I will NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. My son is disabled and they threatened to call the police on him when he was returning my brace. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE A DISABILITY. Improper fit for a $200.00 knee brace that slid to my ankle and became a trip hazard. Went back the next day with the brace and a letter. I asked my son to bring it inside because my torn Miniscus was burning. They would not take it, wouldn't let him leave it, called it " his trash", threatened to call the police. He ran out of there. The bag with the brace had a letter in it from me. I told my son to throw it on the sidewalk in front of the clinic. I was in severe pain and didn't drive 30 minutes for this. I had already found one I got 18 months ago in Blacksburg. It stays up. They changed my Ortho Doctor appointment to that I had in 4 days to March. It has been two weeks of excruciating pain already. The Diclofenac pills that the physician assistant ordered do NOTHING. It hurts worse. Inconsistent care quality. I had made a plan with the Ortho Virginia knee department to go to Ortho On Call first and the see a real doctor in a few days. They pushed my appointment back 2 1/2 weeks! I changed it back to the same day myself. Useless. read more

We have three teens and two of them are active in sports. For one visit here, we had a doctor who was fine and thorough. On our second needed visit, recently with our daughter with a sports injury, we had to see a physicians assistant. In short, she was worthless. We were asking fairly simple and obvious questions about the injury, treatment and recovery times. She told us she doesn't sit around reading studies all the time. Then told us we could look up information at home on Google. Then told us that everybody knows you will need to schedule an appointment with a doctor in a few weeks and maybe he can answer your questions. We almost asked to speak with a doc on site but had a feeling it would have been refused. This visit was worthless and it makes me mad that we have to pay for such inferior and unprofessional treatment. The first visit we had was much better. The second one last week would make us not return. read more

Walked in and was immediately asked to go to another location. No warm welcome or apology. When asked about the wait she said she couldn't give an estimate time as they are walk-in almost with an attitude. I asked if it made a difference if I had registered online and she gave attitude no. I was seen last week at Ortho on Call at Westbury in Henrico. Everyone was very helpful and professional. I was seen in a timely manner for possible fracture. Everyone from X-ray to front desk to PA were wonderful. Although X-ray did not show obvious fracture,she wanted me to get an MRI to be sure. They set up all the appointments. She went above and beyond. I highly recommend. read more

I had an emergency the day after Thanksgiving. The Midlothian office of Ortho-On-Call was taking walk ins without an appt. It was very crowded but I was told they had 2 specialists on hand and that I would be seen. They were able to take X-rays there. The PA, Ms. Saddington was amazing. She was able to tap into my surgeon's files from OrthoVirginia and explain why I was experiencing pain. She explained everything she was going to do and allowed for questions from me without feeling rushed. Everyone in the office were very nice and helpful. (There were 15 people ahead of me when I arrived, I was out in 2 hours) So much better than sitting in the Emergency room for 4-5 hours. I highly recommend this office. read more

Should be ZERO stars! My first and last time ever! I should have read the reviews on here first. I figured I would get better and quicker care coming here instead of the emergency room. I thought since they specialize, this would be a better option. Big Mistake. I arrived on a Sunday barely able to walk due acute knee issues. No one offered assistance or even a wheelchair. I could barely walk from the pain. A family member helped escort me to the exam room. Once in the exam room, the medical assistant/tech was asked is it their practice to make patients walk when they are in pain and not offer a wheelchair. The assistant said they have a wheelchair and went and brought me one. Then, the x-ray tech took x-rays and did not offer assistance with standing and I noticed a walker by the wall and I grabbed it on my own to be able to stand up. When Physician Assistant came in to exam room, I was informed that my x-rays were "completely normal." I could not believe my x-rays were "completely normal" due to the severity of swelling and pain. She offered to draw the fluid out of my knees then inject cortisone. This did not make any sense if my x-rays were "completely normal." I questioned this as did my family member. We asked to see the x-rays. I could see the fluid build-up and I asked her, "So you can't see anything in those x-rays?" She said I had some arthritis and calcium and significant swelling in both knees. My family member questioned her as to "what do you consider to be a normal x-ray...?" I asked for a copy of my x-rays to take to my PCP. When I took the CD they gave me with my name and x-rays on it to my Doctor, it was BLANK. The PA would not prescribe anything for pain. She told me, "we just don't prescribe them here." She offered nothing, not even ibuprofen. My family member complained to the PA about her lack and staff's lack of empathy or compassion. The PA made an excuse and said they were too busy and had a lot of Patients that day. My family member informed her we are both Nurses and the PA said, "Well, ya'll are Nurses and you should understand how busy it gets!" My family member replied, "that's no excuse for lack of compassion." The PA said she was right and "to enjoy the rest of your day." I checked the insurance claim against my receipt for my co-pay and this office charged me $40 when my co-pay was only $20. I called the Ortho Billing Dept to discuss this and no one answered. I had to leave a voicemail for a call-back and I haven't received one yet. I think the experience here will surely vary depending on which Provider you get and the rest of the treating staff. This was a horrible experience and I will never recommend this place to anyone. read more

