I'm slightly embarrassed to write a review of Outback since I'm an American living in Sao Paulo,…read moreand should probably be a bit more adventurous with my dining choices than an American chain restaurant. Plus in the U.S., Outback typically isn't that great. But in Sao Paulo, it is SO good. My husband and I have tried several different cuts of steak here and enjoyed every one. My husband is a fan of the T-bone, which is a cut typically not found in Brazil, but common in the U.S. I prefer a leaner cut, so I'm partial to the hanger steak or picanha. The sides are good as well, especially the jacket potato, which comes loaded with the works (sour cream, butter, cheese, bacon and chives). The salads are tasty, too. It can get quite crowded here, so be prepared to wait. If you go earlier for dinner (like before 8 PM), you won't have to wait as long. However, last time we went around 8:30 on a weekend night and didn't get seated until almost 10:00. It was no big deal, however, because we sat at the bar and had a few drinks and some very tasty chicken wings. The staff here really seem to hustle and we've always gotten our food quickly and with a smile. The price point seems about the same as other steak restaurants in the city. Yup, I'm no longer embarrassed to say it - I'm an Outback fan!

Authough that I liked very much the ambientation of the local, very beautiful, I recomend you to go and see for yourself. After sit, I stated to ask my food, the attendent was very polite and brought all correctly. I proved the famous french fries with cheese and the ice cream with brownie this is soooo good!! The price of the food was a little above normal but the taste and the quantity of food compense that.

The first time I arrived, one of the waiters, Carlos, took me under his wing, showed me the ropes, reserved a table for me and just made me feel like I'd arrived at a friend's house for dinner. I returned several times in the two weeks I stayed in São Paulo and also met Joe, one of the owner/managers. Joe encouraged me to try their paninis. Normally, I steer clear of pizza-like foods in foreign countries... I mean, I love my NYC thin crust and am almost always disappointed in what I find elsewhere. Not so at Boston Bakery. Their crust is thin, crunchy, not soggy at all! In short, unexpectedly amazing and all the ingredient inside are fresh and in creative, tasty combinations. Boston Bakery is a combo buffet, sit down restaurant, diner, deli, chocolate shop and corner store. A great place to run and grab something or stay and linger. Thanks Joe and team for some great meals and wonderful hospitality! See you again soon.

It's the…read moreclassic churrascaria experience -- similar to Fogo de Chão -- with a full buffet, salad bar, and endless cuts of meat brought to the table. Here's the thing: I don't eat steak, pork, or most of the meats they specialize in, and I'm not a big fan of buffet or all‑you‑can‑eat restaurants in general. We came here because a coworker invited us, and she was being really kind, so I didn't think to check the price beforehand. I ended up only eating the salad, and with dessert my total came to about $66. For someone who doesn't eat the main attraction, that price felt a bit high -- honestly, I felt a little ripped off, LOL. Not the restaurant's fault at all; this is exactly how churrascarias work. It just wasn't the best match for my eating habits. Next time, I'll politely turn down the invite or suggest a different spot that fits my preferences better. But if you do enjoy steakhouse-style dining and want the full Brazilian churrasco experience, Barbacoa delivers exactly what it promises.

I love several other Churrasacarias in São Paulo, but this one is a real standout. We had a group dinner with friends and coworkers, and we were led to a large table, and the staff fawned all over us. They were very accommodating and friendly. The food and wine were all top-notch, and they brought whatever cut of meat you asked for, instead of waiting for the "good stuff" like the Picanha. The salad bar was great as well, although I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have any Feijoada, which is usually a staple at any Churrascaria in Brazil. Again, there are several good Churrascarias here, but if you want the best, you won't get any better than Barbacoa!

There were certainly plenty of Japanese speaking customers mixed in with Portuguese. And I, the odd tourist, felt right at home. The bamboo shoot and shitake mushroom appetizers were delectable. The chicken broth ramen was insipid. The Gyukatsu Kare (breaded fried beef with curry sauce over rice) was better, but not the ultra crispy panko planks I've had in some places. Maybe it was because I ordered it at the end of the night. The Brazilian brewed cold sake was really good. Could hardly tell the difference from Japanese sake. But, the highlight of the dinner of Sanma Shio--grilled pike mackerel with sea salt. Inexpensive for Sanma, uber fresh, grilled crispy so that you could crunch up the head and tail! The service was prompt, efficient and very warm. Even the owner came by to chat several times. Arigato gozaimasu! Obrigado! Thank you.

Something to keep in mind if you're considering going here and you're a visitor. Other than that, the food is pretty standard izakaya fare- not that much of a Brazilian influence from what we could tell. And we're very familiar with the genre (tons of these in the NYC) so we knew what to expect. The food is pretty tasty and the service was pretty good. The restaurant kinda feels like you walked into someone's kitchen which is pretty interesting. But overall we've actually had much better Japanese food. So there's that. But not a bad option if you're looking for something completely different in São Paulo.
