My care today was great. From the front desk (Tracey), to the surgical nurse (Liz M), to the post surgical nurse (Steven), and the doctors (Levitz, Kaufman). I wish I remembered the names of the smiling faces in the surgical room - but I was already semi-sedated. I had an ACL repair performed here on 3/27/25 and I felt attended to, comfortable, and at ease with the entire process. The people I came into contact with seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs and caring for their patients. I kept commenting to my husband how differently this experience would've been had I not been with such a caring group of people. Thank you to the team!! read more

The woman who answers the scheduling line thinks she is so smart but she's just difficult and a deterrent to the business. She already verified my primary insurance but kept on arguing with me about my secondary insurance and refused to schedule the appointment until I changed my last name. All the other doctors on Long Island and in Manhattan bill both insurances with the two last names and get paid fine. In fact, some doctors get more from the secondary insurance- hundreds and thousands of dollars. This woman was giving me a headache and I had to hang up. I was already in pain due to my leg and now I have to deal with the pain in the ass? No. Most people don't even have secondary insurance! Newsflash for you: some women get married and change their last names but they still use their maiden names professionally. It is not illegal, and not fraud. My wife just had surgery through this group, Dr. Bradley Gerber, As Amy wife and I are both Health Care Professional (Register Nurses) I researched the doctor we where to housing for her total knee replacement. Dr. Gerber is a professional, highly recommended and is also one of the top Dr's at Orlin and Cohen. However, this review isnot about his skill,professionalism anshis surgical process. He is an excellent Dr!! Unfortunately the people that deal with the patients pree and post op are not as professional or incline to do due diligence when pls call the office. But let me explain, Pre surgical preparedness had a couple of hiccups. As per the se Surgeon my wife required a " Long bone xray" of the leg that required the knee replace. The Merrick office told us that the only place that the Ray can be done was at another office where there was a specialty tech that was the only one that can do it, this was like a coup.e of weeks before her surgery. We went and supposedly it was done by super tech. A week before surgery we are called and told that the required xray was not done or not done correctly. This is a week to 6 days before her scheduled surgery. Was also told that surgery would not be done without it , when I asked to speak with someone about it, no one could help. By the way you could never get a office manager or some in charge to speak to you or call you back. They are always on the phone, out of the office or left already even though you have been waiting to speak to them for30 minutes in the office.(Merrick office) we never heard or spoke to anyone with authority, so know that this task is near impossible. And don't expect a simple call back either. After an hour or so finally they said tha5they spoke with the doctor and it was okay to have the surgery without orwithwhat was done. Surgery was great and Syossett hospital and staff Haverhill stepped their game up. We are now almost two weeks post OP. My wife's medication for pain Oxycodone 5mg which she is taking in addition to Tylenol and Celebrex ran out whenshehadabout 1day supply shecalled the office number to have it refilled,as ,she is now starting out pt rehab and will need it . She was toldno problemandtnatitwould best to to the listed pharmacy in her file hours later on script was sent, call backtotheoffice went on answered as mywife tried desperately to have someone order the medication have to add the that surgeon was not in the office since he went on vacation. He told us before surgery but, assured us that if any problems would come up there was someone always there to assist us, problem was that you could not get anyone on the phone to help with a simple task, like a medication refill. My wife went without pain medication for 48hrs, I tried calling the number they give which is not the office it's some kind of hub where the they direct the call and even then you get no help. I asked to speak to the office manager at two different offices, Merrick and Lynbrook. They would not give me a direct number. They said that they did not have a number that they can give me. What?? In this century there's no number I can access the office directly???... comeon? I was told that I would receive callbacks that never happened, when I mentioned this today on the follow-up appointment I was told that this is an on one problem. Which saddens me since this is probably happening to other patients too. Shame on Orlin And Cohenand their directors. They are happy to take our money but aren't able to fix a simple problem like great customer service, attention to detail and have their manager PA's and medical staff pick up a phone and speak to their pets. Im sure if you owe a $25 copayment they'll findawayto Harrasse you for it. Thumbs down for the managers of ORLIN and Cohen. Thumbs down to the medical board that is aware that this problem exists and chooses to not make it thier priority to fix it! Hopefully this review will he.p change that for the future patients. I would not recommend Orlin and Cohen to anyone following my recent experience. After an injury at the gym, I chose to visit Orlin and Cohen for an evaluation. The doctor I saw recommended an MRI and I was quickly scheduled which I appreciated. Following the MRI, I saw the doctor again and was told I had a fully torn ligament that would require surgery. It appeared that the doctor went based on the radiologist's recommendation, not the images themselves. That doctor would not be able to perform the surgery as she was going on maternity leave and referred me to another doctor at their practice. When I saw the second doctor, I was immediately turned off by her poor bedside manner - asking me if I was a professional athlete and downplaying the fact that I had found a passion for weightlifting later in life. She presented me with a different recommendation, also basing it on the interpretation of my MRI from the radiologist and not the images. Given that I had received 2 opposing recommendations, I chose to get an opinion outside of Orlin and Cohen at the Hospital for Special Surgery. I had issues obtaining my medical records after they failed to give them to me at my second office visit. When I realized their mistake, I was told I'd need to wait 7 business days which would fall after my follow-up appointment. At my appointment with HSS, I was told that I did NOT have a fully torn ligament and that my physical examination even supported that finding. The doctor there walked me through all of my MRI images and showed me how my ligament was not torn and I do not in fact need surgery nor the other course of treatment that was recommended. I am appalled that a group as large as Orlin and Cohen did NOT properly read my MRI and am thankful that the first doctor was going on maternity leave so I was not sent for an unnecessary surgery. The place is a factory and if you want attentive care with accurate medical results, I highly recommend you go elsewhere. read more

