Orion on Orpington is bursting at the seams with top of the line amenities and perks! Upon moving in, my roommates and I were ecstatic to find that our apartment included a broken couch and leaking air conditioning unit. Our couch was so conformed to our bodies, that we could literally feel the floor! Not only did the cushions of our couch touch the floor, but our leaking AC gave the unit below us a nice swimming pool to beat the Orlando heat! We were also finally pushed to buy the router we'd always wanted because their Wi-Fi sure wasn't cutting it. Luckily, the broken couch grew on us because they refused to replace it the entire year we were there, despite our countless requests. If the beginning of the year didn't sound like you were staying at a luxury apartment complex, the end of the year proved to be the cherry on top! On move-out day they asked for our forwarding address to keep in touch and send us any extra bills! How nice of them, right? Unfortunately, it wasn't to forward mail like they tell you it is. If you have a package getting shipped from Hong Kong that was sent there on accident they believe it's easier to send it back to China than it is to forward it a mile down the road. One of my roommates decided to stay for the cheap rent and called me one night to hang out with her and the 3 male maintenance workers who were still in her apartment painting well past midnight. Unfortunately, we couldn't talk much because the 3 of them and the 20 other guys working on the building at the time didn't speak ANY English, what-so-ever! We tried to call the security guard to come hang with us too, but he never answered, unfortunately. Who needs security officers for anything other than noisy neighbors anyway?
Their Office Manager, Victoria Woods, is the epitome of professionalism! I had a small singe mark on my carpet, less than the size of a quarter, and they charged me $160 to replace the entire room's carpet. So, I contacted Ms. Woods, through writing letters of course because she's a bit shy and talking to people isn't really her thing. I asked her to lessen the charge since the entire carpet has to be replaced every few years anyway and the mark was only a minor mark that legally doesn't need to be replaced. She politely wrote me that I was going to have to pay for it and if I didn't within a week my parents would be pursued by debt collectors as they were my guarantors. I wrote her a couple more times saying I thought it was too much, considering we also had a broken couch the entire year, and she must've forgot to write back because I never got a response and had no choice but to pay.
The Preiss Corporation that owns them is really cool too! I tried to get in touch with someone there about the carpet and the phone number on their website is no longer in service. I submitted an e-mail to them about it and never got a response. Then I called Orion and they gave me a number for their corporate office manager, where I've left multiple voicemails and again never got a response call back.
So if this all sounds like heaven to you, look no further because you've found the perfect place to finally call home! read more
