Hey, I had an appointment this past Friday January 30 at 3:45 pm to obtain an Oregon Real ID. The experience was great! There was no line because of the appointment only policy and after my check-in I sat down and waited about 5 minutes before I was called to a window. I went in a little before noon this Wednesday and was so happy to get helped by a very considerate tall man. He explained the process to me and got me an appointment for three hours hence. I came back early just as he advised me to and the whole process was done in less than five minutes to perfection. This is a wonderful office full of kind courteous people! Thank you!!! read more

Terrible! Turned away multiple times for simple permit and told I had to make an appointment online. Except every time I log on to do so, the website says " No appointments available " so it is simply IMPOSSIBLE to make an appointment. This is a sad joke. About 100 people lined up outside and when they asked "Whomever has an appointment step right on up " and no one moved because no one had an appointment because it is IMPOSSIBLE to make one on the official website. Made an appointment online for my address change...8 days out. I took a chance on a walk in and was given an appointment in an hour and a half. Front desk guy was amazing. Came back, sat down for a little bit to bs with the few people that were there. Friendly employees all around. Could not have gone better. read more

So we walk in and there is basically nobody in there. Yet, when we ask if can renew our tags they can't do anything cause they have reached their 250 customers for the day... we don't have an appointment so they won't do anything. DMV has always been ridiculous, but this takes the cake. Mind boggling. read more

no one in la pine office very seldom. they are only open on thursdays. my son has been trying to get his id renewed, office is always closed finally able to get into bend office there were 5 people there waiting and were told to come back after 3 since they were too busy to wait on anyone else. I know everyone loves to bag on the DMV. They even made an animated movie scene out of it, with a sloth as the guy behind the desk. Uncool -- and inaccurate! At least compared to the Bend DMV. I received fantastic service! Communication was clear, everyone was super friendly -- especially Larry, the guy who helped me. Sure I waited awhile, but guess what: This is an underfunded government agency. They're doing great with the resources they have. Turns out I have to go back soon -- my fault, not theirs -- and am totally not dreading it! P.S. One suggestion: provide wifi for your customers. read more

After living in Louisiana for years, the DMV in Bend is a breath of fresh air! I've been able to book appointments online, and even when I showed up and waited in line, it only took 15 minutes--New Orleans typically takes 3-6 hours, and several of those hours outside in the heat and humidity. When I brought my 80-year-old mother to the DMV to get her State ID it only took us 25 minutes without an appointment, and the lady behind the counter was very patient and super kind! You all do a wonderful job serving the public!! read more

The DMV website fails to even list my local Bend office so that I can make an appointment for a VIN inspection. And when I called, there was a 25 minute wait because DMV doesn't adequately staff. So I'll have to drive there to make an appointment. Where is DOGE when we need them to make the DMV efficient again? Oregon is run by imbeciles. read more

This office very organize. The lines and process were orderly and the process guides are very efficient and knowledgeable. Staff work fast and efficient. Came here without appointment on a Tuesday to get my license renewed. Came at 8:10. There was a line to get a number and the person who gives you the number asks you what you are trying to get and he tells you what the requirements are for that transaction. You can opt to get notified via text message so you don't need to wait inside, which was perfect for me as I had to drive back home to get my passport. I came back and got a text message that I could come and wait inside. The same guy who gave me a number also told me where I can take a seat and wait and that he'd call the numbers who could line up on the red carpet, so people didn't have to be standing too long. Felt belittled, and worker was condescending and rude. THREE windows out of 11 open, and waited almost 3 hours to be turned away. As a college student, this is my first time being home in Oregon, and was not told the length of the documents and proof of residence I would need. The service is horrible, and the hours of operation make it nearly impossible for full time workers to be served. read more

This review is for the DMV office in Bend. Time to renew my license. I had no appointment. Self check in was quick and easy. They have screens up on walls that tell you about how long before your number is called. Less than 10 minutes I was at a window. The gentleman at my window was kind, courteous, and very helpful. They are short handed, so the wait for a new picture was about 15-20 minutes. All in all, not a bad experience. read more

Wow. Wow. Wow. Oregon DMV should give training to every other state. I thought it was a federal mandate that all DMVs need to keep you waiting for a minimum of 2 hours (even with an appt) and be staffed with extremely rude people who hate their jobs. But Oregon has broken the mold! I arrived without an appt to get an Oregon license, was greeted by such a friendly a helpful woman and was done in 35 min! I just moved to Bend from out of state and realized my license was expiring. Not sure about you, but I have never had a ticket and I wasn't starting now, so I quickly went online to make an appointment. Sadly, the website told me I'd have to take both written and drivers test AND make an appointment thru their website...Not only was the website not user friendly, but I'd have to wait months (no exaggeration!), so..... I decided to walk in to ask questions so I knew if I decided to walk in again, I'd have all the documentation I needed. Imagine my surprise when I was told (and with a big smile while looking at my expired license) that not only do I not need to take all the tests, but if I had any documentation listing my home address in Oregon that there was currently a mere 5 minute wait. With my bank checks and expired license in hand, I approached window 1. I wish I had asked her name, but THE nicest young lady took all of my information and even corrected the info from the car dealer who had my birthdate wrong. Charming and so efficient, I was out in probaly 10 minutes. Given all the dings this office has gotten on Yelp, I just wanted to add my two cents in. This office rocked it today. They were friendly, helpful and ever so quick getting me in and out in 15 minutes. Worth every minute! read more