The worst Experience in my six years of coming there there is a nurse who works in your ambulatory unit on the 4th floor who is so nasty mean and disgusting. I would never come back to the ambuutory unit if she was on duty.Everybody else are wonderful loving caring compassionate people. Dr. Keefer is the most compassionate wonderful Dr. & surgeon as well and I will certainly recommend him. You have a serious problem with some of these nurses on the top floor. I will never recommend a procure if need be if that nurse was on duty Why do you always placing your personals mistakes on others ? As well the responsibility on the patient? You should either be calling me ( never Happened ) so I wish you would give me a call back and I certainly would never recommend your facility after what happened over two weeks prior to the surgery. It is the most horrifying story and the worst healthcare because there was no CARE in the word healthcare. Since you asked now again for it to be published publicly, you will have it publicly. I have not heard a single word from anyone from management nor did they meet me at the post operative appointment from your organization. Then you decided that you need 6 confirmations in 7 days for one post operative appointment. .Since no one has decided to call me from management of either company or parent corporation. I guess you be speaking with my attorney .I'm sure you and Northwell Healthcare both will be receiving correspondence regarding the above for mentioned problems and much much more in detail. Answer not necessary. I found this quite strange, and that was only the start. So escorted with wrong file the longest way possible into an internal exam room. Not only can the doctors assistant not even able to navigate the computer at all and still reading and staring at the incorrect file . After 25 minutes in the wrong exam room waiting on a Doctor who from their own directory doesn't even exist Final I'm escorted.to the correct part of the. Building into a exam room I've was just in prior to my surgery . Dr FISCH. did my left hip replacement back in 2019 did a excellent job then I had to wait three years of more pain to do my right hip after finally getting it done on October 19 I have been in massive pain ever since I'm just tired of being in pain !!!!And getting painkillers that actually work is Monumental? Pre surgical testing was an experience, the front desk person was hardly at her desk leaving patients waiting and the other staff having to stop what they were doing to do her job (ie. Nurse practitioner and nurse assistant). Surgery day was great considering it was surgery. The staff was friendly and personable, from the nurses preparing you to the anesthesiologist. Dr. Zaret, my dr was great he explained everything to me and my husband ensuring that we both understood. Today we remove the stitches from my toe making sure that I am summer ready. I had MRI done and reviewed with Dr. I suggested he look at my MRI from 10 years ago and I was told the system does not go back after 4/5 years. That is nonsense. Having a herniated L1/L2 disk, I was also getting radiating groin pain. Dr. told me it's not related and L1 is too high to cause groin pain. Well I asked another orthopedist and two chiropractors and they all said groin pain was a classic symptom of L1 herniation. A simple google search confirms this. It's scary to think these people will cut you open but can't even make a simple diagnosis. I can't recommend this practice in Woodbury and would find a different orthopedic practice. The Dr was a nice man but he is either too busy or too lazy to compare MRI and make a simple diagnosis. read more