i had my doubts going into this visit. I go in experiencing horrific sciatica pain when trying to stand and walk. The check-in representatives offered a wheelchair to bring me back. The check-in representative was nice. The x-ray. Technicians were nice. The physician or NP showed no empathy and made a remark to collect my self after being examined and in pain. She offered a walker, physical therapy and a change in muscle relaxer. When I inquired about going to the ER, the provider said there would be no benefit. The physician or NP then left the room to send in a discharge person who gave me discharge instructions and the left the room. No one offered to roll me out in the wheelchair I was sitting in. The staff just watched me leave hunched over and in pain. How they treated me at the end was so inhumane. I do believe in karma. read more

Arrived last night with my daughter who ended up having a broken foot. We were treated so well by the staff. Everyone was so good to her and got us seen as quickly as they could without us feeling rushed. The precautions in place for COVID-19 were well done and we went home with a boot, crutches and a follow up appointment. Wonderful alternative to sitting in an ER, especially right now. read more

I took my 2.5 year old son to Ortho On-Call after he tripped and presumably sprained his right foot. The front desk staff were helpful, there was a tidy kids' corner with books and toys, and our wait wasn't long at all. (It was midday on a Monday.) The PA that we saw (Mr. Harlan, I believe was his name) was calm, approachable, and spoke directly to my son in a way that I believe helped my son feel comfortable and at ease. He was very thorough and listened to all my questions and concerns; I never felt rushed. Bonus: there were fun X-ray pictures (an ice skate, some household items) decorating the exam room walls, which gave my son and I something to chat about to help keep him distracted. read more

I cannot begin to explain how infuriating this establishment and it's employees are. The receptionist was nice, I'll say that much. The x-ray technician was obviously not experienced in patient care, forcing me to stand on my injured leg for 10 minutes when I could barely stand for 1. She was cold and overall unprofessional. I sat in the lobby for 2 hours waiting to be seen and then sat for a subsequent 2 hours in the back waiting for the Dr. On my return, to recieve an all clear for work, I once again had to sit, waiting, in a patient room for 2 hours before being seen. There was only one other person being seen at the time mind you. By far this is the worst orthopedic establishment I've ever had the displeasure of coming to. Next time folks, go to an actual orthopedic office with employees who are experienced in patient care! read more

First off...the person that did the intake for me was very nice so I will give them that. However, the visit itself was nothing special and I felt like I was just being pushed through with the PA. I had xrays taken for a finger injury....not broken....so was told to keep it in a splint. PA mentioned it looked like mallet finger and went on to explain that the tendon on the top part of my finger knuckle had been pulled or torn. The splint would do the trick. I was given a hand our with hand exercises geared toward carpel tunnel so that did me no good. I sent my insurance paper work in for completion because I have an accident policy which will reimburse me for my charges. I sent a self addressed envelope with the forms and requested that they sign and return. I received a call from the office stating that what I had written on the form was not the diagnosis (they did not write Mallet Finger in the chart). I said that what the PA mentioned but that was fine....to make any adjustments and sign the form because I needed to return it to my insurance company. I was then told they couldn't complete the form because I was supposed to have gone to a "specialist". I was never told I needed to follow up with a specialist. I thought I was at an ORTHO!! After much back and forth, they agreed to sign the form but told me they couldn't mail it back to me because there was a fee and then transferred me to the front office for the amount. I was then informed it would be a $25 charge for them to, essentially, sign the form that I had already completed!! What a rip off!! Definitely not geared to helping their patients...that's for sure!! Certainly not patient friendly when you can't get an insurance form signed!! Wish I had read all of these poor reviews before I went in for a visit. Never again!! read more

I have been a client of Advanced Ortho/Ortho VA for over 20 years. I had been having knee pain for several weeks. I decided to give the Ortho On Call a try since I could not get into my doctor anytime soon. I have to say I was super impressed with the PA, Anshuma Pal. She gave me a Thorough exam and sugessted a cortisone injection since my knee was swollen and painful. I also work on my feet and I just could not suffer any longer. I appreciate the great care that I got today and will be back on my feet at work tomorrow! read more

