I'm slightly embarrassed to write a review of Outback since I'm an American living in Sao Paulo, and should probably be a bit more adventurous with my dining choices than an American chain restaurant. Plus in the U.S., Outback typically isn't that great. But in Sao Paulo, it is SO good. My husband and I have tried several different cuts of steak here and enjoyed every one. My husband is a fan of the T-bone, which is a cut typically not found in Brazil, but common in the U.S. I prefer a leaner cut, so I'm partial to the hanger steak or picanha. The sides are good as well, especially the jacket potato, which comes loaded with the works (sour cream, butter, cheese, bacon and chives). The salads are tasty, too.
It can get quite crowded here, so be prepared to wait. If you go earlier for dinner (like before 8 PM), you won't have to wait as long. However, last time we went around 8:30 on a weekend night and didn't get seated until almost 10:00. It was no big deal, however, because we sat at the bar and had a few drinks and some very tasty chicken wings.
The staff here really seem to hustle and we've always gotten our food quickly and with a smile. The price point seems about the same as other steak restaurants in the city. Yup, I'm no longer embarrassed to say it - I'm an Outback fan! read more
