We visited for the first time a few weeks ago and went to story time. The woman leading the stories…read moreclaimed to be "getting over a cold" and was coughing aggressively the whole time. At some points not covering her mouth. We have now been sick for 14 days. If you are sick please stay home and don't interact with children. Besides story time we enjoyed our visit - lots of great indoor activities for kids.

Big(ish), well-stocked with books, magazines, CDs and such, has numerous free computers, has a good wi-fi system. - Lots of reading areas with comfortable seating. - Staff are friendly and helpful. - A great local section if you're interested in learning about Central Oregon. - Plentiful parking and lots of bike racks. - The online system (which serves the Deschutes system not just the Bend branch) works well and includes downloadable ebooks.

Wasted Resources The DPL has a number of rooms set aside for…read morestudy and tutoring. Some of those rooms are meant for groups. However, when those rooms are not being used by groups, they could be used by individuals who might be working on projects that require more space or maybe they need to do a study call over Zoom or Google Meets. However, the DPL does not allow that under any circumstances at least that's what I was told. Seems a waste of resources to heat, cool and light a space that no one is using. I guess the DPL doesn't mind blowing the public's money in order to follow random rules that make about as much sense as gills on cactus.

Not only maps, but also lots of outdoor-related literature such as the Roadside Geology of Oregon and other books. And some trinkets. But I was impressed - not surprised - with the helpfulness of the ranger at the counter in explaining what they had in the way of trail and 4WD maps for the Deschutes and Ochoco forests. A nice space with a friendly staff…read more I have been to several forest offices through just blanket adventuring and have found that the one at Deschutes to be categorically one of the finest. The facility is well maintained, beautiful and expansive. The staff are friendly and ready and eager to help. Parking is ample and one of the well defining characteristics of the Forest office is the dog park adjacent to the Forest which offers a great deal of space for you or your friendly pooch to run wild. Definitely a great stop while in and around the town.

Hey, I had an…read moreappointment this past Friday January 30 at 3:45 pm to obtain an Oregon Real ID. The experience was great! There was no line because of the appointment only policy and after my check-in I sat down and waited about 5 minutes before I was called to a window. I had arrived about an hour early and was thrilled to be able to complete my task early. The staff at the Bend DMV were very pleasant and efficient. Thanx! Doug K