0 Stars! ...I absolutely should have gone to Patient First. After two hours, an X-ray and $60 copay I was sent away with a prescription and an ace bandage. At least at Patient 1st they can either fill the prescription or send it electronically to your pharmacy. Now I get to spend even more time delivering and waiting for the prescription. Also he suggested a sleeve or brace which I could get at a store. Which store? WalMart? Medical supply? The nurse offered to google it for me... really?!?!?!? read more

I took my son to the Westchester location in Oct 2020 for shoulder pain. He is a baseball play and hurt his arm throwing. He say Katheryn and we explained that he probably overused it throwing extensively this past summer. We waited a couple of weeks with ice/heat to see if it would get better. Two weeks later, when it didn't, we took him to get it xrayed. Her attending notes made it sound like this was an injury that he had dealing with for a long time with no specific reason. Well, we talked quite a while about overusing it this past summer due to not having a lot of other things to do because of the COVID. None of that was in the notes. She said she asked my son if he knew how he hurt it and she actually lied and said he said he didn't know. Outright lie. Will never attend this location in the future!!! Took my son to Ortho on Call at Westchester. It was 8:30 pm on a Weds night. There was no Orthopedist MD on duty. Instead we saw a nurse practitioner. This guy was completely unqualified to be the medical doctor in charge. He couldn't figure out what might be wrong with my healthy 12 year old son's ankle/leg. He was indicating he might have a blood clot or compartment syndrome. We went from 0 mph to 100 in 30 seconds. He said we needed to take our son to the emergency room immediately. So we did. The ER doctor indicated that his calf was very soft and absolutely would not evaluate him for compartment syndrome. The ER doctor also said if a otherwise healthy, active 12 year old had a blood clot in the leg we better take a picture of him because that doesn't happen. They performed an ultra sound on his leg and ruled out blood clot. After more X-rays and $100s of dollars later he was sent home on crutches with a splint. Diagnosis was sprained ankle with possible stress fracture I will never go to Ortho on Call again. I believe they have incompetent staff and took extreme measures that had little to no relevance for my son. Based upon my experience they are trying to cut costs and do not always have the properly trained and experienced staff on duty. One final note, I also felt they were rushing us out the door because it was closing time. They refused to see a patient that came in and were literally turning off the lights and locking the door behind us Never again! read more

There is definitely an issue with wait times in the lobby, even with almost no one being seen. But worse are the ridiculous and disrespectful hold times. As I type this, I have been on hold for over 34 minutes simply trying to find out the status of a prescription-- that THEY screwed up in the first place. Unbelievable. They are in no way customer/patient focused. Go someplace-- ANYPLACE-- else. UPDATE: After 37 minutes, I called back from another phone while I remained on hold in the original call. The receptionist who answered had to go back to "talk to the tech." When she returned, she informed me "the tech wasn't really sure how to use the phone but that she had tried to pick it up." Wow. Many of the people working here are kind and considerate. But when it came to the NP who provided my care, wow, did things change. First of all, he sashayed into the facility without a mask. The receptionist had to chase him down with a mask to wear. He then walked around the service area for about five minutes without his mask. (The door was open so I saw him.) My luck, he comes into the examining room, now wearing a mask. He sent me over to X-ray (good experience). After waiting for results, he comes in and says "Nothing here." I asked, "What about the gash on my leg?" "Sorry can't help you with that," instructing me to see my PCP. He didn't bring in the X-rays for me to see claiming he was very busy, which is true as the place was packed. Only I waited for over two hours for my turn and didn't expect to be hustled out the door especially not seeing the X-rays for myself. So, I made sure (THREE times asking) that he would send them to my PCP who would now examine the gash on my leg. You guessed it, when I got to my PCP the next day, no X-rays for him to look at. This visit was a disappointment as I had been there before when they were located on Busy Street and had received excellent, professional attention. The guy providing medical services [sic] to me not only did me a disservice, but does a disservice the entire business. Not likely to ever go to this place again. read more

Saw Dr. Benson at this site for a diagnosis of a painful, swollen big toe. He thoroughly reviewed my X-ray with me and was attentive to all my questions. We came up with a plan of care. It was a very busy morning so I was not surprised to have waited an hour to be seen. The X-ray technician was pleasant and efficient. The staff were cordial. Glad I went there instead of a traditional ER. read more