Covid review: we had to make an appointment to get our OR drivers license after moving here. Appointments are required right now and that's ok. Ours was over a month out and gave us time to study for the knowledge test.. When we arrived, the whole process took an hour from start to finish. Very efficient and I felt very safe. Masks are worn and people are distanced. Employees were so warm and kind. *** Tip: If you're taking the written knowledge test, read the manual at least once!! Take all the various free practice tests online. read more

As far as DMV's go, I would say that this location is one of the better ones I have visited. The staff are actually friendly and mindful of your time. The location is on the larger size and well situated so you are in a line that suits your needs, be it express device, testing or other items you might be at the DMV about. Glad this is the one that is in my area, though I am hoping I need not go in very often. read more

Super helpful and friendly folks here at the DMV. It's unreal. Having lived in a lot of states, I've been to many DMVs across the country and the popular notion that DMV employees hate their jobs and take it out on hapless citizens just trying to comply with driving laws is founded on a good bit of truth. Not all of them, of course, or even most of them. But a lot. Not here, at least in my experience. Both with getting an Oregon driver license and Oregon title and plates for my cars, it's been a smooth, friendly process. It's as if they're happy to see and chat with you! The building is nice, too. You can't imagine some of the trashed-out, run down DMV offices I've seen in other places. This one is modern, spacious and downright comfortable. In the category of state DMV offices, the Bend branch is as good as it gets. read more

Here is my experience with DMV so far. Want to get a motorcycle endorsement. Took the course. Went to Gladstone, four hour wait. Went on line to make an appointment. No selection for knowledge test for motorcycle endorsement. Called to make an appointment. Put on hold and eventually a computer announcement said something to the effect of "this organization has call restriction times" and cut me off. Am I happy with my experience? Having just moved to Oregon I have had to visit Bend Oregon DMV several times over the past several months. I came in once to get a new driver license an another couple of times to get Oregon title & registration for my two vehicles. The place is efficient, but can be short of staff if 30 or more residents show up in a short time. I was in an out in 30 minutes on one occasion(maybe 20 residents in line) an over 2 hours on another (40 residents)when I needed get my new Oregon DL. Discovered yesterday when I went to our local DMV to have my license renewed that the offices are temporarily moved from their home off Hway 97 to a facility off of O.B. Riley Road while the other building is being remodeled. I learned this as I turned into the old building's parking lot. Since the renewal notice I received used the old building address and the sign posted on the old building was a map for the temp location without address written, it was like that kids game of following the clues to find the treasure. Not to ruin that "fun" but as heads up to others who have biz with the Bend DMV, call ahead for the new address. That was the only unhappy surprise of the day. Otherwise, it was a pleasure worth posting that although the temp space is much smaller and the number of people inside needing all kinds of DMV related assistance were many, even on a weekday afternoon, the staff was well organized and friendly and things moved briskly. We so often have opportunity to be not impressed with State government run agencies, kudos are deserved for this Bend branch for doing better than just making do with the awkward temporary digs. Drivers in Oregon must renew our licenses every eight years. There are some painful things associated with that. Including having to have one's picture taken for the new license and seeing just how much that time passage is recorded n one's face. Just as no one says "let's go on an airplane so we can eat a good meal", no one says "let's go to the DMV to have a flattering portrait taken". But not only was the process painless, the photo didn't turn out half bad either. THIS N THAT: 1) At only $40 renewal fee, OR is one of the lowest in the nation I think. Prorates out for five bucks a year, not much more than the cost of a single fancy coffee beverage. Great deal. 2) At some point in the last eight years, drivers renewing OR licenses are required to take in with them not only their expiriing license but also a birth certificate. Heads up if a trip to the safe deposit box is in order before visiting the DMV office. read more

Wow I don't even know where to start. My wife walked in to get a drivers license but has a current one from another state. She presented her current real ID and passport. She was told she needed her social security card too. So how did she get a real ID and a passport if she didn't have a Social security card? Are you saying the state department issued a passport to a non-US citizen? What do they put in the water here? Guess not everyone has common sense in this town! read more

My daughter went in to get her permit and the woman in a bedazzled mask closest to the testing space (which is an AWFUL place to take a test as it's right by people talking loudly) was so rude to her. My daughter was obviously upset about failing and the woman had no compassion or ounce of kindness. She literally asked us (in front of my daughter) if she'd even read the manual! If you're so burnt out you can't even be nice, go get a different job, there a plenty out there. read more

You have to get a number check in with the information desk who tells you everything you need. So I wait over an hour and turns out the desk lady was wrong! You need to train your employees a little more on information or make sure if you aren't sure if someone needs something to tell them that you "might" need it I'm unsure or hey I'll find out for you. Not me sit in the stupid dmv for over an hour just for the person who calls me up to say sorry. Are you serious? Way to go! read more

I went to DMV this morning to renew my driver's license. Got a number and sat down wait. After 15 minutes, the number on the wall was still the same,I wondered if I was doing the right thing since haven't been in DMV for years. So I stood up went to one of the counters, because the lady works there was not helping anyone at that moment. Right after I said: excuse me, she started bark at me: "did I call your number? Go back sit down, wait for me to call your number". OMG! I was shocked! There's really no need to act like this. Who do you think you are? Her name is: Arlene. She is a short older woman with grey hair. Be careful when you see her. I will never try to get any help from her anymore. read more

The lady at the information desk was yelling at people not to 'step on the freaking carpet unless I tell you too!'. Rude. Unprofessional.