My mom tore her rotator cuff 15 years ago and Dr. Howard Knoll from Broadway in Massapequa told her "don't bother with physical therapy, it doesn't work in my opinion" or my timid little mother would have gone for PT if so told to do so. (Incompetence at it's finest) Enter Dr. Eric Price who treated my mom very gently and resepectfully and listened to her concerns. He suggested she see their specialist, Dr. Brett Lenart from the Massaqequa office to perhaps discuss a complete reverse shoulder replacement. Well, I can't tell you the months of anxiety that she had leading up to this decision and suddenly she felt very comforted and comfortable with Dr. Lenart's personality and very friendly approach in addressing the inevidable. Let me preface this by saying my mom is 94 years young and Dr. Lenart performed the surgery on her June 11th, 2018 and she can't be happier. From the moment she walked into the hospital, she felt very supported and well taken care of. The nurses at (franklin General valley stream) were all amazing and Dr. Lenart came in bright and early the next morning to check on her. It's been 3 months since her surgery and is completely relieved and out of pain. It will be 1 year before she can actually feel absolutely normal, but she can't be happier with Dr. Lenart. Fast forward: 9/27/18 Dr. Lenart repaired a badly torn shoulder on me 3 days ago and I feel so much better. I have 3 small poke holes on my shoulder, but I know it's going to be great once it's healed. So, here I am typing this review with "0" pain. Watch out this place is a scam. Told me to get services I did not need. I got pre approved for an MRI, paid the deductible then got hit with another bill which was twice as much. My insurance told me that they know what they charge and since I was preapproved they knew how much my insurance would cover but wasnt told I'd owe more than what I paid upfront ($350), they are that money hungry. Be aware this is how some medical facilities scam you, know your rights!! You have the right to know exactly what they charge and how much insurance covers. Horrible! Honestly, I am horrified that I was even recommended to see Dr. Fisch as a doctor. I was diagnosed with bipatellopemoral syndrome and was told that I needed to attend physical therapy! Upon my diagnosis and what the treatment would be, I explained to Dr. Fisch that it was impossible based on what my schedule was ,which is why I couldn't attend physical therapy in the past. Once he heard my schedule, he actually seemed displeased to know how many hours I worked and how long I stood in a single day (I am a makeup artist for a company). I told him the only way I would be able to work and go to physical therapy without being penalized for calling out and having flareups in both knees, I would need to be part time. He agreed and said it would give me ample time to rest after attending physical therapy. Fast forward, the insurance company for my employer needed forms filled out by Dr. Fisch so that my schedule could be altered. The only alteration would be for me to be part time which he agreed when I visited him on March 7th, 2020. The documents were faxed over to the insurance company who called me to let me know the paperwork was incomplete because of ONE line. It was a question to specify what my schedule would be like and the answer stated, N/A. So because of N/A it put a halt on the processing of my paperwork. I called the office and left a message. Janet from the disability office returned my call to tell me, she's the one that filled out the paperwork, not Dr. Fisch, and she put N/A because she didn't know what my physical therapy schedule would be like. Other than that, the paperwork supported that I would need to be part time because it was checked off that my schedule would have to be reduced. The insurance company faxes another piece of paper to Orlin & Cohen with one question this time (just reiterating that I need a reduced schedule) and someone at the office writes an answer that contradicts what was filled out on the previous documents. I call to see why this was and Janet tells me, "Dr. Fisch does not remember having a conversation with you about your schedule." I explain to her in thorough details what was discussed and she asks me, "why can't you attend physical therapy after work?" Hmm, maybe because I live in Brooklyn, work in Manhattan, and my doctor and physical therapy center are in Long Island?????? Also, sometimes I get off of work at 8:45 pm. Janet then asks me to call the insurance company and ask them to fax over the paper work to me, so that I can fax over the paperwork to her and put a cover letter explaining everything that I'm saying over the phone, so that she could tell Dr. Fisch and refresh his memory. Or make a virtual appointment with him to ask him about the paper and be BILLED as an in office visit. Seriously?????? Remind him of why he agreed that I need to change my schedule to get treatment which was written on the original documents sent to the office to be filled out by him which was filled out by someone else??? That put a bad taste in my mouth so I wrote an email to the office manager who called me. I spoke to Sasha on May 6 (yes, so this was 2 months of this) who I explained the situation to. Sasha tells me she" is looking at my chart and she doesn't understand what the issue is. It shows my schedule must be changed for me to get treatment & it was filled out on the original forms so why would it be checked off differently on the second paper that was sent?" Sasha tells me she's going to speak to Janet to discuss this matter & hangs up. About 10 min later I receive another call from Sasha who says that she spoke to Dr. Fisch & he made a new decision about my schedule. That although he put in the notes that my schedule needs to be changed in order for me to get treatment, get rest, and not have to call out when I have flareups, he no longer agrees I should be part time and that he is basing it on what he put in my notes. (The same notes she looked at while she was on the phone with me the first time btw). Dr. Fisch & the Orlin & Cohen staff has lost my trust read more

Dr James Germano performed total knee replacement surgery on my left knee on May 17, 2018. It's hard to believe, less than 1 month after my surgery, I have full range of motion and the pain at this point is minimal. I had my right knee done a few years ago by another doctor. I did not have any problems however, the recovery was not as quick. The doctor that performed my right TKR was no longer doing surgery so I was referred to Dr Germano. From the moment I walked out of the office after meeting him and his PA Scott for the first time, I had the utmost confidence in them. They explained everything thoroughly and answered all my questions. Had Dr Germano done my previous TKR, I would not have waited almost 3 years to get this one done. TKR surgery is not pleasant, however, should you require it, I HIGHLY recommend Dr Germano!! read more

Possible the worst orthopedic office - new patients scheduled 15 minutes apart to keep the doctor moving (not provide good care); surgery is the first option they recommend; they do not pay attention to a patient's medical history when prescribing medication (maybe because they don't have time); no fitting for braces (why should they - insurance will pay whether it fits or not) and insurance is billed before end of day (they must get paid). Will not be going back and recommend you find a good doctor elsewhere if you need one. read more

Broken hand and this was the first appointment we could get. As an affiliate of Northwell I expected better. The doctor was in and out in less than 5 minutes, didn't explain much more than I would need a cast and would be out of work for about 6 weeks. Next a nurse comes in, puts a wet cast on, wraps with gauze and told us to follow her out. She takes us to check out, doesn't explain care or pain management, nothing. Went to see a competent hand specialist who redid everything and took the time to explain. Definitely would NOT recommend Orlin & Cohen. read more