I visited this location because I injured my foot from running. The Nurse Practitioner took only a FEW rushed minutes to diagnose the problem without ruling out other possible causes, such as a fracture. If he had the proper training, he would have known that this could be a possibility since fractures do not typically show up on Xrays immediately after the injury. I found that out from just reading with no medical training. Yet, he immediately jumped to a conclusion and sent me on my way with generic care instructions and to buy some "miracle" pads that would help. He told me that I could walk and do what I wanted as long as it didn't irritate the problem. After remaining in pain and continual swelling, I researched his so-called diagnosis, and my problem did not fall neatly into his conclusion. At my follow up visit with a real Doctor, he immediately ruled out the Nurse Practitioner's diagnosis and I in fact had a fracture which could have been made worse because of the misdiagnosis. Ortho On-Call should reconsider their business practices of not having a Doctor at their urgent care facilities. My recommendation is that if you can wait to see a real Doctor, keep your copay and don't bother with this place. read more

Went here due to knee injury. Entire visit took about an hour which included thirty mins in waiting area doing paperwork. Had stats and shot in my knee and done. Staff was nice and helpful. You should be aware this is strictly for orthopedic injuries, they did not even take vital signs, not a problem for me because I'm regularly followed by my PCP. read more

Should be a Zero 0 Star. Extremely disappointed with Ortho On-Call customer service and front desk personnel. We were never told when signing in that they had only one doctor on hand nor what the wait time would be. After waiting for over two hours, we asked how much longer it would be. We were told that they now had a 2nd doctor, however all the exams rooms were filled and there was still another person ahead of us. We asked if they would call the Boulders Ortho Virginia office to see if we could get an appointment. We were told that they could not but would give us their number for us to call. This is the worst customer service experience in any doctor's office we have ever experienced. We should have been informed of the situation when we checked in, the estimated wait time and periodically updated during the wait. Totally unacceptable and we will not us this office again. P.S. - We called the Boulders Ortho Virginia office and got an appointment for the next day. read more

If you are looking for a misdiagnosis and having a collection agency go after your 8 year old, I strongly recommend Ortho On-Call. If that is not what you are looking for, you may want to look elsewhere. After diagnosing a sprain, a follow up at another practice discovered a break. OK, understandable. But the kicker is, even though they have our correct address on file (we had them read it to us just now), they sent bills for 6 months to some other address that doesn't exist (ever heard of Google Maps?). We also verified the phone numbers, yes 2, they have on file. Did they call? Nope. They then proceeded to send a collection agency after our 8 year old son. After arguing with them that he is 8 and they cannot speak to him and have to talk to one of us, we finally got the facts as to what was going on. Needless to say, we won't be back there. read more

Went in at 10:00 am, 1 1/2 hr wait, when we finally saw doctor she was condescending & seemingly dismissive. Didn't get out of there for 2 1/2 hrs for X-rays & exam. Incredibly frustrating, I don't even think doctor knew what ehlors danlos syndrome is. read more

This is the second time I have used this establishment. The first time was approximately 3 months ago when my daughter fractured her wrist. I was pleased with the staff. Tonight the experience was awful. I arrived at today approx 5:45 pm the receptionist seemed very busy to even greet. She did warm up and I really appreciated all the help she gave. In addition to the young lady who helped my 6 year old into a wheel chair because she couldn't put pressure on her foot. She reassured my daughter and made her feel comfortable. Then it went down hill. While getting to a room and X rays were pretty quick. I waited approximately an hour in the room while the staff chatted about getting the "dream team" together again. Mind you there was no one waiting when I arrived and the physician assistant was sitting at the desk. The nurse's bedside manner was very lack luster only addressing my daughter and asking her questions she wouldn't know the answer to like names of medication, height, and weight. Finally the doctor arrived ill prepared. He had not viewed the X-rays prior to walking in the room in which he learned the sheets were blank. After assessing my 6 year old for approximately 8 - 10 mins he suggested shoe opt boot. The nurse assisted with the boot but the boot was too small and my daughter was in excruciating pain when she applied pressure. We waited 15 mins for the doctor to return. He states the boot was ok but clearly my daughter toes were hanging over the boot. When my 6 year cried when he tried to reapply the boot because of the pain PA John Impastato told my daughter he "doesn't have all night to prod her. He was back in the room only 2-3 mins at the point. As he gave instructions he told me my daughter was having some drama issues and she would need to "learn" to walk in the boot. At this point I'm over the doctor and the nurse. If my daughter was being hysterical and outrageous I would totally understand but simply was not the case. Yes she was crying and saying it hurt. The PA and the nurse bedside manner was totally unprofessional and I wouldn't recommend their services at any establishment. Who treats a 6 year old with no compassion. I understand everyone has a bad day but clearly this was more than a bad day. My daughter didn't deserve that treatment. read more
