out of pain medication due to having to take it more frequently, every 4 hours in stead of every 6 hours. I ask for her to talk with provider to request a refill of my pain medication so I could take every 4 hours. She said she would speak to him and call me back. By 2pm I still hadn't heard anything so I called and got her VM so I left a message. No response at all Monday. Again, this am o called and got the VM again so I left her a message . It's 330pm now and I still have not had a call back. I decided to call again and went to VM again. I called back asking y speak with anyone else and was told she is it. I have had 4 major surgery's back in MD and even worked as a RN in a surgical office and never received or witnessed this kind of treatment or lack there of. If I called my surgeon about pain, they were calling to check on me within the hour and if I had a patient calling about neeeding a refill of pain medication or pain issues at my office, I got up immediately and let my doctors know so they could take care of asap. I've heard nothing but silence for the last two days and which is highly disappointing since I really like my doctor. read more

Dr. Rogers saw me the very first time to go over x-rays that were taken at his practice. He explained to me what was wrong and he gave me a steroid injection. I was in lot of pain and he prescribed a medication that I was not able to tolerate. A few weeks went by and I was called in the office by his p.a. who said after reviewing my x-rays saw that it was in a different location in my shoulder. She administered another injection in a different location in the arm. That did not last long and then the pain returned. I knew I had to wait 3 months to receive another injection. My insurance sent them an approval and I called several times and they advised that it was never received. Between my primary care physician and my insurance a total of 3 were sent to that office. I called the office manager and left a message that I was very upset how Danni ,Dr.Rogers scheduling assistant was being very unprofessional and was actually telling me she didn't receive the referral when she actually did. The only reason I found this out was that I had called their billing department on a different matter and they told me when it was received. I then called Danni back and she accused me of talking abusive to her and that I would be receiving a letter from the office manager that I would no longer be welcome to see any of the doctors. I have never been treated this way. She was totally disrespectful and so was the office manager for not calling me back. I am sure Danni has been rude and disrespectful to other patients as well. I went here back in 2011 for elbow pain and again in 2018 for my other elbow and recieved prolotherapy injections which helped immensely . Fast forward to today ... xrays taken, 2 different people seen, only to be told by Dr. Wilt that they can't get dextrose solution even though they are still trying. Why couldn't anybody tell me that when I made the appointment, after arriving, or during the entire process where I told them what I was there for? Dr. Wilt said that they could do PRP therapy and it was $575, or they could give me a steroid injection. I was not happy about the whole process and the lack of professionalism. I left without having anything done to help me. I will no longer refer people to go here. It was good the previous two times, 2011 and 2018, but the Dr who treated me those times has since left. How can a big medical facility like this not be able to get dextrose solution? read more

Dr. Jason Key is an excellent physician. He sent me to get 2 MRI's to study my case, from 2 falls. Knowing I had to wait 5 days for results, he immediately called me at home in the afternoon to give me comforting advice. I am so happy he didn't leave me lingering the weekend, plus 2days, for results. Dr Key is excellent in his field, and I want to thank him for being so thorough and considerate to his patient. read more

Dr Locker replaced a hip for my wife. We had to wait 60 days with my wife in pain while they got approvals done through the insurance carrier. We then paid our portion before any surgery would be scheduled. The surgery went well, Lockers PA Tyler did a great job with getting some minor post op things cleaned up. Dr Lockers billing dept is a massive disappointment, these people have no idea how to do their work or an ounce of professional pride. The surgery costs pushed us over the max amount to be paid and we are owed about $1300 back., it has been 6 months and these people have done nothing purposeful yet. They blame anyone they can and try to defend 6 months, so far and still counting of bad work as not their fault. This was all agreed up front they would do no surgery until insurance carrier was on board no matter how much pain my wife was in. She'd just have to wait. Based on the assembly line process and really just being viewed as $ vs a person I would not recommend this group at all. The office staff is an extension of the organization and seems to control when work will be done. These people are just horrible at their job and could not care less about the patient or doing anything correctly. 6 months and counting for a billing dispute is what they are standing on. Anyone anywhere could do better. All that is needed is professional pride. read more

I was treated by Dr. McFadden (he operated on 8 broken bones in my foot) and he is an excellent doctor. Best bedside manner I have ever seen. He is friendly, patient, and articulate. His reputation at Ocala Medical Center is outstanding (from what I have been told by other doctors and nurses there). Would highly recommend. read more

I was lucky enough to be able to have a total knee replacement during the covid epidemic. Many people had to have their surgeries canceled more than once. The visits before and after surgery required less than five minutes wait time to see the doctor. Dr.Rogers once again provided excellent surgical skills and always makes sure any questions I might have are answered. Dr. Rogers deserves 5 stars. Walking into the office requires masks and temperature checks, I found these easy requirements to meet. The reason for the three stars was the physical therapy dept. This was my second knee replacement (left than right) within the year. My first pt experience was completely different and was pre covid. The therapist constantly cleaned . They would wipe the machines, the tables, benches and every piece of equipment. I did not expect there to be a problem with cleanliness during the covid pandemic. Unfortunately I was wrong. My first visit was approximately 50 minutes long and there were about five other patients besides myself and three therapists. No one wiped down anything the entire time I was there. The same bike was used by two different patients and the handles were not disinfected at all the entire time I was there. Handheld equipment was handed to patients and put back in storage unit after use without disinfectant. I did see a bottle of disinfectant prominently displayed. It was never utilized. I assumed this would be a safer place and was sadly and soundly disappointed. I would give the therapy dept. one star. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Goldstein after hearing about him early this year for a broken ankle. He has done great work and the ankle is healing very well. Even though his office is an hour drive to get there from my house It is well worth the trip and recommend him highly. read more

The Orthopaedic Institute(TOI) in Ocala is a bit of a mess. They normally answer phone calls after 8 rings, I guess they want you to think they are closed. I was told in October that my hip was worn out and I could get a replacement. I was told that I would have to quit smoking for 6 weeks before the surgery. This would put the surgery right around Christmas and 6-8 weeks of recovery would be in a bad time of year to be out of work. I decided to post pone until after April 15th. All elective surgery was halted until June, due to the pandemic. I called around the middle of May to schedule. I was never called backed and I called after two weeks. The girl forgot to schedule it. It got scheduled. I got approval from my GP MD and my Cardio MD. 3 days before the surgery I got a call from TOI and they told me I had to lose 40 pounds. This was do-able if I knew in October, but impossible 3 days before surgery. I'm going to lose the weight. But I won't be going back to TOI. read more

I really wish I could give 0 stars because that is the equivalent of how much they helped. My wife went in because the ER told her she needed MRIs of her elbow, which they couldn't do at the ER. The orthopedic doctor did nothing but some strength tests with her hand before saying "I know what's going on, and there is obviously inflammation. However, I don't know what to tell you. Go find a neurologist and see if they will prescribe pain meds, and wear a compression sleeve." She didn't refer a neurologist, didn't even prescribe ibuprofen for the inflammation that she admitted was there. Left us with a bill and absolutely nothing else. Will be pursuing legal action. My wife is in 24 hour pain and tears, and got zero help. STAY AWAY!!! read more
