From the minute I walked in, it was a great first impression. Very clean, well decorated and on top of it all Julie was kind and welcoming. Once the massage began the 5 star review was solidified, lol. I have a hard time finding massage therapists that apply the right amount of pressure, but Julie's was perfect. She was able to help me relax, but also super strong and able to really press into the knots that I needed more pressure on. Lastly the room temperature was perfect and that for me was the icing on the cake since I seem to always run on the warm side of things and many places that I've gone to are often a bit too hot and uncomfortable for me. So, If you're looking for a GREAT massage from someone who clearly knows what they are doing and pays attention to her clients, this is the place for you. I highly recommend it.

From the moment I entered the massage room, I knew it was going to be a relaxing, peaceful and…read morerestorative experience. It smelled sensational: there were diffusers in two corners of the room, the lighting was dim and scented candles were lit. I really enjoyed my massage with Julie the owner of the studio. She was friendly, informative and welcoming. She asked me questions about myself and gave me an opportunity to ask her questions too, prior to the massage. A foot treatment was part of the package, which I had first. It was warm foot soak with a wonderfully scented bath bomb, foot scrub and foot massage afterwards. Then I had a full body massage for 90 minutes-90 of the most blissful minutes I can remember ever having during a massage. The massage bed had a warming element to it, zen music was playing...It. Was. perfect. I'll definitely be back!

Deep tissue and they don't stop until you get the knots out. I felt amazing the next day. Great price for the service. "Customer service" may not be their forte due to cultural differences. A very relaxing experience…read more With an abundant supply of arthritic and other complaints, I went to A Balanced Life Massage today seeking some relief. I also have had numerous surgeries after a dissolute life with HS and college athletics and, to be frank, I was hurting. After an hour, I left feeling drained and a bit like one of what I call "puddle" puppies who look so relaxed as to have been poured into a melting heap. I was fixing my thoughts on a nap before dinner. After awaking, I felt that familiar warmth and relaxation that one frequently gets from a good massage, in the hands of a practiced professional. The facility was inviting and clean and the whole experience was very rewarding and satisfying. I would rate the overall experience as being one of the top five massages that I have received in about six different countries. I would grade the experience with a B+/A- and it was very well worth the cost which, in this case, involved a Groupon.

I did feel a little weird when my massage therapist stepped out the room 2 times but it was because she was getting the warm oil and hot stones. She didn't speak English to well but we still could communicate básics. It didn't matter though because she understood my body and knew exactly how to massage the knots out of my body. I called and came in person four times and they turned me away. Honestly, I simply though they were truly busy and didn't think anything of it. Last Saturday, after calling and coming in, in person and turned away, I decided to come back, sit and wait. Once they noted my persistence, they agreed to see me but only for half an hour. They said they had appointments coming in. I was adamant about getting an hour massage but they said they could only fit me in for half an hour and double the price! That's when I realized they probably didn't want to service me due to the color of my skin and I was infuriated. Eventually I got a lousy hour massage. It wasn't a shiatsu massage like I had asked for. They also had me pay before my services, something that is not customary. This is a racist establishment that clearly doesn't feel comfortable servicing black people. I got my money back through my credit card company and I will never step foot here again.

I myself am a massage therapist. I have been here several times. I would normally see Tom or Mary,…read morewho are both great, but have seen others as well. I've even told other people about the place, but I'll never be back after today. It's a bit rudimentary to begin with - no private rooms, only hospital curtains between massage tables. The practitioners talk with each other through the curtains sometimes, which I actually find amusing, but some may find annoying. Their English is spotty, so communicating can be challenging. But when you're in pain, for a dollar a minute, you can't beat it, especially since they take walk-ins, and many other establishments are already booked ahead of time - at least ones that have reputable licensed therapists who have a following. One time in the past it ticked me off when the person I paid at the register got an attitude with me because I was paying with a credit card instead of cash. I didn't return for quite a while after that. Started coming back several months ago because I don't schedule my own self care the way I should and usually wait until I'm hurting and desperate (like an idiot lol), and I can be seen same day here. A few times, I've had people put too much pressure on my ribs, spine, etc. and that hurts. But I realize they are most likely not professionally/formally educated/trained in massage, nor certified/licensed, and although that's pretty much illegal, I figure why not let people make their money? It's VERY difficult to actually injure someone via massage, and at least they aren't perpetuating the "shady" side of massage...if you know what I mean. So today.... I requested a 90 minute massage and got a woman I had never seen before. Her English was probably the best out of anyone I've seen there, so I told her that I like deep pressure and told her my problem areas to focus on. YES, she had deep pressure lol! She started massaging me in what I can only describe as "a furious manner." Really fast and hard and I could tel right away she was going to wear herself out, and I kind of felt bad, but I'm not going to tell people how to do their job. I literally thought for half the massage "If you'd just calm down and slow down, this wouldn't be so hard on you." I also got elbows on my ribs and too close to my spine. Which, as I mentioned before, hurts. I told her and she let up on the pressure, but then it happened again when she got to the other side of my body. So I just suffer in silence, because she's trying to do what I asked her and is also doing it the best she knows how. Ok so massage is over. Unless something has changed since my last visit, it's a dollar a minute. I had a 90 minute. She told me it was $100. I didn't say anything. What's $10 when I know she just worked her ass off (self-inflicted for the most part, but whatever.) I hand her my credit card, put down a 20 dollar bill and tell her the $20 is for her. She looked at it, smirked and kind of rolled her eyes, and mumbled something to her coworker. Do we all agree that 20% (actually a bit more since it should have been $90) is acceptable? I'm in the industry. Of COURSE I appreciate big tippers. But not everyone can do it, and I'm thankful to get what I get. When she handed me the slip to sign and I wrote "cash" on the tip line, she had the AUDACITY to say to me "No more tip?!?" I couldn't believe it. I looked at her and said "What, you want more?!" She said that it was a really hard long massage and then rubbed her hands and wrists. But not like in a "poor me, can't you help a sister out" way; it was totally in a "I can't believe you're being so cheap" way. Which is OFFENSIVE, to say the least! Next - and I still don't know why I did this - I reached into my purse and pulled out another 10 and gave it to her. As I walked out, I said "I'm a massage therapist too. I know ALLL about it!" Still kind of annoyed at myself for giving her the other 10, because by the time I got to my car, I was so pissed off about what had just happened that instead of driving home calm to enjoy the effects of my massage, I'm sitting here writing this review! I honestly wish I had just taken the $20 off the counter and told her to go somewhere. And THIS is why I'll never be back!!!! ****RUUUUUUUUUDE!!!!!!!!******
