I want sure what to expect as I booked w no recommendations. I get massages regularly but through a local massage school. I booked and paid in advance on line and took advantage of the weekday special $60 for one hour. I was greeted as soon as I entered and led to a soothing quiet room and asked what my concerns were. After a quick change, Rita began to work her magic. She addresses all my areas of concern and at one point stepped out and I was surprised to realize she returned w hot stones to do additional work! Lots of attention to detail. Some range of motion and stretching , hot stones .. a complete hour of relaxation. Even using a hot towel to remove excess massage oil before I got dressed. I was visiting th area but next time I'm in town I'll be back. Highly recommend!

I must be risky because I saw the reviews for this location and booked anyway ( and earned the…read moreMaverick badge in the process). I only had good things to say about my experience. I booked online on a Saturday for a Sunday appointment. I was called not long after my online booking and spoke with a staff member who walked me through everything that I would be getting and took my credit card number to hold the appointment. She also explained because it was 24 hours if I canceled I would be charged a fee, which I acknowledged. When I walked in on Sunday about 30 minutes before my appointment as asked, a staff member greeted me promptly, offered me water and had me fill out some paperwork. I was called back to the more serene waiting room where the lights were dimmed, and there was a fountain before my masseuse, Eugene came and got me. The room was very clean and peaceful and I received a full body massage and for an extra $10 a lavender sugar foot scrub. I liked my experience, everyone was attentive and pleasant and I recommend giving this location a shot if you want a massage.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Message Envy and would strongly caution…read morecustomers to make sure they fully understand the terms of any membership before purchasing. Back in July, I received a message from the Christiana location and was talked into purchasing a 3-credit membership. During the conversation, I specifically explained that I live in North Wilmington and intended to use the Wilmington location. Despite knowing that, I was sold the membership with the understanding that I could use the credits for services. Recently, I scheduled a massage at the Wilmington location. The receptionist confirmed that she could see the credits on my account, but told me that because I had purchased the membership at the Christiana location, the Wilmington location would not honor the prepaid credits. I challenged this because that was not my understanding when I purchased the membership and explained that I felt I had been misled. The receptionist told me she would work it out with the Christiana location, and I left expecting the issue to be resolved between the two locations. Two days later, instead of receiving a reasonable resolution, I received a call from a state trooper telling me that he would be forced to write a warrant for me for theft of service. I was absolutely stunned by how this situation was handled, particularly given that I had prepaid for credits that were clearly visible on my account and had made a good-faith effort to resolve the issue with the business. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding the two locations' policies, I believe this situation was handled in an unnecessarily aggressive and completely unacceptable manner. A customer who has paid in advance, has credits showing on their account, and is actively trying to resolve a disagreement should not be treated this way. My experience has left me with serious concerns about the transparency of Message Envy's membership practices and the way disputes are handled between its locations. I expected a straightforward customer-service resolution and instead found myself dealing with an extremely stressful and disproportionate response.

honestly a great massage, would recommend/come back, and decently priced compared to other massage…read moreplaces in the area Went back a second time just to be sure, had a different person and just as good

I myself am a massage therapist. I have been here several times. I would normally see Tom or Mary,…read morewho are both great, but have seen others as well. I've even told other people about the place, but I'll never be back after today. It's a bit rudimentary to begin with - no private rooms, only hospital curtains between massage tables. The practitioners talk with each other through the curtains sometimes, which I actually find amusing, but some may find annoying. Their English is spotty, so communicating can be challenging. But when you're in pain, for a dollar a minute, you can't beat it, especially since they take walk-ins, and many other establishments are already booked ahead of time - at least ones that have reputable licensed therapists who have a following. One time in the past it ticked me off when the person I paid at the register got an attitude with me because I was paying with a credit card instead of cash. I didn't return for quite a while after that. Started coming back several months ago because I don't schedule my own self care the way I should and usually wait until I'm hurting and desperate (like an idiot lol), and I can be seen same day here. A few times, I've had people put too much pressure on my ribs, spine, etc. and that hurts. But I realize they are most likely not professionally/formally educated/trained in massage, nor certified/licensed, and although that's pretty much illegal, I figure why not let people make their money? It's VERY difficult to actually injure someone via massage, and at least they aren't perpetuating the "shady" side of massage...if you know what I mean. So today.... I requested a 90 minute massage and got a woman I had never seen before. Her English was probably the best out of anyone I've seen there, so I told her that I like deep pressure and told her my problem areas to focus on. YES, she had deep pressure lol! She started massaging me in what I can only describe as "a furious manner." Really fast and hard and I could tel right away she was going to wear herself out, and I kind of felt bad, but I'm not going to tell people how to do their job. I literally thought for half the massage "If you'd just calm down and slow down, this wouldn't be so hard on you." I also got elbows on my ribs and too close to my spine. Which, as I mentioned before, hurts. I told her and she let up on the pressure, but then it happened again when she got to the other side of my body. So I just suffer in silence, because she's trying to do what I asked her and is also doing it the best she knows how. Ok so massage is over. Unless something has changed since my last visit, it's a dollar a minute. I had a 90 minute. She told me it was $100. I didn't say anything. What's $10 when I know she just worked her ass off (self-inflicted for the most part, but whatever.) I hand her my credit card, put down a 20 dollar bill and tell her the $20 is for her. She looked at it, smirked and kind of rolled her eyes, and mumbled something to her coworker. Do we all agree that 20% (actually a bit more since it should have been $90) is acceptable? I'm in the industry. Of COURSE I appreciate big tippers. But not everyone can do it, and I'm thankful to get what I get. When she handed me the slip to sign and I wrote "cash" on the tip line, she had the AUDACITY to say to me "No more tip?!?" I couldn't believe it. I looked at her and said "What, you want more?!" She said that it was a really hard long massage and then rubbed her hands and wrists. But not like in a "poor me, can't you help a sister out" way; it was totally in a "I can't believe you're being so cheap" way. Which is OFFENSIVE, to say the least! Next - and I still don't know why I did this - I reached into my purse and pulled out another 10 and gave it to her. As I walked out, I said "I'm a massage therapist too. I know ALLL about it!" Still kind of annoyed at myself for giving her the other 10, because by the time I got to my car, I was so pissed off about what had just happened that instead of driving home calm to enjoy the effects of my massage, I'm sitting here writing this review! I honestly wish I had just taken the $20 off the counter and told her to go somewhere. And THIS is why I'll never be back!!!! ****RUUUUUUUUUDE!!!!!!!!******
