Combined with a surprisingly well executed menu (especially given the constraints of their small kitchen and nature as a small business!), Ticket to Play serves a remarkable dining experience. Attentive staff make the whole purchasing experience delightful - simply order your food, grab whatever you want from the cooler, and they'll track your tab. Just remember to close out before you go. With delicious sandwiches and their signature soups, Ticket to Play is a solid option for a casual lunch, and that's not really even the point! No, the big draw of the cafe is the board game library. For a minuscule $5 fee, you get access to their well maintained collection of a few hundred games, and expert curation and recommendations. Are you a big time board gamer and know that you prefer dice placement games with engine-building aspects? They'll help you find something. A casually player just looking for some brainless fun with friends? There's an entire shelf's worth of party games they can recommend. Wanting to introduce your significant other to the world of board games? The selection of 2-player games has matches for any skill and/or complexity level.

Large parking lot and the front entrance had stairs which was weird to navigate your bowling ball bags. Looks like it has a fun arcade game room area for the kiddos. Full bar avail and snack bar. The bathrooms were in need of a deep cleaning.

One never knows how events like this will go, especially on busy Saturday afternoons. But the manager and associates handled all of the logistics related to our birthday party with ease. At first glance, the bowling alley has a real old school vibe; almost everyone has stepped foot in a bowling alley like this before. The lockers, the benches for putting on shoes, the seat configuration around the lanes, the concessions, the signage... it all evokes a strong sense of nostalgia. But AMF has done a great job maintaining high standards when it comes to technology of the lanes, equipment, and arcade. Everything runs smoothly here. The staff were extremely helpful in setting up the seating area for my friend's party, including timing food delivery with our game play, helping with our cake, and managing cleanup when the time came. I think they even threw in a few extra guest cards for the arcade! Even though AMF Firebird Lanes is part of a large network of over 350 bowling alleys across the country, the management and staff at this location help create a strong sense of community. I don't bowl much, but if anyone ever asks me about party venues in Salem, I'll be sure to mention this place. Nice work, folks!

We provided the party room (the common room in an apartment complex) and they brought the puzzles, the props, the ambiance, and great show-runners. They totally transformed the common room into a magician's lair, with a nice story and a fun setup. The goal of the setup was to unlock six or so locks, which would allow the magician to escape the box of death. In order to unlock the six locks, we had to unravel about 20 puzzles, which I won't describe here because I don't want to spoil them. I appreciated, though, that the puzzles were all different kinds of puzzles, so everyone could find something they could contribute. The magician themed room was medium-hard. I am told they have some rooms that are easier and some rooms that are harder. We are looking forward to doing their more challenging room at some point in the future. I also appreciated that the people working the event stayed in character and provided a lot of good energy. We had about 20 people at the party, so they had to run the escape room two times. It took about 15 minutes between runs to reset the room. They packed up in half an hour and left the room in great shape. We couldn't be happier with this booking, and I am already fantasizing about booking them again for another room.
